Thanks to Steve and his Family, Cora went from a lost unwanted pup to full blown RUclips Star machine shop dog 🤩🥳
I didn't know Stan was even in town. Awesome that he stopped by and paid you a visit. Also good you were able to help out your friend making that part.
Back in Black! Bar Z Bash! Thats the new Slogan!
Summer bash theme is from my wife that always watches with me "Take It To The Limit" Thanks Steve great video this week and every week!
Steve, the small things show a man’s true character. Even though you have a lot of things that need done in a days time… you always stop and give your animal friends a moment of your time. I wish more people were as caring and kind as you are. Not only to animals… but to other humans too. You’re truly a great person Steve. Stay amazing friend.
“Feeling luck punk, try and make it” would be a funny name for Stan’s meet.
Looks like you had a Big Friendly Giant in your workshop. Stan seems like a nice guy.
I'm saying this for people that don't have a machine shop available to them, so that they can be encouraged to fix stuff. There are lots of things that can be done with relatively simple tools. An average man with a welder , a drill press and an angle grinder could make that part for what it is. Although it wouldn't be nearly as pretty or accurate. It's just a bracket for a hydraulic valve lever...the acceptable tolerances involved are pretty wide. I do have a machine shop in my garage, so I'm not denigrating anything that Steve did, at all. But we all have to start somewhere, and this is one of those projects that literally can be made from a piece of flat steel and a piece of black pipe, and you could probably delete the black pipe. The large center hole is just clearance for the rod that sticks out of the valve. The only critical dimensions are the distance from the pivot point to the 4 mounting holes, and even that would probably function perfectly fine within 1/16" tolerance. It might not look the same but function perfectly and stronger than the original. Think about how you can make that part with the tools you have, it's a good exercise for problem solving.
Replication is great practice for any machinist! There's so many ways to do things. LOVE the choices you made here.
As a Gunsmith I can attest to removing material , I am astounded at how fast fine polish on a soft wheel can remove metal or roll over a edge (if your not careful)AND equally amazed at how long it takes to remove material when you want to remove material.
You and Cora loading firewood is like Mr. Rogers taking off his shoes.
“Machinist in our midst” a 0lay on Gorillas of the mist, is my entry for the summer bash.
When the machining get tough the Tough get to machining .
I love seeing the metal shaper in use, there's something delightfully archaic about using one in this day and age. Because we can. Strangely relaxing to watch it in action too.
Good morning Summers family and Summers fans! From Dorset, UK.
"when the going gets tough" great theme idea IMO
The Summer Bash(The driest but funniest bar in the states)=Good excuse for giving the ol girl a road trip and Elizabeth plus some lovely content opportunities. 👌 👏🏴👍
Been living my machining dreams vicariously through machining videos on YT for years now and… saw a new way of centring on the lathe today. The road of learning goes on forever :)
Slogan from this side of the pond...
Two great RUclipsrs in one spot.
