That avocado you eat, killed animals too and ruined their habitat. If you really want to save animals, just don't give birth at all and let's leave the planet to animals, because there's no other way that humans can eat without killing. But I guess cognitive dissonance has made you believe you're doing something about this problem and you are morally right and better than everyone else.

      @@vegan.enlightenment I recently told my mum that I find it interesting how some people want to try & reduce ALL unnecessary harm (though I agree to focus on human-caused harm first)- example: lions apparently don't see a reason to kill their prey if they don't struggle so sometimes they eat baby elephants alive. My mum responded to that being like "Could we please stop with such a cruel topic" & I just saw a chance there & said "You're eating a dead animal too right now"- & she knows that humans don't have to eat animals so I'm hoping it did something somewhere. Who knows, maybe something like this might work in your case? I've found that the more clear & self-confident I am the more people might actually listen. Just imagine someone defending themselves or stepping up for someone all shy & tripping over their words (me in the past) vs just clearly voicing basic facts (what Ed does as well). A couple years and a few months ago, I went flexi plant-based (I don't think flexi-vegan is a thing) for the environment (this after being vegetarian for about 3 years). I already was thinking about the animals, but didn't make the full connection and didn't know about what is really behind of all the animal industries. I only had maybe one cookie with butter or milk once a month, a small treat when I went out because there are no vegan sweet options in any cafeteria of my city. It was hard to resist because I've always had a sweet tooth and very strong sugary cravings.
    But a few months later, I started to binge-watch your videos, your public talks, I watched Dominion and other documentaries. And after a few hours of crying watching those, I went full vegan, and haven't had a single animal product in two years, and never coming back. I just cannot get myself into even think of consuming those products anymore.
    Now, I don't have those strong cravings, but I learned to veganize many desserts so I could get my treats but without harming animals in the process. I cook more variety than ever.
    I want to thank you for all your work, Ed. I'm sure the futur either will be vegan, or we won't have any future, and if we do have it, you will be one of the people that helped the change. Thank you.

    👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 *Thank you for being one of the rational vegans who understands that pointing out the VERY important point that it's UNNECESSARY for most humans to consume animal products to be healthy.*
    There's a small faction of not very critical thinking vegans who apparently thinks it's a terrible mistake to do this.
    2:30
    The reason that there's ZERO hypocrisy in calling the act of someone sexually gratifying them self by penetrating a cow without consent "pervy" and not calling the practice of inseminating a cow for the purpose of breeding for profit "pervy" is because there are 2 totally different intentions involved. It's NOT at all difficult for a reasonable person to understand this.
    Understanding, identifying, and labeling intentions correctly is much more often than not, very important.
    Whether the outcome is the same is irrelevant here. It would ONLY be relevant if you're referring to outcomes. But by focusing on the "pervy" part, you're doing just the opposite of focusing on the outcome
    *Additionally, it's also a terrible tactic (because it's not sensible) to label insemination for profit "rape" since "rape" has a very specific context that apparently entails motivations that are "sexual".*
    If any non consensual penetrating of an anus was a form of "rape" then it would be absolutely required to label as "rape" any life saving effort made by someone (let's say an emergency room doctor) were they to remove a dangerous object from someone who was found unconscious and found with an object that was potentially dangerous to them, in their rectum.
    That's how we know that "rape" is not a sensible word to use for describing artificial insemination of cows REGARDLESS is someone in the dairy industry or some shouting vegan refers to that artificial insemination as "rape".
    We need to do better as advocates than to use such sloppy framing and language.

      Rape does not have to be sexually motivated. It's probably in most cases but would you not call someone having sexual intercourse without consent to get them pregnant rape? Or what about violating someone's sensitive parts to hurt or humiliate them? Or what about "challenges" where the abusers only want to prove themselves & feel good among their social environment? What matters is the victim's experience. Not even consensual interaction of that kind is always sexually motivated.

    • @KanashiAtisuto

      Normatively, yes, it is about sexuality.
      I wouldn't label trying to impregnate some one without consent as rape, unless there's a sexual component to it.
      That doesn't mean that that forcing isn't bad or even reprehensible ......... it's just that I don't find a good enough reason to call it rape.
      The method doesn't determine the rape part, it's the intent that does. As for intercourse where the male is penetrating, normatively this happens only when there's sexual arousal first. I'm not aware of any example where an erection prior to intercourse happens without some sort of sexual arousal.

    It's a very simple fact of people generally agreeing that the subjective benefit of animal products far outweighs the negative consequences of the animals suffering. We generally don't agree that sexual arousal is worth forcing a hand into a cow, so naturally we will not find it a good justification. You can do the same exercise with anaything. You don't think it's moral to kill others for sexual arousal? Then how is it moral to kill for self-defense? It's merely because we share the same values with the latter justification and not the former. Just because we dislike certain consequences of our actions does not mean there isn't a goal we perceive as worthy enough to endure those disliked consequences and allow them as a means to an end. Hope this helps!

    • @erin-eh2sl
      @erin-eh2sl Год назад +4

      i see what you mean, some people think that because we get sustenance from eating animals and their excretions, we are justified in torturing and killing them. but the torture and death of the animals is needless when one can get all the nutrition they need from vegan food

    • @MarkoMood
      @MarkoMood Год назад

      @@erin-eh2sl I'm not necessarily referring to those people. What people generally highly value about animal products is the convenience they offer. Since most people agree on this, the action of purchasing animal products does not receive the same label of "immoral" as killing for sexual pleasure would receive, sinice we generally don't agree this kind of pleasure is worth the suffering. So no one reason to harm is moral or immoral on its own, it's dependant on how much we collectively value it compared to the suffering it takes. "Necessity", or the pleasure for staying alive, is just one pleasure out of many others that can be valued more than the suffering of another.

    • @stt7598
      @stt7598 Год назад

      The reason for vegan advocacy (including this video) is actually to change the current situation of "people generally agreeing that the subjective benefit of animal products far outweighs the negative consequences of the animals suffering", because this "agreement" is only based on cultural habits, which do often not dictate what is moral or not (counter examples: slavery, women rights, homosexuality) and it is obvious that culture cannot morally justify harming and killing animals for unnecessary reasons.
