The Ouse Valley Singles Club are a band that are heavily influenced by the traditional sounds of 1950's Skiffle but combine that with the energy of Rock and Roll and Punk. They are not a regular 'Jug and Bottle' type band, their sound is kind of New Wave Skiffle and has been described as "George Formby meets The Clash" and goes down well everywhere they play with a variety of audiences.
Humorous in nature the songs work well in any venue with both young and old...
They have played and been well received in pubs, clubs and festivals all over the UK. Locally they are regulars in Bedford's Esquires Music Venue where they are as popular with the Indie/Rock/Muso crowd as they are with your Real Ale afficiano's

I'm from the Fens. Some people find it flat and uninteresting but the skyscapes are uninterrupted and beautiful. It has a bleakness in Winter which is also beautiful. It has a reputation for being a 'backwater' but the people are very loyal. And we can take a joke. Luckily. Great song guys. Feeling nostalgic.
I always find the winters around here so mystical and eerie, but in a very freeing way. It's often quiet and misty and I enjoy just walking for miles and miles in it with headphones in it getting lost.
😮😮😮😮😅😅l m bpp
We lived at Burnham on Crouch on the Dengie peninsular which is very similar to the fens.
Probably why we also Love the fens and we used to love dancing in Whittlesea at the Straw Bear festival when I danced with Good Easter Molly... well.. till we got ASBO'd by the organisers for dancing outside the Bricklayers arms as we had done for years. Health n bloody safety gone mad ! but yeah... I'm with you, the Fens are Beautiful and the people are lovely.
Talking of which, we'll be in Ely this Saturday for the Ouse washes day of dance :O)
I can’t be the only one to recognize the genuine depth of emotion expressed in this song ?
nigel mitchell - you aren't - I have thought for some time that this in fact a rather beautiful love song - as well as being fucking funny!!
Fantastic song. For some strange unfathomable reason my wife would not let me have this as one of our wedding songs. Got it in at the reception mind!
She gets a nosebleed above sea level... what a great line...
This makes me proud to be from the Fens!!!
The line about the gypsy gets me lol’ing...
Your telling me mate as a traveller I can say the first time I heard that line to laughed my ass off
As a Fens Lad (A Norfolk Dumplin') I love this because I see the love that we share for the land and our women folk.
At last, someone who understands me and my old gel and wot we're about. Now our children can wear their long sleeved clothing with pride, even exposing their hands when it's sunny. Signed deepingdruid.......Love,Light n Peace
I'm from Kings Lynn...the line where civilisation ends... I love it
I moved from Spalding to derby still have not found civilisation lol
I married a Lynn girl, batshit crazy, but i love her and great backup in a fight!
She took me to a place where a farmer shot a gypsy, best line in the song!!
The fens are beautiful 😍
We could all take a page out of this man's book and accept things for what they are, and learn to love things for what they are, people, life and land. It's much easier when we just accept and learn to love.
Nothing more satisfying in life than loving your land and the people who occupy it ❤️❤️❤️
Love this. Just come back from the Fens.....Ely Folk Festival. Greetings from Oxfordshire🥰
haha! great song!. i love it.. my girl came from the fens too :) but she ain't got a extra finger :)

As a man from Wisbech, this is very true
I’m from Peterborough and we are posh. Such a true song
Hahaha are we? 😂
From Littleport here, born in the RAF hospital.
Absolutely love this, my lad said to me “this song is about you” and I haven’t heard it before then realised when I got home what it was about
Love this so much! Really makes me smile and remember what it's like... Love it!! from a girl from the fens.
pollymarch Mather :)
This is a wonderful song- in fact it's one of the greatest songs of the last decade.....shame Whittlesey didn't get a name check though............
I married a girl from the fens! A Wisbech girl at that. She never wanted to leave but life kinda screwed her. This song makes her cry ever time. One day I’ll get to take her home.
Aw, I love this!! Being a fen girl myself I can’t believe I’d never heard it! Was introduced to it the other night by my best friend, fellow fen girl and almost choked on me pint! 😂 Hilarious and tender all at the same time. Thanks!
coming from the edge of the fen this songs really speaks to me!!

Love this song and I’m from Chatteris I’m proud to be from Fenland
This is brilliantly heart warming, funny and very well produced. Keep up the good work!
The Fens are a weird place, full of foreboding but a unique environment!!
Proud to be born in the capital of the fens, Wisbech, in 1969 and I lived in Outwell
Born in Wisbech many years ago. Loved the bit about carrot topping. Many a time did that after school for pocket money
Love this absolute legend who wrote this ! Its definitely true :)
I love it
Hahahahahaha lovin it!! From a farm boy born in Tottenhill. See you in the Crown, Littleport one day.
Sheeeeeesh
Great stuff 😂😂😂
This reminds me of my childhood as I moved down south a few years ago so brings back some memories love this
Great tune! Lovely playing. Love the Banjo Ukulele too!
I love this song.
I’ve only just heard of this song! My boyfriend said that this song is about you 🤣Just because I’m a girl from the fens 🤣Brilliant song though!!
Love it great song must be more
Discovered you at Silverstone, what an awesome gig. I can't wait to see you again soon 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
As a yank I can relate to the what we call the "redneck"aspects of the story. It is the unwashed unpolished endoskeleton of the human spirit encasing a wonderfully satisfied, content and creative gooey innards.(that went a bit gruesome towards the end there, what with the gooey innards and all. sorry bout that.) I love y'all like chicken, don't you ever change. Bye
Daddy Dragon sent me. Great song and video! have liked and and shared.
Only just discovered this and your other great music, being a fen dweller I love it! So does my missus, who curiously can't spread her toes......hmmmm :) Looking forward to seeing you play when you're next in P'boro!
Now dhats how we make sound from a ukelele...Gal from the fence...2017...and am loving it!! Big up my man!!
Barron's an old boy from the fens then. See you in Soham. Big like to you all from big sky country.
Very good song and video, all very natural and full of fun, I also like your song "What you wanted to hear" too, lovely Lady, lovely voice. I look forward to your next song!
Love those Fen people. Warm hearted lovely folk. There's something special about the small towns on the Fens such as Whittlesea and March. A bit daggy in places but the town has heart. Something sadly lacking in most places these days.
I moved from march 17 years ago to a big city. Prefer march so much . Maybe one day i will go back to mh roots
I used to dance at the Whittlesea Straw bear festival with Good Easter Molly for quite a number of years til we got ASBO'd by the organisers ( as did many other sides) but we befriended a wonderful family who we still keep in touch with and sadly we went to one of their funerals in March crematorium this year. March is a lovely place and we had lunch in a fab pub by the river. The bar staff were so friendly.
I’m born and raised in Whittlesea, they have changed the name to Whittlesey now.
Oi am happy oi have got the Whittlesey accent and speak a little of the dialect

Westwood here.
I used to love going to Slacks in March.
I've been to the Fens and would move there tomorrow if I could.
I know a lot about Norfolk and the Fens in general and I'm Irish.
Class song and video.
I'm from the fen and I have webbed toes
Pure class.
Brilliant
LOVE THIS TRACK !!!
This is brilliant.
This is almost like a national anthem for the fens
The first time i randomly heard this on spotify shuffle i walked pass a midget in the middle of the city center
Excellent!
Splendid!
Love it. Well done guys. Perhaps you could do a wisbech song. On second thoughts, that would need a double CD to fully exploit.
Elvis did a song about Wisbech it’s called in the ghetto
Excellent.
I am a proud fenman
Love it 👍

A fellow fenboy I see
Hahahaha excellent idea!
Dear BAND FOLKS
Hello you funny buggers! ...
I absolutely loved seeing you at Harliquin this year (2016), danced myself silly with my folks. High, vibrant, funny, and jiggly music... Just what we need at a festival. Awesome!
Subbed.
Can we have some personal videos maybe? viewpoints, so fans can get to know you guys a bit. Just a thought.
All the best, good fortune, kieron
a joy to have found you
;)

Having this for my wedding some, marrying my fen girl
you should perform this at Manea gala this weekend
In the land of woke this is so refreshing
I got a fever! And the only prescription, is more sugar beet
Clearly never been to Peterborough
Is that because of the posh reference you say that ?? Clearly that's a nod to Peterborough football club.
Spalding here
My teacher is the lady 😂
Just saw you guys recently at Dragstalgia , fuckin' killed it ... outstanding
I lived in Georgia for 15 years and this is way too close to some of the people I met there. Bwahahaha
თავისუფლება 🇬🇪💪🏻
nothing wrong with the fens i will live there for the rest of my life.
do like this though.
Heather Pace 😂
Shootout from March
So I'm guessing Fens would translate to "Backwoods" for us American types.
I've never herd of the term black-woods but the fens is a bit shit I've lived here for 14 years and I would happily move tomorrow. All it is is fields of farm land and Peterborough is not posh but it's the closes 'big' city we have.
Lol. Backwoods not Black Woods! www.dictionary.com/browse/backwoods Basically it refers to really rural areas and the people in them. When this type of thing occurs in the mountains the people there are called Mountain-folk or Hillbillies. People from the backwoods are considered uncouth, uneducated, unrefined, or all three.
+Tariq Ali... pretty much that Tariq... it's farmland and reasonably remote in comparison to a lot of places in the uk
Hi more explaination... some things missing
“Fens” doesnt equate to hillbillies, uncouth. The mention of “fens” here is said with pride. Back in the celtic, anglosaxon times the Iceni tribe, lead by a woman called Boudicia fort off the romans... this pride still remains today.
In 17 hundreds. Greedy people tried to get their hands on the land by fair means or foul, fencing off areas and expelling the commoners - sometimes even seizing their animals - and took possession of the land for themselves unlawfully. But the fens folk could not easily be bullied into submitting. As a result many family turned into rebels = "fens" folk are hard basterds!
... so connotations of pride, strength, togetherness
These band folks just so happen to be into the festival scene, and living on the land
all the best
Pretty much mate, although the fens are a distinct landscape: Originally boggy and largely underwater, now drained and reclaimed using Dutch technology and methods it is a vast stretch of flat and fertile farmland. A saying I quite like is that 'theres more sky than anywhere else in the world.' The horizon is a straight line in every direction.
The word fens itself describes the landscape, although it is synonymous with 'backwoods', or more common in the UK: 'Shithole.'
16 foot that
Love this song. I would also like to purchase the unpolished version.
I can assure you that there is nothing Polish in this song whatsoever
Andrew Barron Spelling was never my strong point :-p Hope sales are going well. Keep up the good work.
Thing is thou Peterborough is not posh in the slightest thou... I'm from there 😂
It's a play on words. P'boro might be considered " a bit Posh" to outlying areas and.. "The POSH" geddit ?
there's an average speed camera there now
