We are a homesteading, homeschooling family of 7. Due to recent events (job loss/career change, health issues, rising food costs, etc.) we are having a hard time making ends meet despite our best efforts at frugality. So we are tapping into our local food banks to help us feed our family. Come along as I show you what we are blessed with, what we add to it via grocery store and garden, and how I use it all to nourish our bodies.

If you toast orzo in a fry pan with butter til golden brown...then simmer in broth...gives it a whole different flavor

After cooking the orzo in the way you described, add a little parmesan cheese.
Liked your story at the end about liking to watch different people's channels! Your channel is one of my all time favorite channels because I like your vibe, I too am Christian and go to the food pantry, and you've given me some great meal ideas 😊.. we're completely opposite in that I'm single with no children, I live alone and I do love to cook and I work outside the home as a nurse's aide. There is a lady I watch who shows great deals using coupons at stores like Walgreen’s, CVS, ShopRite and Walmart. It’s called Couponing with Isa. She gets a food pantry haul about once a month too . I think you’ll like her channel 😊.
I love food pantry hauls. And I am jealous when places have ones you can opt into by paying for a share. I need that in my life since I do not qualify fir food pantries.
Food Bank tips are great. Taste test recommendations are fantastic. I will buy based on these tips. Different cooking ideas are my favorites. Thank you for sharing. Let your brother know why so many enjoy watching food hauls. We all have our thing.

I hear you with the grocery haul vids 😂😅. I WISH i could walk into the store and buy what I want! I'm too frugal. Whats shocking to me is the amount of money they are able to spend. Lots of money flowing in this country. I also watch 2 food pantry vids (😊💛) to see how different pantries operate. I volunteer and we are always looking to improve.

Great haul
On the raspberry lemonade, you could dilute it further with water and or sparkling water for you to enjoy too. The girls (hamsters) love the baby food. Minnie will runs over to enjoy it as soon I give them some. It keeps disappearing in both cages, they do eat things like meat, cereal, bird food, sunflower seeds (daisy loves them ), nuts like peanuts in shells etc. This is in small amounts too.

Cooking, not so much. It is usually a madhouse here when I am cooking. Lol
I do have garden tours though.

Nice haul
I don't know if anyone else has had this issue but on a regular basis food that I buy for full price in the grocery store is expired or rotten. It happens almost weekly, if I go back with my receipt I've gotten a refund but that is very inconvenient. Same goes with cans and broken boxes etc.. back in the day, they always had an area or shelf at the back of the store that had all the expired, damaged stuff.. marked down. Now those are just left on the shelf.

Also, it is so interesting what people like to wa/ch. You know what drives me nuts is the videos for kids where it's just kids or worse adults playing with toys. I told my kids they don't need to waste their time like that but here I am watching other people's groceries 😅
You got a nice haul, but unless I missed it , I didn't see any meat in the haul.
We got some ground deer meat this time but no, there wasn't much this time.

Your hubby will probably like the Dude wipes but I just get baby wipes because they're cheaper. Also I'm a girl driver. They do have a nice man smell to them.
He does just take baby wipes with him. Thought this would be a nice treat.

The Propel powder 10 pk in the tubes if you buy in the store costs $5.97 comes in 4 flavors kiwi strawberry, berry, grape and raspberry lemonade last month I got 24 pk of each flavor. I took a lot of that to a place downtown that provides lunch and supper, showers and laundry facilities for less fortunate people and I have been getting more from other pantries. My daughter really likes the kiwi strawberry and grape.
Years ago I worked Sam's Club for a short while I worked in the produce section and what they did is we opened up bags that had one or two bad apples weighed and made full bags did this with all the bagged fruit
