- If you found out that everyone in your town were bloodthirsty vampires what would you do? Almost everyone you know is an undead monster out for blood, and NO ONE is coming to save you. I'm going to break down the mistakes made, what you should do, and how to beat the VAMPIRES in Shiki.

This one kinda rubbed me wrong. The shikis act all “it’s not our fault, we just want to live!” Yet instead of even trying co-existence, they literally destroy a whole community.
They should establish their own “village”. Then only except those willing to join. Maybe setup a blood bank or something along those lines so no random feedings or turnings. To make it work is to easy, it’s just peoples natures that will end up making it not work.
These are village people, they would murder them regardless tbh.
And realistically Old dude and that gang of dudes probably would have done a little more than kill those women. They’d use them being different to justify the absolute worst. I mean look how doctor did his wife.

Even if you're worried about over-reactions and government attacks, you could try and establish deals with blood bank people, just find people that are kinky like that, lots of ways that dont involve killing/converting everyone in an entire town
And mass converting people is the worst way to keep things calm, since that's going to exponentially increase the need for blood
@@kharnthebetrayer8251 I understand that but word will get out and the government will take, test and kill you. The same people you may try befriend may demand you turn them, thus starting a cycle. And they are centuries old, chances are they’ve tried it already.

@@YourKingJDG yeah I’m not a big fan of humanity either but the writer seemed to want the audience to sympathize with the Shiki, but if that was the case maybe not make it so that they “invade” an established community and then act all persecuted when the shit hits the fan. Seems intellectually disingenuous as they are so long lived it doesn’t make sense they haven’t figured out to keep from spreading the sickness to randos.
Honestly, on Shiki side, coexisting was the only option. If Sunako just tried diplomacy, she could've gotten agreement with the doctor to receive some donor blood, and have other humans donate it once in a while. We've seen an old lady Shiki survive on just a cup a day for a long time. If they're a wealthy family, they could just pay for it. After she killed some humans, especially children, she pissed off humans and increased the number of mouths to feed. Not to mention, she waged war against humanity as a whole, which would end in either eradication of vampires or humans. And eradicating humans means no blood for them. She had the dumbest plan with the whole vampire village thing, leading to so many people dying for no reason, and that makes the ending extremely annoying, even though the rest of the anime was great.

The vampires relied far too much on the strength of the day walker. History has shown again and again how scary humans are, the vampires should be very aware of it. We are impossibly adept at killing and enslaving creatures far stronger than us. They thought this shitty little village would be an easy target, ignored every law of monsters in fiction and got destroyed.
Why the hell would any one want to donete blood to feed a f.. king vampires specialy when it thas not benefit them i know i would not that is a horrible and dangerous idea in a long run like feeding willed bears they get to comfort able and relient on humans to feed them and they will basicaly become parasites on humanity what is needed is to find a alternet sorce of good for them one that thas not any thing to do with humans
Probably the best moment of this anime is when Megumi (pink haired girl) is when she's lying on the ground crying out for help only to have her head crushed by a tractor backing up.
Tractor Kun sent her to another anime only to be hit by truck Kun and turned her to a zombie.

I really find it difficult to process how the Shiki's are claiming they only want to survive, but unnecessarily kills and turns villagers in to vampires? In my opinion, I think they're planning to create a set up similar to "Daybreakers" where there are less humans and vampires are harvesting them... and THAT'S not survival... that's domination!

But homey they wanted to murder everyone and planned on killing and replacing nonstop. They never made a attempt to coexist or anything.

I really hate that little girl survived and remember she's behind this operation. I was hoping for Kunihiro or Nao to survive but dang their death is so unjustifiable. Most the staked shikis deserved this because they are glutinous. There's a scene where shiki can survive with 1 cup of blood and yet they wanted more.

I still remember when the town's people got fed up, found out what was going on, and took action. The humans started fighting back. OMG, how the tables turned at that point. XD
It was interesting seeing the horror flipped on its head, and the monsters being terrified instead.

In simple terms what I meant is that these shiki doesn't care shet about the humans feeling and what they would become or would they be the same if they become shiki or they wouldn't use the method to ensure the remain the same if they have said option.

They actually couldn't flee. The shiki had controlled all authorities and blocked any attempt at an escape. Trying to high tail out of town is actually the quickest way to get caught.

I can understand that the Shiki are tired of running and hiding, but they could’ve done shit way smarter. Here are some ideas of what they could’ve tried:
• Buying acres of land where they can build their own village
• Build a village in secret in a more remote area near mountains
• Buy an island and build a town there (assuming they’re able to cross water in this variation)
They clearly had sympathizers that could’ve gone with them as blood donors and had some doctor shiki run a hospital so they have access to blood bags (if they don’t go with option 2). They could’ve also tried the Twilight route and tried drinking animal blood. It would’ve been way better though if they didn’t convert any or at least as many as they did if they didn’t want to get caught.
In the Dance in The Vampire Bund that’s exactly what Mina did.
One point of fact we never see them drinking animal blood, it must be human
The problem is that the girl leading them didn't want to co-exist. She's literally someone that wants to watch the world burn, and the blue haired guy seemed pretty devoted to her. He probably killed off the ones that did step out of line.

Problem i see is no amont of done blood is enough to feed a population of vampires they would need a lot and wey to often they would become parasite and a cancer on humanity and ewery one they bite and thas not die would become a noter Shiki or Jinro wich meens more mouts to feed they would spreed like a plague

Honestly the entire thing with how Seichin acted was just pure annoying,yes they're trying to live like us as well but at the same time they're killing people unnecessarily since the vampire can just feed on one person one night and then another the next day without anyone knowing and would greatly reduced the amount of deaths but no,they want to create a vampire utopia BY killing people so that there's more vampires and even MORE people die because the vampires gotta feed.
Tldr: Evil people were actually evil and want to kill people and Seichin decided to be irrational because he knows a little girl
One of his major points of sympathy with the Shiki was contradicted by none other than himself. He stated that Toshio was in the wrong for killing people who were once human but then gave Sunako an excuse to rid herself of any ethical concern with his bs line about how she is no longer human so she cannot be held to human standards.
I wish the Shiki's plan made more sense. It was almost impossible for their plan to work, multiple humans were bond to find out what was happening before they could overrun them. The humans going hysterical at the end and killing each other doesn't surprise me but capturing the vampire lady and trying to negotiate with the Shiki would have made way more sense. As the nurses and the priest said the Doctor had changed to much to even think properly at the end. I still enjoyed the story but wish it concluded differently or had a follow up story.
Hate to brake it to you but a wendgo is (almost) completely different from a vampire. If you get bitten by a wendgo you don't turn into one. Wendgo can't take a more human like appearance. Wendgo are flesh eaters not bloody drinkers. I could go on and on, but I think you should get the point
I feel like if the kid could go to the doctor and tell him that there is a virus that makes people more aggressive at night time it could save a lot of time

When I first read the manga and loved it I realized it reminded me of one of my favorite old vampire movies "Salem's Lot"👍

The book that this is based on is actually dedicated to Steven King because it’s inspired by Salem’s lot
To be honest. The story is presented in such a way that Shiki is likely a curse, and not sci fi type of condition.
So I doubt anyone can really stop the cycle of killing from ending. At least one Shiki will always survive (through unlikely set of circumstances) to continue the bloodshed.

But nope, you should read the manga ending since Seishin did not casually take Sunako into another nearby town on purpose in that adaptation, though.
Great video I just have one thing to add when he couldn’t just run to the police and tell them what was going on and people were just turning up dead. Because they weren’t dead they were shiki he could of took the police recordings of his girlfriend when he was trying to find weaknesses and that would of sparked their interest for sure sorry this is so long

In terms of coexistence I really don’t believe that was possible in the case of shiki. The primary reason being human natures makes us inherently afraid of predators like the shiki and although they could’ve survived by not feeding on the same people, once they were discovered they most likely would’ve been killed anyway. I also want to note that something that got brushed over in this video was that the humans actually killed other humans who got bit despite the fact that they were told that biting doesn’t change humans into shiki.

one of the things i enjoyed about this series is that a couple of those turned took a stance i NEVER see in vampire fiction. once turned, they refuse to prey on humans. point blank. Yes, they know they're going to starve to death. but they know murder is WRONG and they refuse to participate. usually they either go feral or just become morally compromised/addicted to feeding.

This anime is great and I recommend it to anyone that wants to see a good vampire anime.
They were so cocky at first but when they found out their weakness they begged to live😂
Watching Shiki made me wonder if neither the humans or shiki were in the right.
I always had this thought whenever I watched this anime. These things are obviously god knows how old. That means that they learnt how to coexist with humans, secretly in the shadows. There must be more such enclaves or families of Shiki all over the world. And they know just how volatile humans can be against anything that threatens us. Surely, if one such enclave starts acting out, others would step in to prevent human intervention. Or better yet, if they are so afraid of humans, maybe there is some sort of secret organization that hunts them down, maybe even government one.
So getting a word out, even if nobody believes us, is worth the try. There is bound to be some way to get to larger city. Steal a car, ride a bus, take the train, anything. The moment I'd get into some larger city, I would start spamming any forum I can think of with reports of attack on our village. I would try and contact government, anything. If someone responds, we're saved and we found people that can help us. If nobody believes us, I would start telling there's a serial killer there and city management is trying to cover it up. This should at very least provoke some response from law enforcement.

I think not destroying the vampire research and having bqckups is the way to go there. Though destroying the dead bodies to cover up what happened there is a dumb move but at this rate probably the only self preservation call there is. The other survivors can become vampire hunters and more not to mention they can form said group to hunt down and kill every last vampire out there.
The matter of fact about the Shiki is the fact that how ambiguous the differences between its novel, manga, and anime are rather than which side is right or not since its a rare story that Humans were right and not the aggressors and the Kirishiki clan are indeed the evil...ish ones for the most part, really. That includes Sunako too...
At the end of the day, hence why it is such a rare story for these two reasons such as Villagers or Humans being %100 righteous in it and how much of these differences on all those media and adaptations of it, after all.

Being stuck in a youth is great but being immortal is not. Because of any human friends you make they'll die before you. And you would have to deal with the pain over and over and over.
Unless your immortality works like an infection so you can make everyone you care about live forever with you.

You said the blood of a SHIKI still flows through them as if they still have a pulse....... but aren't all the shiki much more pale than living humans?
I think a corpse being pale is the result of the blood falling wherever gravity takes it which is known as Palor Mortis.
So they should not have become (or remained) so pale after reanimation if their blood continues to flow through them as if they are truly living.

I personally think all the Shiki deserved what they got coming to them. (flame me all you want idc) They turned unwilling people to their cause, becoming an invasive parasite against humans to an insane degree. That kid, like it or not is NOT a nice person, or at the very least she should NOT have created a cultic mob like she had.
If she were truly peaceful, she would have kept to herself with what family she had, rather than trying to potentially start a global pandemic of misery and death with the other's.

The shiki aren’t traditional vampires. Shiki refers to corpse demons and they can only be created after they die . It’s also fairly random who comes back once they’ve died.

Well the shiki feed on the same victim for days until their blood runs dry, that’s why they all ‘die’, but I’m assuming Toshio wasn’t fed on enough yet and plus he was under Yuki’s control

I always liked to think that Seishin awakened as a Jinrou since he experienced transformation. Shiki takes a few days to awaken after their human death.
I'm not sided with both but when sunako tell tamako to make villagers kill each other that's way to Fck up , also Nao issue idk what to say , why so dumb enough to kill your beloved family just want to make them same as her ? She supposed protect her family from them ( shiki ) .... Now she cannot join her family in afterlife cuz she goin to hell cuz kill her own family

Okay so since the blood somehow continues to flow through them and yet they are not affected by anything Doctor Boy put inside his wife, you say they must have biological functions like metabolism, right?
Also they have a healing factor.
Plus we all see in the anime that even the brain reanimates.
So probably the only dead parts of them are the hearts and lungs because they don't breathe and lack a pulse.
This means that they are simply alive but with a few dead organs and without vital signs.
Basically, you have to wonder if a living corpse is still really even a corpse at all and I would say no it is not.
If you define dead as lacking biological functions and being inanimate,
then anything that DOES have biological functions and animation is just living. So then by those definitions, Undeath cannot exist, even in concept.
If you define Undeath as dead but animated, well that contradicts the definitions of both living and dead.
Moral of this anime: Never invite any strangers in your home..... Even if it's life or death situation.

I really can't accept the ending would be like that uhhh I hope there will be a season 2 also I can say this anime is so great the creator not just making it like illogical story but mix the content with all science things like the causes of the patient illness that's kinda like wow is there any doctor who watches this anime? You must be agreeing with Toshio sensei😂 but overall this anime is really amazing all the bloodshed happened and how their hearts can't take it to kill their friends and close acquaintance who turned to be shiki. Its whole emotional story and I not even know what will I do on that situation💀💀
