I love the Philly shell it’s so natural to me and I went to a kickboxing class for the first time with it and it didn’t go well. I want to know how to incorporate the Philly shell into some kickboxing stance so I can still parry, counter, and weave while I can also check and throw kicks
What’s weird about me is my kicking stance is super narrow and my boxing is bladed and wide, so I kind of do the reverse I stay narrow then use my step jab to get into my punchers stance
Am I right in saying muay Thai fighters tend to have more narrow stances so checking kicks is easier! Dutch kickboxing is wider due to more boxing and mma is wider due to having to defend take downs ect ?
@@stuartbond2280 yes exactly right. That’s why I feel like my kicker stance is narrow and in the back foot and when I’m punching my weights on my front foot and wider.
Good video, but when you show stances you should show your entire body. Just showing the upper body is not enough to understand what you are doing with your feet. Keep up the good work :)
Pls can you put french translation in your videos for the quebec side and for french countries,it would be great . Thanks and good video by the way. Keep working 👌✌💪🏽
@@mikea7732 I don´t know if you have watched the footage of him trying to explore the traditional Thai guard, if you haven´t, then here it is mate: ruclips.net/video/hT_zm8uNhS8/видео.html
No connor could have just used foot movement to get away, he just was not expecting it, the boxing stance offers speed, muay stance is too vulnerable to takedowns.
Is there a video of MMA stance, i see fighters just use the boxing stance. They do not block as its too difficult from a boxers stance, I guess MMA guys prefer the speed that the boxing stance offers, also wrestling takedowns are easier from the boxing stance. Also fighters just aborb kicks as its too painfful to block, also they can counter faster from absorbing kicks. Just saying.
I notice that too, how MMA fighters seem to utilize more of a boxing stance for footwork and takedown defense..however not all boxing stances are bladed. Some are relatively squared up. I think an effective MMA stance is kind of a hybrid of the 2. It isn't wise to keep taking leg kicks without checking them
I've been training for 40 years. It's very, very, very rare to see this level of skill, understanding and ability to teach! Thank you for sharing. 🙌🏻
This is exactly what I need, thank you Bazooka Joe
I swear , I am like a little kid at Christmas every time I get notifications that a new video is uploaded , Thank you Joe!!!

Check out George St Pierre's MMA stance. Helps to settle your curiosity.
