Walkthrough of a hack to the Yakima HD Bar using Thule ProBar rubber stripping to avoid bar slide. I cover the issue being resolved, installation, and a final check (spoiler alert: SOOO much better!!). Do you know if this strip will also fit into the bottom channel of the HD Bar? I've read that it would be advisable to add a rubber strip to the bottom but I'm not sure if it's the same dimensions as the top strip. Have you added weather strip to the bottom of the HD Bar? Perhaps I can just move the original Yakima strip underneath when I add the Thule strip on top? Thanks!
Sorry for the delayed reply. I wanted to check to make sure before answering you because I’ve never tried. Turns out the bottom channel is the same size as the top, so moving the leftover Yakima strip down there makes a lot of sense to me. I’ve heard that can help keep noise down, which would be good since the HD bar is pretty loud to begin with. The bars I have mounted on a rack in the bed aren’t audible in the cab, but on the roof they definitely are, so I may add the under strip to those. Thx for watching, and for thinking about this. 👍🏼
Do you mean the crossbar slides in its tower/mount?! What tower type do you have? Seems like it must not be tight enough to the crossbar, if that’s what is happening.

Hi I got a Thule but the crossbar itself slides any suggestion?

Link for rubber strip not working for me.. possibly removed from store?
Yeah, I think maybe they don’t sell it any more. I’d say prob best to either call etrailer or Thule and ask to be sure you get right one.
