The mention of the wolf's stomach as a portal called to mind for me the phrase, "in the belly of the beast" = an intense place, the epicenter of whatever lurid or chaotic events are happening. I'd say there's a certain chaos that happens in the process of transformation for sure! The wolf is almost a crucible too from this perspective.
The sexual violence angle was another I'll agree on. I found this podcast while expanding on others' interpretations after rereading the fairy tale yesterday evening and also had come to a feeling of something sexual or at least unseemly taking place between the wolf and Red. I appreciated the mention of personal accountability and empowerment in keeping ourselves safe, because it is very true that regadless of how much we attempt to educate the world, there will always be people who operate outside the greater good, and the conversation is worth having.
Enjoyed your podcast very much---thank you!
