- In an attempt to colonize Mars, 21st century scientists seed the planet with algae to absorb sun light and purify the atmosphere, and cockroaches who in turn spread the algae as they feed. 500 years later, the first manned mission to Mars loses contact with Earth, and a second ship is sent to investigate.

Terror Formars was great because it was kind of silly, and terrifying and the author wasn't afraid to kill anyone. The first season anime adaptation wasn't great but it wasn't bad either I don't know what anyone was thinking with season 2. Somehow they managed to turn a psycho-action thriller vibe into one that was more like a high school slice-of-life vibe.
I guess that’s why some people hate it, they tried to apply scientific knowledge on science fiction. As a result, some people are triggered cause how ridiculous it is
No it was terrible. It started good and all with the way the first 2 expeditions failed but the third one was ridiculous. Suddenly they can fly into space to attack them before they land and then they keep building characters up just to have them one shot in the next panel. It was so poorly written.

I think the issue is that they started getting away from some of the brutality of the first seasons and by the last one, it felt like a different show. Its really too bad because it could have been awesome if they could have actually brought the series to a conclusion and kept the same energy of the first season, Dark and brutal

Yea they actually show the roach holding her decapitated head honestly the the whole first season of this anime is brutal and gory they did a good job portraying it now I can’t speak for the second season cause I haven’t finished it I dropped it for some reason but can’t remember why
@@TMAN30 the second season isn’t as graphic as the first and they changed the art design. A different studio might have made it. Season 1 is definite the better season

Its too bad this anime didn't continue. It was such an interesting anime with the idea of intelligent cockroaches and humans being spliced with specific earth animals that either gave them a huge advantage over the cockroaches or made them somewhat more useful as support. Such a clever concept and a shame the series was never able to be finished

Fun fact: for those who don’t know, the live action movie is actually the story of BUGS 2, with Ichiro being the traitor and Komachi the MC of the movie, the leg cockroach takes their dna from the locust guy, the rainbow one takes the dna from the rainbow stag girl, I can't remember the others.

Correction Peacock mantis shrimp is the strongest punch in the entire animal kingdom. So fast and so hard infact it created a small burst of explosion due to heat and velocity built by the punch when in motion and created an air bubble that shatters around it i.e usually shells or aquarium glass. I don't think the anime really put it in full detail. If a human possessed this it would literally be like one punch man 🤟🏽
Yesn't it creates a cavitation bubble in water, were the water gets forced away from the impact but since this pocket is compleltly empty it sucks all the water around it back in as quick as possible causing a second impact which is why it is so deadly in water, while on land still dangerous in water is the real threat.

I remember reading the manga as the chapters were releasing like 12 years back and I was the only one who even knew it existed. Such a wild story.

I think the author just kind of gave up, and I completely understand him. Once they went to earth, it was just buying time seeing where he could take the story but there's not much to do anymore. Since there's so many stakes at play I kind of think there are many variables since it's a damned global invasion. Terra Formars has heavy political happenings in the background so when you have to put it on a global level against a common enemy of humanity, it becomes a clusterF.
Nowadays the mangaka is doing another manga afaik.
I am glad i have the whole anime chapters, and books, including ovas, this anime is a gem.

THIS ANIME IS SO AWESOME. Thanks to you I discovered it. I finished first part/season.
Also, just after I started watching it, I did travel on a vacation and I rent an appartement with my family, only to discover many roaches (BIG FLYING ones) on that appartement. I didn't sleep well that night but we killed like 6 of them, and we didn't have much choice. We got our money back and left at in the morning lmao. I'm kind of get startled scared when I see a flying cockroach especially. Because it's hard to kill.
Anyway what I love about this anime, is there are some similarities with Jojo's Bizzare adventure somehow. Like the sound of the punches and when you just think some cockroach is escaping, they introduce some music with piano, and the protagonist says that he already caught it with his strings. Gives you those "Yare yare daze" vibes so much.
Also Michelle is the best girl on the anime.

Hi, to anyone interested in watching the series even further I strongly recommended reading the Manga. The anime skips a couple chapters early on (2 ovas cover some of the starting chapters but not all). I promise it gets even better than this. S2 messes up the watch order so I don't recommend watching that and instead go straight to the Manga. There's around 200 current chapters (author is currently on hiatus for being sick) but if you want to read the Manga I recommend starting at around chapter 50-55

The live action only chronicles the early ova special amd has some hugely different undertones. The Manga and anime are more sociopolitical and bleak compared to the live action of which the anime starts after the ovas
