Great recap. You're right about SC's first half defense. Michigan's ball movement caused them fits.
I was at the game. She played a great floor game. Was patient on offense and hunted for shots within the offense.
I picked Syla Swords to lead all Freshmen in scoring over the summer. Looks good so far

bigs also aways overperform in NCAAW because size matters more you play 5,5 -5,6 guaards 24/7 etc.
For example look at top big picks like Kalani Brown & Teaira McCowan dominate NCAAW /good numbers meanwhile, very hard time in WNBA and not adapting well at all.

Although South Carolina brought back a lot, there are still adjustments with role players taking on bigger roles. Chloe Kitts came to work, and the rest of the frontcourt will get to a point where they can gel. Although there is talent, most of the group has limited experience as a unit. Cardoso and Watkins are missed. The guards will have to lead until the front court gels, but they will get hounded more until the front court makes opposing defenses pay.

I could see Watkins starting at the 5, instead of Sania Feagin. As the season progresses, I could see Kitts and Watkins starting and Edward’s and Adhel Tac on rotation.

SC is so deep because they blow out teams with time left so their bench gets valuable minutes and experience. Rinse and repeat. Starters graduate, bench steps in, blows teams out, new bench gets minutes

MY thoughts are that Coach Taylor just got exposed. Lauren Ware too. They scored less than 15 points in all but one quarter at home. They shot 27% at home. They lost the turnover battle with 20. All against Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. Ware had 6 points on only 4 shots. Why? Can't blame Barker right now for wanting to leave.

Why do they need to put them on they almost lost to an un ranked team so what is there to be worried about. It’s the first game jitters for all so let’s get another game under the belt before having a strong opinion about their season.

My personal take is most of the ppl that are talking about this SC team is ppl who this SC team beat and they really hope this team is terrible this year so their favs can take SC spot but tbh Dawn scheduled these games so they will be battle tested in March when it matters I don’t have a dog in this fight but Dawn will have them right 💯

Stating the truth is not hating. SC almost played a closely contested game against an unranked team. Quita doesn't hate on SC. Stop being so defensive. We all know Dawn is trying stuff out and SC will be better. Nobody is hating on SC, they just didn't look good with the exception of 2 players.

@@alanlee3236and that unranked team had a player who played in the Olympics against AND with grown women! Swords may be a freshmen but she has international experience and exposure. Stop acting like you don't know . She is a true freshmen in name only. SC slowed her down and shut down that drive to the rim in 2nd half.🤷‍♀️ We good over here.👍

I assumed the plan was for TVO to play more PG so JuJu can play more off the play. But she got in foul trouble early. We will see how the season progress. They lack a true PG on the team. Always difficult to ask your best scorer to be the primary playmaker. This is why Pippen was the point forward during the Bulls peak. This is why Draymond played that role during GSW peak.

Oh...and lukewarm take...USC practice squad needs to go much harder on Juju and company. It felt like they weren't used to playing against a defense.
