I mean to tell you guys the secret if you put the forward belt on the pulley edge that’s closest to the handlebars right in that groove and you just put the belt in place on the top spline from the crank & then you rotate the drive axle pulley fast & with force & you’ll get it on. Have the reverse belt out of your way for it & then put it on after. It’s easy because it’s already off tension when the reverse cable isn’t pulled.
I may be one of the lucky ones because. I had mine for 4 years and haven’t had to replace any belts yet I use it to till my vegetable plot every season. Mine has the kohler engine and the solid wheels.
For the damn fools here that are replacing their belt when it slips, read your manual and learn how to properly adjust the cable which controls belt tension. It's a matter of using 2 12mm wrenches to loosen a locknut and adjust the cable tension. Both cables can be adjusted for forward and backwards operation.
so i have this tiller and like the rest of the people here the belts break because the teeth catch on the retainer bars. I replaced them with this year with smooth V belts from NAPA the forward drive I use a Part number A24 dimensions are 1/2 by 26 inch (13 mm x 660 mm) around 9 bucks. I just route it on the bottom pulley then start it on the top pop it into place with a rubber mallet. you can find similar belts online for as low as 3 or 4 dollars. this belt is a bit tight and you may want to find a 13 mm x 670 mm wrapped belt, (for me not until this one goes) as this one has smoked a bit after using for a long period , and wont always disengage when hot, " BUT STILL WORKS", turn of the power and let machine cool. I saw some on a google search under 4 bucks. Haven't done the rear belt it's been gone for a couple years and have no dimensions. but at 4 dollars a pop I can experiment. the original belts are expensive and the tiller is not not designed well for them. removing the retaining rod might help as the belt is tight enough to not fall off. but these belts work so why bother. anyone with original belt dimensions please post
I just had to replace the reverse cable. Do you know where this attaches to the pulley? I understand the forward but I’m having trouble on reverse, thanks!
I'm not much of a mechanic , but I'd say the belt is too loose and spinning or the pulleys and such are frozen. try turning them manually with the engine off and see if they are stuck.maybe rusted up.
Wtf dude. You didn’t need to do any of that. I changed my belt in about 10 minutes using the company’s video on how to change a belt. LMFA. It is 1000 times easier than that whole mess you just went through.
Thank you so much!!! I have an extremely loose forward drive belt that needs replace and had no idea where to begin.
Thank you for your time it will save me a lot of time tomorrow.

Thanks Paddy for the advice. I did the same, and it works like a charm.
I just had to replace the reverse cable. Do you know where this attaches to the pulley? I understand the forward but I’m having trouble on reverse, thanks!
sorry, i dont know. i didnt have to change the reverse
Where did you get the belt? I need forward and reverse cables for mine also. Anybody know where I can order parts for it?
Amazon vbelt forward tiller model 29702
my belt never snapped , instead it stretched in one season, however I kept churning up rocks the size of bricks and stalling the engine.
Ebay has them.. or Google belt 22773
I just had to replace mine after four years but it went maybe three feet and the belt started smoking really bad, thoughts?

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!
Maybe I missed it, but what model Earthquake tiller is this?
make me a video and show me how!
my soil is full of rocks the size of bricks. this stalls and stretches the belts.
My engine exploded on mine so I'm considering putting a Harbor Freight motor on it but those belts look like a pain !@
you have to order the belts directly from earthquake.com dba ardisam

Wow..... I'll never buy another one of these again. I bought it brand new, used it twice and then the belt snapped. Total garbage.
Same, 1st one blew up after a few hours use lol
Yep, day 2, same thing, forward belt snapped... 😢
Mine goes through a belt every season. Worst tiller on the market.
I have a similar tiller, model 29409 and the broken belt is a HAIBANG 13X665. Can't find it anywhere on planet earth!! Curse d chinese made!
