    hi! I have trigeminal neuralgia from a dentist shot gone wrong numbing my lower right jaw but i LOVE the didgeridoo ...so i was determined to figure out how to pay without hurting as bad from nerve pain that is sometimes very debilitating especially when irritated. and YOU helped me. by saying to shift it to another piece of my mouth. so thank you!!!

      As an Australian, I respect the Australian Indigenous culture. It's taboo for females to play the yidaki (aka didgeridoo in westerners language) dreamtime stories claim it's cursed for them and will bring infertility.

    The didgeridoo is essentially a large brass instrument. What you are doing to find your drone is essentially tightening or loosening your lips, making various different notes, until you find the one your didgeridoo resonates with, which causes a significant amplification of the sound.

    • @SoundAdventurer
      @SoundAdventurer  Год назад +4

      Yep. And then you realize that brass instruments are all just tubes. They're all tubes!
      There's also very limited evidence that the material of the tube even matters--it's more likely the texture is what makes an instrument's sound. Or at least 95% of it.

    I got a 6 ft bamboo stake from ace hardware for $2.50 and nocked out all the inner rings I think I’m getting the drone there’s definitely a pitch that seems different then the rest. Would you recommend cutting the bamboo shorter? Would the ridges from the inner rings cause problems would it be better if it was entirely smooth inside?

    Thank you so much for sharing this instructional video!!! I have come to it by way of a sleep study as I suffer from UARS (Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome). It is not quite apnea, but a disturbance in my night time breathing which causes many awakenings and a lot of daytime fatigue as a result.
    Right now I am using a 17" vacuum cleaner tube as my 'instrument.' I can get a 'sick moose' drone and make a lot of different sounds, but because I have such allergies, circular breathing is eluding me. I just read about the Orange Swirl PVC instrument and hope it would be a good choice as I am a very small person with a small mouth. Do you think that is a good choice? Any other recommendations?
    So far I'm having fun, am noticing an improvement in my sleep (and really irritating my partner). Thanks again for posting this!

    • @SoundAdventurer
      @SoundAdventurer  3 года назад +3

      I've not tried the orange swirl PVC instrument but I have researched them and I think it's a fantastic choice. If you need to modify the mouthpiece to fit your mouth you can use beeswax (or some people use a PVC to rubber grommet attachment). A longer instrument than 17" will make a tremendous difference and make it easier to do the circular breathing.

    Hello I have piercings and would it bother to play? And also when I try to play my lips stop bouncing

    • @SoundAdventurer
      @SoundAdventurer  Год назад

      Great question! I haven't tried it with piercings so you might have to tell me how that goes!
      If your lips stop vibrating, you might be putting on too much pressure. You want just enough pressure for there to be a firm seal with your lips (air shouldn't be escaping around the mouthpiece, only through the didgeridoo)
      After that, you might have to put more air pressure through your lips, themselves. Like you're making that horse sneeze sound.
      Good luck!

    One small tip (while I'm learning circular breathing!): instead of the straw trick, push your index finger against your lips and let the air from your cheeks escape out of the small corner between lips and finger.
