I just don’t understand why this masterpiece never makes any top 20 Python sketches. It doesn’t even make any underrated or ‘deep cuts’ list. It’s ridiculous. This has every element of what made Python so innovative and legendary. Yet for some reason this sketch seems forgotten or ignored by the masses.
Probably because it’s slow-moving, very long, extremely obvious, and not very funny. Oh, and it has a deadly, humor-negating laugh track. Other than that, though, you’re right-stone classic.

I thought i recognized Jersey, but never had confirmation. For the Merkins, that's Jersey Channel Islands, not NEW Jersey. Why don't ya ever hear a Merkin say they're from York or Hampshire? Only New Jerseyites forget that New part.

I was waiting for "pile of picked clean _bones"_ to be found. This sketch is full of holes! How am I supposed to enjoy this when there are so many unanswered questions? To wit, was the _deja vu_ with the airplane landing* an indication of a glitch in the Matrix and key to the Paraguayan's ability to suss out the Brit's hiding place?? Inquiring minds want to know, here, people! * _Could it have been the same plane? It might have been._ _Whoa! 😎_

Not trying to ruin the humour or anything (I adore Python and this sketch) but I thought hide n' seek rules were you had to stop moving as soon as the seeker stopped counting and any attempt to move after that was cheating? Cheaters got a punch in the shoulder for that in my day!
I didn't play it like that, we called it manhunt but it was basically just it, but it started as hide and seek and to make someone else it you would say 1,2,3 manhunt caught, then you aren't it anymore and they are It was great fun
