The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

It is difficult to describe, even as a Brit (admittedly with Welsh heritage) the pride our mixed nation still has of this man. He is, for my money, the greatest post-war British voice.
He's all alone, no chorus, no band, no dancers, yet still he's filling the scene, he doesn't need anyone else, that's awesome.
Yep a real entertainer just needs a stage, a stool to sit on and maybe a guitar to move you.
TOM JONES SUPER !!! BRAVO !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Tom Jones doing it the natural way really looking good Thanks
wow thats tom jones a one in a billion
Certainly there is a band, I can hear it.
A naturally talented performer and super powerful singer!! Love Tom Jones!
Love Him ❤
If you attempt to apply Auto-Tune to Tom's voice, the system immediately crashes out of sheer embarrassment. True story.
His voice is simply perfection.
Prime time for me. I had just turned 14 in April 1965
Those snaps!!
What a voice.
Name an artist that is even close today?!
Boy does that take me back I forgot how good he was and probably still is...
Unique talent👍👍👍
Perfect legend
My grandmother just passed away. Tom Jones was her favorite. I’m just picturing her watching this on her TV in 1965. RIP Nana
and now she's watching him sing in heaven...how cool is that
My moms fav too!! She and some freinds went to go see hom om concert when i was little around the mid late 60s!!!
God Bless you Nicholas!
E io sono bis,bis,bis,bis, i,m bis...è allora!?
Did she have a stroke? Lol
Credit where credit’s due. Dude’s got an unbelievably powerful voice.
He does....just to hear a beat and we all know is him

Tom Jones - It's Not Unusual
The Best
ALMOST PUSHED BUTTON
He has never forgotten his roots 🏴. He has has always made Wales known to the world 🏴
Oh how my Mom loved to watch this beautiful man. When his show was on, she'd sit on the edge of our couch & we weren't allowed to speak or walk in front of the TV. Miss you Mom, RIP. Thank you YT & for this. 😥🛐🎶✌️💚🕺🙋🤗
Beautiful forever !!
And still awesome today!
I wish more singers would just sing and have all the gaudy, glitzes and glamour going on. It’s the voice that counts
Problem is that most have no depth of voice and rely on Auto Tune.
Search RUclips for current artists without Auto Tune and you’ll see what I mean😮
Tom was als smoking hot tho
1964
Didn't miss a note. No strain in his voice on the high notes. Wonderful performance. Thanks for posting this gem.
Pay attention how relaxed he is! : )

The real Deal
I once saw him on stage, at Teddington studio . I was audience in a tv show and he was compare. He sang a duet with some z list American woman, she made the mistake of trying to out sing him. This is bad manners in the music biz, but Tom just turned up the wick a little at a time. When she ran out of range Tom was just hitting his peak. It was like watching a race car over taking a bicycle. He still is Jones the Voice, the only voice.
He's so groovy 😻
Grazie
The rhythm and power in that finger snap is so impressive for some reason
I was thinking the same thing and I was trying to do it. I couldn't
He’s keeping tempo
😅 100%
I thought it was a bit distracting.
@@sandymcreynolds2856 I'm sure he snaps his fingers almost unconsciously... and there's an overhead mic above his head that's picking up everything from the area. Which points out that he has amazing breath control.
Thanks for starting my day with music and joy. Tom Jones still looks amazing.
Love himmmmmm
This is one of my favorite songs!!!
He still has a fantastic voice!! Love it!!
Tom Jones was a phenomenal entertainer.
Legendary entertainer!
A natural force of nature.
When I was younger he was the sexiest man alive to me! I loved Tom Jones and that song is a classic. In the sitcom, The Fresh Prince of BelAir, when Carlton did that song and dance, it was so nostalgic! He payed mad respect to the legendary Tom Jones!
Pitch perfect, soulful, strong and no technology to enhance this voice. Wow….I never realized what a great singer he was and still is. He is in his 80s now and that voice is still as clear as ever.
The best,,❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The great Tom Jones
Interestingly, Ed Sullivan and CBS censors early on, would not allow Elvis Presley to be shown below the waist, yet, here we have TJ totally grinding. Love it!
Looks like he’s having so much fun. That is a real talent
his voice is one of a kind
Oooooooooooooooooo
O
O
Ooo
Respect.
talent.period
loved him then, love him still- what a voice!
Tom Jones is pure, raw sexiness. Yeah, he sings great too!
He speaks two of the hardest languages to learn. Yiddish and Hebrew might use the same writing system, but they are not easy to learn.
1965
A God of singing
No autotune!! Nice!
He’s keeping time with those snaps.
Tried the drums but stuck with singing.
1965
When I was younger, I thought he was cheezy. Watching him now, I realize what a phenomenal voice and stage presence he had (has). To be on arguably the biggest television program, on stage all by yourself, takes guts and talent. Hats off to you, Sir Tom.
same here I was into the British Invasion stuff looking back he ranks up there with Sinatra another one that aging made me realize greatness.
Same 😳 but I forgive my immature ears
Same I thought he was cheesy
@@Drezzedtokill1 If He Was Cheesy? I'll Have Myself, A Huge Hunk of That Cheese. That Man Had The Pipe's, The Look's, The Move's, & Oozed An Abundance of Sex Appeal.
I've loved TJ since I was 10,now 63. There were moments of cheesiness but millions of moments of greatness. 🤗
Awesome
This bloke is the GOAT, outputting more quality now than he was 55 years ago. And he's running a mullet in the 60's
A force of nature! Man, does Tom own a stage.
Wow !!!
Talented man.
Timeless and classic....
It's not unusual to love this performance 😂❤
tom jones the best back then ,now & forever more rock on no one can touch you youre the best
Pure class
Timeless, great, amazing. What else can I Say? Tom will go down in History as the greatest singer ever
He's enjoying singing, he's enjoying dancing, he's enjoying life. Such a great character, singer, person, etc...
He's enjoying that mullet, too. Mullet pioneer.

Magnifique
The best!!!❤❤❤
Hello amazing fan. It has come to my notice that some of my fans thinks I was the person who died. Late jones was The one who conceived the twist on Romeo and Juliet with composer John Donald Robb.
He died 11th August, of cancer in his home in Sharon.
I’m still alive and healthy.

Thanks dear fan.
Did you see him singing with Jennifer Hudson on an impromptu on the Voice? Amazing.
when 2 powerful fingers sound better than all the autotune computers and great montages of today's so-called artists.
Fantastico 😊
Phenomenal!
What a set of pipes he has!
I love me some Columbo too !😎
Love you, Tom Jones❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Very good. Great singer Tom Jones and big song!!!!❤😂🎉😅😊

Yeah, tommy was the man back then !!!
@@doughoward6401 still is for me
Man, I'm old as hell because I watched this episode when it was on TV.
I also saw the Beatles & The Stones.
Happy Almost 65th Birthday to me... I'll officially be a Senior Citizen, lol.

I am right behind you at 65; singing, dancing, out of breath yet extremely happy. I am so glad that Sir Tom Jones is still with us, & his voice is still stellar.
1965
Soulful
But loved his songs❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am reading Tom Jones’ autobiography right now. What a story. He had to grind for 25 years before he finally hit paydirt. My Dad always had a Tom Jones 8 track tape playing in our sports room or in his car. On trips to Boston from our home on Cape Cod I had all of Toms songs burned into my brain. Long live Tom Jones!!!
There's cool and then there's Tom Jones Cool.
SING TOM!!!
Form me is the best performance of this artist....
Such an amazing voice. I remember back then that there were so-called experts that said he needed to stop singing like that because he would ruin his voice. 58 years later and he still sings exactly the same way and sounds great. He’s got to be one of the greatest male singers ever!
Singing like what may I ask?
@@xvelvetkavanaghx419: So powerfully like in this video. Voice experts supposedly said that he did not sing technically correct and he was going to blow out his voice at an early age if he did not stop taxing and overusing his voice. Of course they were totally wrong.

NO BRASIL :
TOM JONNES
Style and swagger only he can handle
He's still got it; he always had it and always will.
Probably the only time I've ever heard him sing it in the original key of C live and he sounds flawless. Amazing singer.
I don’t why l love this song
good ol' Tom Jones.
Elvis Presley was a good friend and fan of Tom Jones.
Tom Jones is the closest singer to Elvis Presley while having his own style.
Good music doesn't grow old.
OMG……..just OMG😍😘😘
what a song
Tom is the real deal man got a set of pipes 🎤
He’s 80 something now, and I think the ladies will still throw their panties on stage when he performs
🤣🤣🤣
I think he is around 24 years old in this video.
He's 81 and touring. Seeing him Dec. 6, 2021!
@@Porkcfish Hope you enjoyed the show! Where was it?

What beautiful damn good voice!
I remember being in Jr. High when he hit the circuit... gosh, we'd just roll our eyes at all of our moms who were swooning over him. As i got older, i realized how ooolala he really was!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
If you aren’t doing the “Carlton” while listening, you’re really missing out on the experience 😂
As always, a great upload!
What’s the Carlton? It sounds like a woman’s cigarette.
@@thomaspick4123 from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. One of the characters, Carlton, would do a dance to this song that became associated with this song. And the actor who played,Alfonso Ribeiro, ended up competing on dancing with the stars and performed the dance to this song on there as well, for nostalgia’s sake. I’m sure you could find videos of them here on RUclips.
RIIIGHT!!!! I DID!! LOL
@@thomaspick4123 Really?? haha
The Carlton is awesome! And a lil stupid And funny!
Just a phenomenal performance. What a voice!
What a great suit too. Wow all around!!

Close but no banana - he was 36 days away from his 25th birthday here.
Had his own style and was sooooo cool. One if a kind singers. Love tom👍💕
