    Memoirs
    --------------
The distinguished forgotten artist , Brijbhushan Kabraa ji
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The progressive child Brij bhushan Kabra was born in 1937. He saw in 1956 the lap slide guitar , in Kolkata. Brijbhushan modified it to use this Western instrument in classical music . Initially he learnt classical at his own , played the instrument . Later on became disciple of ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
In 1967 when Brijbhushan kabara ji was on top , he discovered two unknown young artists shivkumar Sharma and hariprasad chaurasiya. , No one knew shiv and hariprasad then . Brijbhushan kabara ji brought them to the fore , The music director of "call of the valley "was none other than shri Kabraji.
He was Brijbhushan only , who introduced these two new artists .
But unfortunately shiv and hari abandoned shri kabara.
Kabra was suffering with Rheumatoid arthritis for eight years , shiv hari never went to see him . Even tried to remove his name from" call of the valley ." Even in interviews , these two used to take the whole credit of the vally project . They never mentioned kabra's name
Pandit vishwmohan Bhatt ji , made Mohan Veena on basis of kabra ji 's guitar but unfortunately he also took credit for himself and didn't even realise to put forth the name of Mr Brijbhushan kabra.
Sad to note, this is the field of pious art, where true artists are this way exploited .
    Dr Ishwarchandra Karkare

Really sad to note about Shiv and Hari. We used to listen HMV LP of The Call of the Valley. We enjoyed live concert of Kabras's guitar in Akhil Bhartiy sangeet Paishad at C N Vidyalaya Ahmedad in November 1978.

The sound man has not given the proper sound to Zakir ji🙏 but he always rocks always parnaam

Zakir's level is appropriate, he is supporting Kabra's playing as he should. No need to rock out. Alla Rakha knew well how this is done and his son knows when to relax the virtuosity display.

Beloved Guru Brijbushan- I have found you, since Amazon music seems to have abandoned you. Not even my music list retained you.
    With Zakirji no less(!)
    Blessings to all 🕉

What year was this? Looks to be late 1960s. Zakir looks so young. I wonder if Pt. Kabra ever experimented with effects pedals. He could have been a rock star if he had gone that route and toured the US, if he was so inclined.

Some similarities, but also some important differences. Of course, the biggest difference is that Kabraji's is a Gibson Super 400 with strings modified. Both use three melody strings, usually tuned Sa Pa Sa. At least in the early days, the Gibson did not have sympathetic strings, although the later recordings do seem to have some. Mohan Veena has sympathetic strings. Both have chikaris, but the Mohan Veena has a high Sa' chikari (with a jawari) in addition to the three other chikari strings.

First of all, please remember that Pt. Biswa Bhatt was a shagird of Pdt. Brij-bhusan Kabra. though Vishwamohan ji never accepts it.
