- Given that Virgil was recording the audio to later synch with this video on his laptop, he was concerned that it wasn't recording! Therefore, his preoccupation at the begining of this clip. (It was the first song of the show).

Australian drummer extraordinaire Virgil Donati with his bandmates André Nieri on guitar and Júnior Braguinha on Bass performing another seething odd time feast of Virgil's record "In this Life" at the Dresdner Drumfestival September 2016.
directed/filmed/edited by Philipp Koch
recorded/mixed by Virgil Donati
I'am stunned by the fact that Virgil is 60 and that his level of tecnicity speed and power is far from going down inspite of his age. This bro is killin even harder than 20 years ago... he just sounds so dam clear and perfect... Utter RESPECT for this living legend!
Out of this world, as simple as that. Those guy´s artistry is beyond any limit.
What a genial master on the drums!
... proprio geniale, vero?
I think his drum/cymbal sound is the best I’ve ever heard. His entire career
0:38 playing drums and surfing the internet at the same time
LOL... There is some DAW on the screen though. :)
lol!! his mind is like in 5 diffrent places at once
😂😂😂
Great study. Drumme tops other guys by miles.
Having the balls to forget the time-space reality of the human form.
Traveling through seconds of time.
👍👍👍 ... there, that's to compensate for the 3 people that accidental disliked this video!
6:43 Sweeps from ride to floor Tom to snare...
All I can say is HOLY SHIT
Neues von Virgil und Band , ein Fest für meine Ohren .
This is amazing.
simply incredible
No need to play to a click track when you've got Virgil on stage.
Kingdom of Dreams remix? It’s a Planet X song.
fantastic
...ganz krass !
Γεια σου ρε Ντονάτι μαθηματικέ!!!Σούπερ παίξιμο!!
He changed the groove of the main riff from the original it sounds awesome and weird!
La cancion se llama kingdom of dreams de planet x
wooow just wow
For me, though I am a massive fan of the In This Life cd, this track compositionally, not so much. I'm always inspired by you Virg.
The album version with Planet X is better than this version. There are too many variations and change-ups in this live version to retain its direction. The album version made sense, but this one is chaotic.
Solid + Superbly = Dinamically
Great work. What a band. Andre Nieri blows my mind. I’d love to see a chart to this song.
I totally love when the solos kick in and Virgil goes crazy to that catchy fusion loop
wow
in what rhythmic size is this composition written? I do not understand if there is a rhythmic connection of the main theme with the section of solo drums (and with the transition part in 6/8)
Pouahhhh !!! SUPER
I feel upset when I hear 200 people applaud after Virgil's unbelievable performance. He deserves auditory of thousands of people . But nowadays these thousands listen to garbage...
Ilya Konrad people don’t want to LISTEN to music. They want music to ACCOMPANY them while they do something else. At least that’s what I’m seeing.
Yes, but what I meant is that primitive or even garbage music gathers tens of thousands of people at the stadiums, and the REAL music isn't that popular. And then I hear 200 or less guys that have brains are clapping to Virgil's performance, and then I see story from Instargram about Imagine Dragons performance at the staduim in Ukraine... It's a shame.
Ilya Konrad yep. 100% agreed with that frustration.
Those with minds that are easily consumed consume easily consumed 'music'. At this stage, calling the bestial noise the public consume music is stretching credulity somewhat.
How the fuck they count that
wheres the song what is this ?
you can clearly tell andre have little time preparing the song, he is way better than that
Indonesian musicians prefer akira jimbo as a drummer compared to you
I watched Akira played live in Thailand video, i was disappointed. He's exposed not as good as he was in his instructional video vs in live situation. Please don't compare him to Virgil
@Bubbasauresrex Exactly. And yes, Trilok is amazing. Indian classical percussion is just a whole other tradition. It gives them an unfair advantage ; )
