While I wasn't expecting this to be as good as the first movie, it's does have it moments and some of Freddy's best one-liners. Excellent as always Dice!
Excellent review! The original Elm Street remains my favorite, but I love the incredibly queer overtones of this movie (Freddy reads more as internalized homophobia than a dream demon in this movie IMO), and I adore Clu Gulager in basically anything.
How does one write a whole-ass Blue Oyster Bar, that leather daddy gym teacher and towel ass whipping scene, then blame it on Mark Patton? Honestly, my favourite in the franchise, closely followed by 3 and 1 then it's all downhill after that.
I am very glad to know that I'm not the only one who appreciates this film. NOES is in fact my second favorite horror franchise after Scream. I was 17 when this film was released. And you hit the nail on the head how it was a hidden comfort and safe zone for the LGBTQ community. I identified with Jesse and in fact had a bit of crush on him.
Not as bad as people said decent sequel Freddy was scary I think the main problem is they brought Freddy out of dream and into real world and lots of supernatural things happen but no one is dreaming
Was the bird sleeping? Also, I personally don't think you can even consider it subtext when you come to the point where you are filming a scene in a bar full of leather daddies. At that point, it's just text.
While I wouldn't put this on my favourite sequels list. I do still think this is the best sequel to the franchise. Despite the corny moments I'd still say that this movie still made Freddy scary. Unlike the other sequels where he's treated more like a clown. Great review.
Yeah I don't think this is as bad as I remember it if anything yeah it is homo erotic but I also think it's hilarious like when Jessie always wakes in a cold sweat then has a delayed comical scream and although Freddy is evil and manacing he has the time of his life.

I've always loved Freddy's Revenge.
And Scream Queen is a fascinating documentary. I think you're right to mention that and the film in the same review.
Thank you, it only seemed right. It covers a lot more than I could attempt to fit into a single review anyway. xD

I’m with you on that. 😆

Fair, I've said before that this was essentially the last time Freddy was purely scary. Except for maybe in New Nightmare.
Thanks for throwing in the James Woods 'F This' line frome Scary Movie 2!
You’re welcome. Seemed fitting.
My favorite scene is when freddy rise some hell at the pool party. 😀👍
u r all my children now 😈

I agree with that in regards to Jesse and Grady.
