What an unbelievably appalling night that was. Hope the video goes some way to give you a sense of the story of the evening. Thanks for watching as always.
Firstly young man, credit to you, your four nil team and the rest of our fans for making the trip on a Wednesday night. That in itself is applaudable. SAFC fan here. Terrible night for your amazing travelling fans but I remember losing 1-5 at home to Stoke back in March 23 and then the next game we won 0-1 at Norwich. Very bad nights just happen now and then! Keep the faith
It’s a long season lads and very unforgiving. You gave us a good game (I’m a Claret) and your support is class. Keep believing and keep supporting your Team and you’ll be fine. 👍
Firstly well done Tom for completing the blog under such duress. We came away confused, in a state of disbelief and angry at what we’d just witnessed. Where do you start? There’s the old adage, “If you can’t win, Don’t get beat” So with this in mind where are there any remnants of anything resembling a settled side this season? Where’s the foundations? I'll be honest I'm a stoke fan, we went quiet about 70 mins in, I think we were all in shock 😂 and the fact we could relax and watch the game was something we're not used to😂
To many young players I know the investment for young player maybe good for the future but we need established ones for now. If pack gets injured what have we got. Great support great video tom.
I watched the game from my home in Canada and as a Pompey fan of 60 years +, who grew up 10 minutes from FP I was honestly sickened to my stomach from that display. I have seen some terrible, inept Pompey teams over the years but I have NEVER witnessed a cowardly display like that. If we had lost 6 . 1 and had 5 or 6 yellow cards to prove some fight as underdogs maybe, just maybe it would have helped, but the wretched snivelling, whipped dog performance should never be repeated. Many of those players really need to take a long hard look in a mirror and ask themselves if they really have the cajones to represent our fantastic supporter and club. We also need to address the recruitment of this bunch of lightweight - in body and soul - specimens. On reflection the club needed to acquire 5 or 6 hardened championship professionals. I wonder if promotion was an inconvenient over achievement for our owners who seem desperately reluctant to finance a realistic and sustainable platform for Pompey to establish themselves in this division.
Wake up Mr Eisner you have to spend serious money in this league to survive, players like Robertson and Kamara should not even be considered as expensive
Credit to pompy fans, great following mid week and noisy all game even after the 6th went in, im a stokie and pompy spme of the best fans down here for a while, good luck for the rest of the season lads 👊
Time to play Crystal Palace's 'bouncebackability' card from 2003/4 !! There's nothing we can do about the past 8 games, so let's put it behind us and focus on the 38 games left to play - there are still 114 points still up for grabs !! PUP !!!
I feel your pain. We lost 4-0 and 6-1 there last season. You are a credit to your club and one of the best footie channels on You Tube. It will get better.
Whilst the defeat did not surprise me, its scale and manner did!!!! What a shame this performance removed the smile from your face after Bournemouth's good performance on Sunday! Yes, I have a soft spot for Bournemouth!!!
No excuses from me - we were dreadful. Embarrassing. I've seen some shite over the years; but that's one of the worst performances I've ever seen from my team. I love this club, but that's beyond unacceptable. Heads should roll!
I cant believe that your mindset is, " we are now on a run of games where we can start picking up some wins". Particularly when the majority of those games are against seasonsond championship clubs. I think thats also your players problem. if your not a Burnley or Leeds or a Sheff Utd, "the commitment doesnt need to be as intense,". thats what I saw last night watching your game. The so called lesser deemed championship clubs will be licking their lips faced with such arrogance.
Thanks for the video Tom. I have watched some turgid Pompey performances since my first game in 1976, but that was up there with the worst of them last night. One of the (many) things that gripes me is the constant back to Norris from throw ins in the opposition half, within two touches we've gone from almost the edge of the opponents box to Norris, for him to leather it up the park and give it to them; we might as well just give them the throw in. Lane and Blair looked out of it, Blair needs to toughen up and get stuck in, take players on (Murphy was the one bright spark last night), Lane just looks a bit lost and is not reading the ball well enough. A couple of times we were making runs - O'Mahoney and Murphy - expecting to receive the ball from deep but the ball never came, it was again passed around the back four; we seem scared to go direct unless Norris is hoofing it. Some changes and a major reaction needed Saturday.
You called it, right up there with Orient. Possibly the Barker era, but at least we knew he was on borrowed time...which is not what the majority want here. The reaction on Saturday is massive to see
I thought hmmm after the Sunderland result, but this seals it. Eiseners trying to run Pompey on a shoestring, you can't do that in the Championship. Would be such a pity to get immediately relegated. Good that we found out now. I don't blame the manager. You saw what the players were doing, or not doing. So let's get a grip. Plenty of games to go.
Bless all the great fans that went to Stoke for a mid week game......but that was about it Tom ! We looked so out of our depth, so little belief, complete rabbits in the headlights. For a couple of minutes after our goal we seemed to play a little better, or was it Stoke who were shocked ?! As you said, from rock bottom you either stay on the canvas, or get up and prove yourself. PUP
Morning lads shame the team did not turn up like the fans did you did us proud the blue army just hope we can start to get it to work and get some points play up pompey keep the faith
Tremendous support from Portsmouth fans last night. Travelling up to our shit-hole & back 😆. Very very impressed. You lot kept singing throughout the game ...with your own little light show at the end, with the mobile phones. I sincerely hope you stay up, Portsmouth have always had great passionate fans, the opposite to Southampton 😄 Last time we won 6-1 at home was Gerrards last game with Liverpool. Good luck for the rest of the season
Thanks for making the video Tom & Co - I think all your subscribers would have understood if you hadn't bothered. All Pompey fans can recall some shocking performances and low points, but last night had the extra element of being humiliating.
I did fear this , we've got good league one players and some talented youngsters from bigger clubs with not much league experience but it's a big step up and we aren't able to keep concentration and energy . Conceeding early and just before intervals shows that . To be honest I've seen some awful games over the years and I'm glad it was only the radio . Credit to the fans , they were all you could hear .
My thoughts exactly, but what about all those injuries. " Freak" injuries seem to be coming the norm, no one near them. Team mates clobbering each other. Buying expensive players like Poole, a couple of games , out for rest of season. Add McIntyre ditto. Bowat injures himself in training, kicking a football, well what would you expect doing a silly thing like that! Out for the season for a 500k signing. We've got some class players, --- sorry typing error, I meant Glass players. Stop warmups before matches as they cause injuries. I could go on but these comments aside, as a lifelong Pompey fan, I hope they can get their act together and stay in the Championship. PUP.
Horrible to watch last night. Completely agree with everything you say . Three of those goals started with us being in Stokes half, we decided to either throw it or pass it back & we’ve been caught out. We aren’t good enough to play like this , we need more up front & we must go forward more ,I’m fed up with seeing a different 11 every game it’s so frustrating. We are always set up not too loose rather than win a game . Also why take so long to make changes , just do it FFS . Saturday we need a performance & a result, no excuses.
I wasn’t at the game last night as I was out and about in Portsmouth. I saw a TV screen that showed Stoke had scored and that the goal scorer was T. Cannon. Later in the evening when I saw the final score, I thought the other 5 goal scorers would have been B. Ball, R. Barker, R. Corbett, E. Morecombe and E. Wise. Keep the faith people. It was just one dreadful game. Only one direction to go from this. PUP. 😀
Great support as ever, a credit to the club but performance wise, SHOCKING! These are the games now we need to be taking points from, and to be embarrassed 6-1 at STOKE, is not what we needed going forward. I said it start of the season mousinho will be found out for lack of experience this season and it is looking like this could be the case. Winning league 1 in style is 1 thing but the championship takes no prisoners and if we not careful this season is gonna be a horrible relegation battle
I've never had much time for the Eisners. I certainly don't give them any credit for winning promotion. I doubt they really care what league Pompey are in. They should be asking themselves: how can a small club like Bournemouth - for almost their entire history a division or more below Pompey - now be a (more or less) established EPL club and streets ahead of Pompey?
After two good performances against Burnley and Sheffield United, somehow Mousinho and the players seemed totally unprepared for Stoke. The game on Saturday against Oxford is almost a must-win now.
I feel we are really missing Joe morell in midfield. His tenacity and enthusiasm. Yes he has got sent off a few times but he is so passionate and a better midfield player than the ones we signed in the summer
That was supposed to be our first "easier" game...but we've been due a thrashing this season after picking up some draws on the road, despite being played off the park. Every player was terrible last night. Beyond Murphy, Pack, Poole, Shaughnessy and maybe Potts, we don't have players that are Championship standard. Mousinho is culpable for the thrashing last night by not substituting Norris immediately after the first goal and others at HT. When Norris lets a soft goal in early, he always goes on to be a disaster the rest of the game.
My Dad said to me earlier, it was perhaps the kind of scoreline we could've been on the receiving end of at Leeds on the opening day. Putting it right Saturday is the biggest imperative in years. Thanks for watching.
You should never ever write off Stoke on their own patch. Stoke can be as good as any team in this league, they can also be as bad too! Stoke have very very good players. They lack consistency.
The squad just isn't good enough for the championship. I was worried before the season started and I'm even more worried now. We look lightweight and clumsy all over the pitch, the defence is leaking like a sieve and we don't carry much threat going forward. That's not a good combination. A result like that has been coming all season. We've been very lucky at times, but tonight our luck ran out big time. Stoke away in midweek is a tough game and I think the players were complacent, believing this would be an easy game after playing all the promotion contenders already. Hopefully this will be a wake up call. There are no easy games in the championship and we should approach them all knowing we are the underdogs trying to establish ourselves in a league that is vastly superior to league 1. That should be our mindset. Maybe they will finally understand that after this drubbing. I just hope we can do some good business in January because if we don't bring in some experienced championship players we are likely to be relegated on what I've seen so far this season.
Hello Tom like as your good self I'm Pompey 100% but I'm 65 years of age and seen many disappointments over the years. But impo yes it's still early but we will get relagated the nucleus of players brought in are not proven at this level. Again impo playing league 1 players from last season is a risk at this level its a different kettle of fish the championship as we have seen unfortunately anyone can see were miles of the pace. John Mousinho is looking a worried coach you can see it in his body language after match interviews Colby Bishops return hopefully soon but can he make a difference i hope so but he's not proven at this level oxford Saturday!!
We should of had something from that game off the back of the Sheffield U game just assume the players didn't fancy a wednesday evening is Stoke! Shocking!
Those players are not fit to wear the shirt of our famous old club. There was zero fight in them and a complete lack of pride. Norris has to be dropped for Saturday. How can we go from an excellent defensive display against Sheffield Utd to this debacle? Not forgetting what we achieved last season
Well Tom, where do we start could have been 1-0 down in the 1st minute if it wasn’t for the cross bar, it really set the tone for the match! I think we are lucky that it wasn’t 8-1, I wouldn’t be surprised if Norris has back ache after picking the ball out of the net so many times! So many players didn’t turn up & I don’t believe that John Mousinho should be apologising to the fans but all the players should be as they are the individuals who wear the shirt. Alan Ball famously said people went to war for this city well it felt like we turned up with a water pistol & a few water bombs!
People forget, Mousinho performed an absolute miracle to win the league last year. We were always going to be fighting relegation, especially with no Bishop. That performance was disgraceful (I turned off at half time) but the unrealistic expectations of our supporters is utterly embarrassing.
I feel flabbergasted. I have spent 4 hours at work chatting with my best friend all about it. He is a plymouth fan so knows all about crap games. He couldn't believe that portsmouth would be worse to watch that plymouths opening game but sadly it was terrible. My experience was getting home late and I turned all notifications off as I wanted to the watch the game on sky from the beginning, but ad the screen loaded with its low resolution I peak the stoke score to see it look like an 8......I was like if stoke got 8 how many did we get and once it loaded it cleared up to 6-1.....I just slumped in the chair went to face book and saw 100s of pompy fans kicking off. What a sad night indeed. We have to turn this around asap and those lads have to seriously sort out any background or changing room drama. It seems like they don't gel that well on the pitch, even like they ain't friends....which seems to cause alot of frustration and mis communication. If I was JM I would get the lads spending time to sort there differences out. ( I could be wrong but it seems they are distant or winding each other up). I could go on but when you hit the lows of that you got to turn it around. Maybe we can get a win against Oxford but I feel they are looking at us and don't feel worried. Let's hope the lads can put on a performance worth of the hard work they did to gwt in this leauge. To cheer you up tom I bought a subscription as I did promise you a beer last week. 🎉 😂 Take care 😊
I went to this game and enjoyed my team winning 6-1. I have just come all the way from Australia to see my team Stoke! In fairness Pompey were second class all night and were not up to it. I fear they may not be good enough for the Championship.
I’m hoping it’s a bad night, we have looks surprisingly convincing against all the big sides we have played so far, this has been the only performance that has had me super worried.
Hi there Tom. Firstly, I must say massive well done to you and Andrew and all the fans that made the journey up to the game on a fairly cold Wednesday night and kept singing till the end. You guys did us proud. It's a pity the team didn't seem to turn up too against Stoke last night. I have to be honest and say that was the worst performance I have seen from us so far this season. After going behind I thought we responded well to get back into it considering the pressure they piled on us in the first 15-20 minutes of the game. But from the moment we conceded again we just seemed to fall apart completely. Absolute capitulation. At the back defensively we were abysmal and it's just baffling how we can go from a very good draw and a clean sheet last Saturday to a poor performance like that. We need to see a massive response from the lads now against Oxford because that simply wasn't good enough. I just think at the moment we're not quite good enough at this level and changes need to be made in January to bolster the team. I just hope we don't find ourselves too far behind the rest of the pack by then. I think you hit the nail on the head Tom when you said you can either fight or stay down on the canvas. Well we need to see a massive fight from the lads against Oxford don't we? They owe it to us. It is what it is I guess, but as you always say Tom let's keep the faith. Win or lose, play up Pompey.
We're down and out at this rate. We've absolutely imploded at Stoke with an embarrassing and absolutely dreadful performance. Need a response against Oxford on Saturday otherwise we're in deep trouble. Only positive was O'Mahony's goal and that's it. Need to do tons better than this, PUP. 😡🔹️🔷️🔵💙 #Pompey
I feel this is a good snap shot of what being in the championship with a league 1 budget, I think we have over performed and opponents under performed in previous games, we need some more championship quality in the first team, the youngsters are for the next couple of years not now.
I really look forward to your videos, but this morning I watched through squinted eyes and gritted teeth. I dont know where to begin. I just hope we pull something out of the bag Saturday or all the positivity and good will from last year will instantly dry up.
YES, could hear the chants all the way through BUT embarrassing. SO MUCH for "we will pick up points against mid table teams." I called it. Its all about selecting right starters for particular games, not "rotation". One example, I could not believe the Mouse didnt have Saydee on from start to play destroyer in midfield. (ask Andrew about Tate) PLUS kept saying we have to drop the two would keep losing ball and giving free kicks away. Its obvious who they are, and its not Ogs. AND please, NO MORE "PLAYING" FROM THE BACK, Dorking can do that, we cant.
It was embarrassing and I feel for al that travelled but hopefully that’s just a serious blip and we pull it back at Oxford. Keep heads up we could all be feeling different by the end of the month. PUP
I'm a Stoke fan and didn't see that coming,we have been really poor just lately, good luck to you for the rest of the season apart from when we play you next
Need a huge response on Saturday. That was utterly appalling. In a decent position following that fixture start but the points will have to start coming and fast.
First time we’ve conceded 6 goals since we lost to Manchester City 6-0 in the premier league back in 2008. Starting to get a little bit worried now. I think we’re in for a long season.
Absolutely gutted. Every positive from the opening 7 games now feels redundant. The biggest of responses required on Saturday otherwise this could get away from us very, very quickly. Let's see how the team reacts as that's one thing we have never said Mous' Blues can't do, with aplomb. Fantastic video nonetheless mate, onto Saturday. PUP 💙
My friend was texting me from the ground, because the game was 8PM MIDWEEK WHICH IS STUPID. Pompey Vs Stoke will also be 8pm midweek. I'm so sick of the EFL
I fractured my elbow recently, that last night was far more painful. Will Norris has come in for a lot of stick, every game he sends the ball straight out at least twice, but I don't think we should drop him. Was it overconfidence? We've played the tough teams and we've just got to show up against Stoke to get 3 points? The majority of fans were expectant... We've got to battle for every point, and one thing this island city does well is battle. Keep the faith, up the blues and buenas tardes!! 🇪🇸 And great work as always everyone involved with the fournil team
Absolutely awful, dross. The hell was that? Started so well against some very tough teams, then come to Stoke and undo it all by shitting the bed. No effort, can't string a pass together, no fight, leaving spaces all over the park and the midfield going for a wander. Never a pen though, the guy slides into Norris. I think your 'what?' summed it up well. Speaking of Norris, he seems to go from making great saves to keep us in games to putting in dire performances, lost the consistency we saw from him last season. I'd get Schmid in for Oxford just to see how he does.
Stoke fans atmosphere was almost embarrassing as our performance, back home on Saturday we expect big changes, Norris out, ogilvi out, midfield looked disgusting
Respect to everyone who travelled and witnessed that! Absolute disgraceful performance. Players need to take a look at themselves most of them are out of their depth in this league. Changes need to be made. Play up Pompey. Ps fantastic videos guys keep up the good work 🙏🏻
I know how you feel, we had that feeling at Home Park for most of last season, I am hoping that this season will be more relaxing! Pity it was against a team that Schumacher put together!
What an unbelievably appalling night that was. Hope the video goes some way to give you a sense of the story of the evening. Thanks for watching as always.
You done well to keep filming ! It's a shame your team can't be nowhere near as good as your supporters ! Hopefully you guys turn things around.

Oxford and Derby invested wisely in the summer whereas we seemed to have made ourselves weaker and shopped in Temu for new players

Great fan vod mate, you guys were brilliant in the stands, good luck for the season. Up the Potters.
Respect again to our support. Should have invested it's a big step up. I hope that the players learn something Thanks Tom and friends. PUP
Credit to the fans last night. In a library of a stadium and 6-1 down, they did the team and city proud.
Library? It was pretty loud where I was sitting.

PUP !!!
Need to drop Norris against Oxford absolute nightmare between the sticks!!!
100%
I feel your pain. We lost 4-0 and 6-1 there last season. You are a credit to your club and one of the best footie channels on You Tube. It will get better.
Whilst the defeat did not surprise me, its scale and manner did!!!! What a shame this performance removed the smile from your face after Bournemouth's good performance on Sunday! Yes, I have a soft spot for Bournemouth!!!
Don't think we'll be doing an Ipswich this season!
No excuses from me - we were dreadful. Embarrassing. I've seen some shite over the years; but that's one of the worst performances I've ever seen from my team. I love this club, but that's beyond unacceptable. Heads should roll!
Never mind alarm bells ringing !! Everytime I think of pompy it's that bloody bloke in the away end ringing his bell !!!!! 🔔 😂
You’ve done well there mate under those embarrassing circumstances
The ref pointed the other way for a free kick then gave the penalty, madness
Great Vlog!🙌🏻
Tremendous support from Portsmouth fans last night. Travelling up to our shit-hole & back 😆. Very very impressed. You lot kept singing throughout the game ...with your own little light show at the end, with the mobile phones. I sincerely hope you stay up, Portsmouth have always had great passionate fans, the opposite to Southampton 😄 Last time we won 6-1 at home was Gerrards last game with Liverpool. Good luck for the rest of the season
Brilliant support mate. but stoke let you off the last half hour
Thanks for making the video Tom & Co - I think all your subscribers would have understood if you hadn't bothered. All Pompey fans can recall some shocking performances and low points, but last night had the extra element of being humiliating.
6-1, nobody saw that coming 😂
PUP.
That must have been a tough watch for you pompey fans. Fair play to you though. You came in numbers and sang ya hearts out 👍🏽
Come on you potters ❤️🤍
Horrible to watch last night.
Completely agree with everything you say .
Three of those goals started with us being in Stokes half, we decided to either throw it or pass it back & we’ve been caught out.
We aren’t good enough to play like this , we need more up front &
we must go forward more ,I’m fed up with seeing a different 11 every game it’s so frustrating.
We are always set up not too loose rather than win a game .
Also why take so long to make changes , just do it FFS .
Saturday we need a performance & a result, no excuses.
Cheap option players have made us the whipping boys of the league. I’d be surprised if we win a game this season
Great Support from you Tom but as Champions last year cannot believe your start
If we lose Saturday, then I think some certain boos will start appearing
Gallows humour, didn’t think I would hear it in the first week of October, great video Tom, PUP.....Saturday Oxford must win
Thanks for watching as always
Going back to league one yous 😂😂
Cannon and Stoke midfield pressed well, we played the ball backwards, gave silly free kicks and they were too strong for us.
I felt that embarrassment Tom and I was watching from home. It was shameful. Really hope Eisners pay attention to this.
@@carnalea2424 i’ve always been for the Eisners, but this is certainly a deciding moment.
Well that was unexpected…. No idea what happened. Oxford is a massive game Saturday. Need to bounce back. Fans a credit to the club again 👏
Thanks Tom, tell it how it is, always. PUP
The players and management should be forced to watch this video.
Great vlog tom and this was not easy for u all I believe u will be alright
Great Vlog and I hope things pick up for Pompey.
We should of had something from that game off the back of the Sheffield U game just assume the players didn't fancy a wednesday evening is Stoke! Shocking!
West Brom fan here. We've just lost two games playing like Pompey did at Stoke and it's terrible stuff. Really hope you get a result against Oxford
It’s going to be a long season for you, with the support by Pompey fans the players need to up their game
Take care 😊
Well done Potters
Rule of the championship, there are no easier games.
#Pompey
I feel this is a good snap shot of what being in the championship with a league 1 budget, I think we have over performed and opponents under performed in previous games, we need some more championship quality in the first team, the youngsters are for the next couple of years not now.
Misery loves company. Didn't see that performance coming. WTF was that?!!
Derby are giving the ball away in midfield turnovers too which is costing us in away games. I'm wondering if it's a learning curve?
It was embarrassing and I feel for al that travelled but hopefully that’s just a serious blip and we pull it back at Oxford. Keep heads up we could all be feeling different by the end of the month. PUP
It has to be a blip!
No commitment at all
I'm a Stoke fan and didn't see that coming,we have been really poor just lately, good luck to you for the rest of the season apart from when we play you next
It’s a tough league can’t believe Ipswich got out of it every game is hard not easy game in this league coybs from Ipswich fan
Need a huge response on Saturday. That was utterly appalling. In a decent position following that fixture start but the points will have to start coming and fast.
Good vlog, Still following, Burnley fan 👍
We played and had a disastrous game. But i dont se doom and gloom just yet. We must move on and i still think we mill make it in the end
It's like watching a Greek tragedy.
First time we’ve conceded 6 goals since we lost to Manchester City 6-0 in the premier league back in 2008.
Starting to get a little bit worried now. I think we’re in for a long season.
Feel for you guys PUP
Absolutely gutted. Every positive from the opening 7 games now feels redundant. The biggest of responses required on Saturday otherwise this could get away from us very, very quickly. Let's see how the team reacts as that's one thing we have never said Mous' Blues can't do, with aplomb. Fantastic video nonetheless mate, onto Saturday. PUP 💙
My friend was texting me from the ground, because the game was 8PM MIDWEEK WHICH IS STUPID. Pompey Vs Stoke will also be 8pm midweek. I'm so sick of the EFL
Gutted Tom but this was still an excellent video. I love your coverage from the stands.
Glad you enjoyed it Becky
I fractured my elbow recently, that last night was far more painful. Will Norris has come in for a lot of stick, every game he sends the ball straight out at least twice, but I don't think we should drop him. Was it overconfidence? We've played the tough teams and we've just got to show up against Stoke to get 3 points? The majority of fans were expectant... We've got to battle for every point, and one thing this island city does well is battle. Keep the faith, up the blues and buenas tardes!! 🇪🇸
And great work as always everyone involved with the fournil team
Get well soon Gary!
Did we have a midfield?
Respect to everyone who travelled and witnessed that! Absolute disgraceful performance. Players need to take a look at themselves most of them are out of their depth in this league. Changes need to be made. Play up Pompey. Ps fantastic videos guys keep up the good work 🙏🏻
Thanks very much for watching
SHAMBOLICK 😮
I know how you feel, we had that feeling at Home Park for most of last season, I am hoping that this season will be more relaxing! Pity it was against a team that Schumacher put together!
