Thing is, Corsair is still a great ship. Now its just not brokenly overpowered - and if it is under-powered (which is sure looks like it), it will probably get buffed back up in a future patch. Hell, the Cutlasses grew by almost 50% in size, when CIG say they may change ships after testing, they actually mean it.
Nah. Just melt it and get the rumored MISC Starlancer which will be a Corsair competitor. This is the way of things in SC. They will always nerf the old to promote buying of the new. Don’t get sentimental with your ships. Melt and buy with credit as necessary.

Thank you for replying to me. I really appreciate people who take the time to understand other people, and it never gets old meeting people who have similar interests. No. People bought this ship years ago specifically for its firepower in solo PVE, etc. The ship was already terrible at PVP compared to other options. It only had good firepower. CIG wants multicrew to work, and so do we. Now, they make a very bad change that only seems to hurt the players who paid for the ship. Then, once this change gets implemented, they then sell another ship with greater firepower, and it comes off as a 'solution' to your nerfed corsair. I want to let them cook, but when the cooking is already ruining the main dish for people who already paid for it then the only word we can really use to sum up the situation is a scam.
Guys just melt what you have, there is no need to 'keep' a ship. Melt for crdits and reuse it so you can use whatever you want. There is 0 need to keep on to older ships or anything at all.... screw 'em, do not give them 1 dollar more.
The reason to hold old ships is to keep the lower price. Maybe you bought a carrack for 350 and if you melt it then you can only afford a mole because prices are constantly creeping up

It’s fine to balance a full game but they throw the “alpha” in our face every time something is a complete failure yet they are worried about “balancing” a game that has nothing to win or lose or earn anyway. You may add at least two more ships to the list. 350R was sold as the fastest ship in the verse, well its not anymore by far not. Maybe max speed ok... But "fastest" is not only max speed. Spirit C1 is a competitor to cutlass, freelancer, ... Only feature that was better was the nimbleness, well its not nimble.
They won't stop doing this until the start citizen community gets together to let them know that we might not count as investors legally speaking but SC and the whole of CIG exist thanks to us bakers and our voices must be heard, we can't let them keep doing things this way
I have to say, anyone who thought the corsair was NOT going to get nerfed at some point was dreaming. It was always overpowered for its role and price point - seriously, with firepower comparable to the Redeemer gunship (nearly double the price) "too good to be true" was literally always going to be too good to be true. And yes, CIG actually does make a point of saying ships can and will be balanced over time. The next to be nerfed will be the F7C mk 2, which is horribly over-gunned for its price and role as well.
Well, of course we *thought* it would get nerfed, merely based on the track record of this dodgy outfit. But we didn't *know* for sure when we paid up (talking generally, as I didn't part with cash in the end, but very nearly did) - it certainly wasn't part of the promotional material where the weapons - total number, sizes, etc - were touted as part of that promo process. That's false advertising. Now, I'm aware of the general disclaimer that white knights and brown noses always allude to (you know the type, right? 😀) stating it's all subject to change, but I reckon there's a contestable grey area here, because one is purchasing the right to use a defined and distinctive virtual/digital entity and sold as a product with a specification. A specification is never subject to change *after the fact*, not for physical items. The same could be (and should be) argued here. Of course, finding a lawyer who can tackle the lore, legend and tragedy of CIG is another matter, and the hardest part.
They normally do this when a new ship is coming, so you could melt it and use the credits to buy the new powerful ship, also they may have done a golden pass on the Connie's (they boffued them for a reason) so you could change it for a Connie if they did that

People really need to close the wallet and force them to finish the game to a large extent. But The whales will whale I guess lol... The game will never be finished. There is not an incentive to do it, making that much money every year with the Alpha excuse nahh. They keep us busy changing, nerfing and adding very little into the actual gameplay that we’re loosing site of the final goal. I’m glad some of us see it that way. We have to get together and raise the voice, will it change anything probably not, again why will they want to finish a game, never why? It’s business that’s all and they found the perfect strategy to f@&k us. At the end we’re all guilty CIG take advantage of all of us. I think this "nerf" is on point. The 2 front bottom guns always looked like they should be controlled by the copilot seat, and having them be on a swivel will actually give the corsair more coverage for defending itself. I feel like this definitely upsets people who are using the corsair as a soloable oldschool redeemer.. which is just too much gun for a single person.
So the copilot is suppose to run a turret, run two of the front guns that they can't aim, just push a button on, deal with engineering nonesense, and anything else. No. The ship was balanced. Fly like brick, hit like a brick. Now it will not have any value to solo players. Solo players make up 70% of the player base. Once solo players are completely forced out of medium sized ships the game will end.
@@Tbernard-s2n sad reality is that they're not catering to solo players flying multi-crew ships and they probably won't for a long time. NPC Crews are still just an unrealized fantasy and it's really hard to think they'll be able to do it well enough. I've been asking myself and a few others what is progression in SC. As it currently stands, it's not getting bigger ships, but there's really nothing else right now.
Just requested a refund on everything I’ve bought in the last 30 days totaling over $1,000. I loved this game but I won’t support it after this decision. If this were to be done IRL, it would be highly illegal. Shit, what they’re doing in game might even be illegal.
Lets not forget they are now making ships that probably let the medical rover fit as they are soon selling a dedicated medical ship, and bringing out things like inventory that won't work in older ships. All a money grab
It seems to me that CIG knows they can't produce the 1000 players per shard, so... they want most of us to quit? Or, Likely there will be a shiny new ship at the next ship sale, with powerful forward guns, that they want to sell.
That's sales strategy. as always happens with other online games. When something new comes along, the old toy is nerfed. the same thing is happening more and more at CIG. So that you can sell new ships more, old, good, popular ships are being nerfed.
I would like to see store credit go into escrow so that if you melt a ship, CIG looses access to that money until you choose to reinvest it. Loosing access to the money you already gave them is the only way CIG will ever treat you, your purchases and your money with respect. 😢
Corsair interior is depressing, the asymmetrical wings look dumb, flies like a loaf of poop, cant store a C8R properly, drake built. The least they could do is let it have all the guns.
What if they do this to the Corsair then Connie is inevitably next the only aspect the Corsair beat the Connie in was guns. You really think they're going to let the Connie have a snub, upgraded turrets, more Cargo, a believe more armor, etc and not nerf it. All we can hope is that because it's that because it is "Roberts Space Industries" Chris might not want to nerf it. :P We also have to take into consideration how many shields they are adding to ships that you know will be regulars in AI bounty missions.
The workers, the devs, know damn well what's going on and not one of them has the balls to say FU 2 CR and blow the whistle. They've forgotten what interested them in gaming and gaming dev to begin with; they've been tamed by the system and modern life, and never really held any principles. As such, they live in delusion, choosing to continue to believe in the daily propaganda. I bet they're not even paid that well, and they probably haven't learned that much since they discarded the basic gaming design fundamentals out the window long ago. So they're not that employable, and as such, they'll take the dollars and keep their mouths shut while they can. It will eventually bite them on the ass. The ...rider is censoring hard on spectrum. Chris is known for firing people who do not agree with him. Some of the devs are on screen, so of course they are following up and telling sweet lies. We also know that most of the devs never ever played star citizen, which is crazy for me. Many of their employees are very young therefore unexperienced in development and also "in life". Who do you think attends citcon? Only people who believe this crab, obviously. So you can expect standing ovation. And bad comments get censored in the live chat.
Nerfing meta is common. Look at warframe, the more meta a weapon is, the less powerful the Rivens become. No one complains, even after spending thousands of platinum on that meta Riven. Warframe Riven meta changes are not the same as SC, granted, but the idea is to bring in new meta. That's how they make sales. The balancing of ships will likely continue for years. I melted my Corsair a month or so ago, and i'll likely melt other ships later, depending on how those ships serve me or don't No need for me to inject new money.
Funny though, because SC have a disclaimer that the ships are subject to change and it's acknowledged on purchase. Any gamer should know that meta is a shifting mirage, why would SC be any different?, just melt and re-purchase to the new meta if that's what is being chased The only downside is the LTI token that may have to be re-purchased
I admit this had me concerned when I first heard about it. But I now believe it must be fake news... Here is why. Unless CIG intends on restructuring the hardpoints of the guns on the Corsair. There is no way that a co-pilot can control any guns of any ship without his/her own turret mount. The co-pilot presently has control of a remote turret that CAN BE AIMED by the co-pilot. Can you imagine the pilot having to shout out, fire now! fire now!!! This "nerf" would ONLY give the co-pilot control of the trigger :P Even if CIG were to give the co-pilot control of the wing guns, the SAME problem will apply (fire dam it, fire!). There is a way to do this if CIG desires to balance the Corsair. Take away the two S4 wing guns from the pilot and give the co-pilot turret two more S2 for a total of 4 x S2 remotely controlled guns. The DPS will be a little lower from the pilot but with a co-pilot present and the ability to independently aim an 4 x S2 turret will make the difference. I think this was a weird rumor that started who knows where but with the above solution it can really work well. Pass this on to CIG if any of you have the means... See you out there! o7

GEM - They didn't take away any guns. They rebalanced the ship for its intended design. Ok just hear me out.. When i first heard of these changes I also hated them - after all the corsair is my favorite ship and they were depriving me of OP power!! Now, the ship still has 6 nose guns (with 4 for the pilot which is still nothing to be sneezed at). But it always seemed crazy that this ship could be solo flown into ERT missions and just melt anything in it's path. Making something this OP for 1 pilot imo is just bad design. The Corsair IS a multicrew ship and now the copilot must choose between Offensive operations along with the pilot still giving you that power, or defensive operations long with the other turret gunners which i feel makes for more strategic gameplay. It can still do everything that it did before, but it the corsair is an EXPEDITION class ship - and I feel expeditions are a multicrew thing. If multicrew ships aren't for you then just fly a single seater - there are plenty of good options out there. Anyways, hope i haven't ruffled any feathers - i'm just looking at it objectively.

I think the Corsair was always overgunned (and I have one), but moving 2 of the guns to the co-pilot is stupid. Downsizing the four front guns would’ve made more sense. Now, stand by for a new gunship concept to show up soon.

Play CIG at their own game and melt the old, buy the new with credit. No new money spent and you will always have the meta ship. Just don’t upgrade your starter package. I guess the main issue is this "meta mindset" of many people, on the other hand, i would be upset too, if they would nerf my favorite ship to a polnt, where i cant use it anymore for the 'current available" gameloops, but i dont believe that this will be the case for the corsair. As enemy, i always felt the corsair to be way more tankier than constelation series. When doing vhrt's and ert's i always try to aim for the engines, with that tactic, ships like connies (all of them), Misc-freelancer or cutlass are cripled in no time, not so for the corsair.
Meh, idk. Until npc/blades Armor and the rest of the systems i can't care too much. Melting and swaping ships are easy enough to swap back and forth. I took a break from playing cig until they brought out interesting stuff. Will try 4.0, but then wait for at least blades. Hopefully, you can select guns to seats like they said. But the corsair got done dirty. But so did my carrack. It's a good time for a break until core ship functions get implemented, and it is about damn time they get into the game.
I yesterday did 2 ert's in my taurus very well. Had a hammerhead and a redeemer as enemies. I can understand many of the points that are posted here, about the companies greed an such..... but i also starting to think that many people are just upset because their "meta" is about to be killed.

I have to say, anyone who thought the corsair was NOT going to get nerfed at some point was dreaming. It was always overpowered for its role and price point - seriously, with firepower comparable to the Redeemer gunship (nearly double the price) "too good to be true" was literally always going to be too good to be true. And yes, CIG actually does make a point of saying ships can and will be balanced over time. The next to be nerfed will be the F7C mk 2, which is horribly over-gunned for its price and role as well.
Well, of course we *thought* it would get nerfed, merely based on the track record of this dodgy outfit. But we didn't *know* for sure when we paid up (talking generally, as I didn't part with cash in the end, but very nearly did) - it certainly wasn't part of the promotional material where the weapons - total number, sizes, etc - were touted as part of that promo process. That's false advertising. Now, I'm aware of the general disclaimer that white knights and brown noses always allude to (you know the type, right? 😀) stating it's all subject to change, but I reckon there's a contestable grey area here, because one is purchasing the right to use a defined and distinctive virtual/digital entity and sold as a product with a specification. A specification is never subject to change *after the fact*, not for physical items. The same could be (and should be) argued here. Of course, finding a lawyer who can tackle the lore, legend and tragedy of CIG is another matter, and the hardest part.

They normally do this when a new ship is coming, so you could melt it and use the credits to buy the new powerful ship, also they may have done a golden pass on the Connie's (they boffued them for a reason)

The game will never be finished. There is not an incentive to do it, making that much money every year with the Alpha excuse nahh. They keep us busy changing, nerfing and adding very little into the actual gameplay that we’re loosing site of the final goal. I’m glad some of us see it that way. We have to get together and raise the voice, will it change anything probably not, again why will they want to finish a game, never why? It’s business that’s all and they found the perfect strategy to f@&k us. At the end we’re all guilty CIG take advantage of all of us. I think this "nerf" is on point. The 2 front bottom guns always looked like they should be controlled by the copilot seat, and having them be on a swivel will actually give the corsair more coverage for defending itself.
I feel like this definitely upsets people who are using the corsair as a soloable oldschool redeemer.. which is just too much gun for a single person.
so co-pilot needs to pick and choose which of the two turrets he needs to use? Yeah, the co-pilot controlled another before.
So the copilot is suppose to run a turret, run two of the front guns that they can't aim, just push a button on, deal with engineering nonesense, and anything else. No. The ship was balanced. Fly like brick, hit like a brick. Now it will not have any value to solo players. Solo players make up 70% of the player base. Once solo players are completely forced out of medium sized ships the game will end.
@@Tbernard-s2n sad reality is that they're not catering to solo players flying multi-crew ships and they probably won't for a long time. NPC Crews are still just an unrealized fantasy and it's really hard to think they'll be able to do it well enough.
I've been asking myself and a few others what is progression in SC. As it currently stands, it's not getting bigger ships, but there's really nothing else right now.

It was a condition of the first purchase. If CIG break it, it is a breach of contract and CIG have to return the money.
That's sales strategy. as always happens with other online games. When something new comes along, the old toy is nerfed. the same thing is happening more and more at CIG. So that you can sell new ships more, old, good, popular ships are being nerfed.

I would like to see store credit go into escrow so that if you melt a ship, CIG looses access to that money until you choose to reinvest it. Loosing access to the money you already gave them is the only way CIG will ever treat you, your purchases and your money with respect. 😢

Look at warframe, the more meta a weapon is, the less powerful the Rivens become.
No one complains, even after spending thousands of platinum on that meta Riven.
Warframe Riven meta changes are not the same as SC, granted, but the idea is to bring in new meta.
That's how they make sales.
The balancing of ships will likely continue for years.
I melted my Corsair a month or so ago, and i'll likely melt other ships later, depending on how those ships serve me or don't

I admit this had me concerned when I first heard about it.
But I now believe it must be fake news...
Here is why.
Unless CIG intends on restructuring the hardpoints of the guns on the Corsair.
There is no way that a co-pilot can control any guns of any ship without his/her own turret mount.
The co-pilot presently has control of a remote turret that CAN BE AIMED by the co-pilot.
Can you imagine the pilot having to shout out, fire now! fire now!!!
This "nerf" would ONLY give the co-pilot control of the trigger :P
Even if CIG were to give the co-pilot control of the wing guns, the SAME problem will apply (fire dam it, fire!).
There is a way to do this if CIG desires to balance the Corsair. Take away the two S4 wing guns from the pilot and give the co-pilot turret two more S2 for a total of 4 x S2 remotely controlled guns.
The DPS will be a little lower from the pilot but with a co-pilot present and the ability to independently aim an 4 x S2 turret will make the difference.
I think this was a weird rumor that started who knows where but with the above solution it can really work well.
Pass this on to CIG if any of you have the means...

This is how abusive relationsships "work". If the weaker partner has not run away after being abused for the first few times, it will go on for a long time.
GEM - They didn't take away any guns. They rebalanced the ship for its intended design. Ok just hear me out.. When i first heard of these changes I also hated them - after all the corsair is my favorite ship and they were depriving me of OP power!! Now, the ship still has 6 nose guns (with 4 for the pilot which is still nothing to be sneezed at). But it always seemed crazy that this ship could be solo flown into ERT missions and just melt anything in it's path. Making something this OP for 1 pilot imo is just bad design. The Corsair IS a multicrew ship and now the copilot must choose between Offensive operations along with the pilot still giving you that power, or defensive operations long with the other turret gunners which i feel makes for more strategic gameplay. It can still do everything that it did before, but it the corsair is an EXPEDITION class ship - and I feel expeditions are a multicrew thing. If multicrew ships aren't for you then just fly a single seater - there are plenty of good options out there. Anyways, hope i haven't ruffled any feathers - i'm just looking at it objectively.

I think the Corsair was always overgunned (and I have one), but moving 2 of the guns to the co-pilot is stupid. Downsizing the four front guns would’ve made more sense.

You do realize that you can just melt the Corsair and buy the MISC Starlancer, right? Assuming the rumors are true. Don’t get sentimental with your fleet. Play CIG at their own game and melt the old, buy the new with credit. No new money spent and you will always have the meta ship.
Just don’t upgrade your starter package. You can’t melt that unless you’ve spent over $1000 I think it is.
I guess the main issue is this "meta mindset" of many people, on the other hand, i would be upset too, if they would nerf my favorite ship to a polnt, where i cant use it anymore for the 'current available" gameloops, but i dont believe that this will be the case for the corsair. As enemy, i always felt the corsair to be way more tankier than constelation series. When doing vhrt's and ert's i always try to aim for the engines, with that tactic, ships like connies (all of them), Misc-freelancer or cutlass are cripled in no time, not so for the corsair.
Meh, idk. Until npc/blades Armor and the rest of the systems i can't care too much. Melting and swaping ships are easy enough to swap back and forth. I took a break from playing cig until they brought out interesting stuff. Will try 4.0, but then wait for at least blades. Hopefully, you can select guns to seats like they said. But the corsair got done dirty. But so did my carrack. It's a good time for a break until core ship functions get implemented, and it is about damn time they get into the game.
Probably be selling one blade for 500$ or something.

I yesterday did 2 ert's in my taurus very well. Had a hammerhead and a redeemer as enemies. I can understand many of the points that are posted here, about the companies greed an such..... but i also starting to think that many people are just upset because their "meta" is about to be killed.
