This is probably one of the most criminally underrated Monty Python Sketches. Along with the Fish License Sketch, Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson, the dirty Hungarian Phrasebook, and Dennis Moore.
I think this is probably my favourite Flying Circus sketch! Graham C is flipping brilliant in this, the facial expressions and the whole Flopsy thing are hilarious! Bye for now, keep your teeth clean!
Lemming, Lemming, Lemming of the Bee-Dee-Ay Lemming, Lemming Lemming of the Bee-Dee, Lemming of the Bee-Dee Bee-Dee, Bee-Dee-Ay-Ay-Ay! It's a man's life, in the British Dental Association!
When I was a kid I never even heard of monty pythons flying circus till my uncle Jimmy showed it to me and I couldn't stop laughing. I've been hooked ever since.
"Poor Flopsey's dead, and never called me mother" There are more funny lines in one MP sketch then most american show's have in 30 minutes! There'll never be another troupe as funny.
Graham Chapman is an absolutely incredible performer. They all are, but i’m frequently most taken with his bizarre characters. He’s great at straight-man too (the comedy term😉).
I constantly find myself singing that jingle at the end to myself, just randomly in the middle of the day. "Lemming...Lemming...Lemming of the B.D.A...Lemming...Lemming...Lemming of the B.D., Lemming of the B.D., B.D.B.D.A-ee-A.!"
The characters are so well developed, they should've used them more... Imagine an action figure of Terry Jones dressed up as a surgeon armed with a Bazooca... Awesome to say the least
Dick Vosburgh (1929-2007), American comedy writer, emigrated to the UK, writer for the BBC for many years, and Friend of Python. He's also in "How To Irritate People".
@nilloc93 You're thinking of the Panzerfaust (simple, low cost, generally non-reusable AT-weapon). The Panzerschreck OTOH was an enlarged German version of the Bazooka (caliber was bigger) and was usually employed by 2-man teams. And yes: That thing in the sketch looks like a Panzerschreck. Common Panzerfaust-models (the 30 and 60) were much smaller and are easily identified by their exposed warheads.
this has got to be in my top five or at least ten monty python sketches. it is sheer genius.oh and graham chapman is perfect in his role. flopsy is dead and never called me mother.! im trying to get my mom into this and she was asking em the purpose of this sketch.then i had to explain that its monty python.there is no reasoning.love this sketch lol. Lemming, leming, lemiing of the bda
I agree. I wonder if you have read Chapman's "A Liar's Autobiography"? It's totally insane. I never realized how important his contributions were to The Flying Circus.
I could see Graham's bit over and over again, he's so damn funny hahahaha Love his accent LOL "I'm glad you could all come to my little party... And Flopsy's glad too... Aren't you Flopsy?....AREN'T YOU FLOPSY??" BANG!
This is probably my favorite sketch. I love Monty Python! People think it's kind of weird that I watch it because I'm an American teen, but my grandparents raised me on this :)
It's been a while since I've seen the movie "V for Vendetta" but there is something about the guy in this 1:19 black and white poster that very much reminds me of that movie.
Have you got one as a restaurant scene with multiple waiters that serve and remove everything way too fast? E.g. they bring the water, and silverware, but then the waiter on the other side promptly takes that away; serve the appetizer, then remove it; serve the main dish, but promptly remove it, and so on?
I'm glad you could all come to my little party. and floppsy is glad too. aren't you floppsy??? aren't you floppsy??? pang... that will teach you to play hard to get!!! HILARIOUS!!!!!!! ;)
@1SaG basically what your saying is because the STG44 was made first, the AK47 is a type of STG44 Bazooka is the name of a type of rocket propelled grenade system, generally reffered to as a rocket launcher. It is not a class of weapon, it is a SPECIFIC type of weapon, like an Iphone, its a smart phone, but that does not mean that a blackberry is a type of Iphone. also i know wtf a panzerfaust is, totally irrelevant to the discussion, panzershcrecks were often used by only 1 man in the late war
Why didn't Monty Python make a spy film? ): I really enjoyed this.
I think Wanda came close.
A two hour spy movie with bits of random nonsense thrown in... that would have been one hell of a writing session.
I think this is one of the most underrated Monty Python sketches. When I first saw it, I laughed until tears started coming out of my eyes.
Underrated ??? Shut up. Go eat some fresh fruit !
Its based on an earlier sketch cleese did with greame and tim brooke taylor in at last the 1948 show from 1967 or 8
@@johnb1150What was the name of the sketch?
Sadly, it's rather self-referential.
I love how John Cleese maintains throughout the whole sketch that nothing is going on.
I love that "Lemming of the BDA" jingle at the end. It's one of my favourite Python mini-diddies.
"Poor Floopsey is Dead, and Never Called me Mother"
I'll just be over here on the floor laughing to death.
This is probably one of the most criminally underrated Monty Python Sketches. Along with the Fish License Sketch, Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson, the dirty Hungarian Phrasebook, and Dennis Moore.
My favorite is The Scottish Poet
The older I get the more brilliant the Pythons get. It's quite remarkable, really. Keep it up, boys!
I think this is probably my favourite Flying Circus sketch! Graham C is flipping brilliant in this, the facial expressions and the whole Flopsy thing are hilarious!
Bye for now, keep your teeth clean!
By far my favorite Graham Chapman moment. May he rest in peace.
I didn't even realize you can say "good morning" as a farewell rather than a greeting lol
Lemming, Lemming, Lemming of the Bee-Dee-Ay
Lemming, Lemming
Lemming of the Bee-Dee, Lemming of the Bee-Dee
Bee-Dee, Bee-Dee-Ay-Ay-Ay!
It's a man's life, in the British Dental Association!
*Smashes Comment*
Right, NoI No! I warned you about the slogan! Right, that's the end! Stop the comment thread! Stop it!
FNGLHR Oh you're no fun anymore.
bubba8194 *walks in* I heard that! Who said that?
Dinsdale!
I guess so. It is.
This is one the most quotable skits but this is the best:
"What's happened"
"He's two-timed me"
"Bad luck"
Palin is actually pretty darn dashing in this one. He plays the badass very well.
This sketch is one of my all time favorites, but it's way underrated... Graham Chapman rocks!
"...and Flopsy's glad too. Aren't you, Flopsy?"
XD
Every python is wonderful, and the 2 ex pythons are sadly missed. Happy pining for the fjords.
When I was a kid I never even heard of monty pythons flying circus till my uncle Jimmy showed it to me and I couldn't stop laughing. I've been hooked ever since.
"Poor Flopsey's dead, and never called me mother"
There are more funny lines in one MP sketch then most american show's have in 30 minutes!
There'll never be another troupe as funny.
This is possibly the greatest skit they've done. And that's a hard feat to pull off.
I love John Cleese in the beginning, pretending he doesn't have any books.
People in America like to poke fun at British teeth, but they don't realize the kind of crap their dentists have to deal with.
They were there for 2 & a half hours
Time flies when you're having fun
4 and a half*
LOL Probably my fav in the monty python series.
"Somethings going on here.."
"there is NOTHING going on here"
LOL
Graham Chapman is an absolutely incredible performer. They all are, but i’m frequently most taken with his bizarre characters. He’s great at straight-man too (the comedy term😉).
He had the most leading man quality of the lot, like a Christopher Lee.
Which is why he played king Arthur and Brian in the movies.
The bazooka in the video is a Belgian Blindicide a 1950's weapon rarely seen these days.
Actually it looks more like a German Panzerschreck based on the blast shield and the back of the tube
I heard it for the first time today and am sure it has become part of my days in the future.
The characters are so well developed, they should've used them more... Imagine an action figure of Terry Jones dressed up as a surgeon armed with a Bazooca... Awesome to say the least
16 years ago. WOW.
Dick Vosburgh (1929-2007), American comedy writer, emigrated to the UK, writer for the BBC for many years, and Friend of Python. He's also in "How To Irritate People".
By the way, the guy playing Van De Berg was an English comedy writer of the time, though he didn't work on Python.
Who was he?
one of my favorite skits ever
You may of heard of the Kingsman of the Secret Service. Now they have The Dentist of the secret service.
Lol
Yeah lol indeed. "May of". Learn English, you ponce.
2 great things about that Monty Python sketch: FRESH FRUIT!! & Carol Cleveland in black tights....😘
And then thirty years later black books was made and it was this sketch but as a series
"What 'appened to Nigel?"
"Orthodontic Jake gave him a gelignite mouthwash!"
"I knew there was something going on...."
"Well, there isn't!" LMFAO
He's holding the bazooka the wrong way.
It's been a rough day for him.
More like its a model designed for left-hand users.
Dont know how historically accurate is that design but meh..
If he held it with the square barrier near his face, we wouldn't see much of his face in the sketch.
"There, Flopsy's dead. And he never called me mother."
I love this bit!
what i like about monty is that they keep bringing back parts of scetches into other scetches
this has got to be in my top five or at least ten monty python sketches.
it is sheer genius.oh and graham chapman is perfect in his role.
flopsy is dead and never called me mother.!
im trying to get my mom into this and she was asking em the purpose of this sketch.then i had to explain that its monty python.there is no reasoning.love this sketch lol.
Lemming,leming,lemiing of the bda
I agree. I wonder if you have read Chapman's "A Liar's Autobiography"? It's totally insane. I never realized how important his contributions were to The Flying Circus.
fresh fruit omg
And pointed sticks.
I could see Graham's bit over and over again, he's so damn funny hahahaha
Love his accent LOL
"I'm glad you could all come to my little party... And Flopsy's glad too... Aren't you Flopsy?....AREN'T YOU FLOPSY??"
BANG!
Oh my god the ending is the best! He actually was an agent
This is probably my favorite sketch. I love Monty Python! People think it's kind of weird that I watch it because I'm an American teen, but my grandparents raised me on this :)
Lemming's a goddamned hero
This is my favorite Monty Python Sketch ever.
This is my absolute favorite Monty Python sketch EVER.
It's been a while since I've seen the movie "V for Vendetta" but there is something about the guy in this 1:19 black and white poster that very much reminds me of that movie.
'violence...fresh fruit!' rotfl XD i love these guys
so this is the origin of austin power's mr evil!
Poor flopsy :(
That's exactly what I thought!
DR Evil!! He didn't go to medical school for 10 years to be called Mr.!
Haha
Bryan Todd Bond Villains?
I didnt spend eight years at evil medical school to be called "mister", thank you.
One of the most underrated sketches.
"What happened?"
'He two-timed me.'
"Bad luck."
This has to be one of my all time favourite Flying Circus skits. I can barely breathe from laughing!
I'm glad you could all come to my little party, and Flopsy's glad, too!
There was definitely something going on in that book shop...
No there wasn’t.
This is, PURE COMEDY GENIUS
It is a man's life in the British Dental Association.
this is cleese at one of his best, although nearly all his sketches are insanely funny
0:05 ''fresh fruit'' xD
My god, you've got guts!
What the hell kind of accent is Michael trying to do? xD
And eeeevvviil one.
Italian?
Blofeldian.
Probably French, considering the character's name was LeFarge.
This one is FUNNY! I think it's one of their best. The guy who plays Lafarge's accent is priceless!
I think this is one of Terry Jones' best sketches.
This is one of my favourite sketches
"Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" is a great movie.
This is probably my favourite flying circus bit, ever, isn't it floppsy?
I love the utter silliness of this sketch.
It's not a bazooka, it's a panzerschreck!!! xD
Oh, and it's an awesome sketch!
Na Its Ok. People Make Mistakes. I'm Glad you are part of the very small percentage of people on RUclips who can actually Say they are sorry.
"What's happened?"
"He's two-timed me!"
"Bad luck."
Blast shield is on backwards.
+Frank Beedell
no it isn't, its just not lined up with the sights
"...and soon you will ALLLLL be dead." The way Graham Chapman says ALLLLL busts me up every time!
Lemming of the BD- Lemming of the BD- Lemming of the BDA!
I think I'll sing that for about 3 hours straight now.
"LEMMING OF THE BRITISH DENTAL ASSOCIATION"
--- i love this classic American comedy
--- this classic American comedy
--- American comedy
--- AMERICAN
A man barges in with a bazooka. "No, nothings going on." LMAO
It was a Prop Weapon Designed for the show. It seems to be a Mix Between a Bazooka and a Panzershreck.
I love this classic fish comedy. I don't think accountants would "get it".
eh, wink wink nudge nudge eh, say no more
atreyu2productions but a "guirella" would,eh..eh,nudge...nudge...,say no more
"Lemming, Lemming, of the BDA.
Lemming, Lemming, Lemming of the BD, Lemming of the BD, BD BDA"
I've got that stuck in my head.... Good Sketch though.
"and Flopsy is glad too!" I love Graham as a villian.
I just read that Douglas Adams actually wrote one sketch in the last episode for the Pythons and also appeared in a MP sketch too
thanks mate, i was looking everywhere for the lyrics.
Chapman is just brilliant in this sketch!
My favourite sketch:-)
"We're out of them" xD
I wonder how many people now recognise "dead...and never called me mother" as a quotation...
2:33 Who comes out with "there's nothing going on?" Not sure it isn't Gilliam?
Good question. I couldn't find anything, but I'm fairly certain that's not Gilliam
I had never seen this one before, it's really great
Lemming.
Lemming.
Lemming of the BDA.
It's a mango's life in the British Dental Association. ;)
Another masterpiece of comedy from the Monty Python team that l haven't seen in ages
2:27 ''Is there anything going on?
- No there's nothing going on!
See? There's nothing going on.''
Vanderberg is awesome. xD
" Aren't you going to say something about 'mine aren't, but the Big Cheese gets his at low tide tonight?' "
I think I'll have soup today. . .
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was reminded of that :)
My grandad is one of the dentists with the beards in this. But i can't tell which one..
Have you got one as a restaurant scene with multiple waiters that serve and remove everything way too fast? E.g. they bring the water, and silverware, but then the waiter on the other side promptly takes that away; serve the appetizer, then remove it; serve the main dish, but promptly remove it, and so on?

HILARIOUS!!!!!!! ;)
I rather enjoyed that one. well done boys, blast fax kudos all around.
