I'm a 53 yr old woman and thanks to you and these videos I am successfully installing my own vinyl flooring. I can't thank you enough for your VERY helpful videos. Seriously, THANK YOU and GOD BLESS YOU!!
I was just sitting here racking my mind over how I was going to lay my last row against the wall under the trim on a doorway. I've spent about an hour trying to get just this one piece set. I never thought to trim the locking mechanism and glue. Thank you so much! God bless.
Dude....you probably saved my marriage. Thanks man! Your videos are life savers and you are the man!
Haha!!! Dont know about that.....
Thank you so much! I was ready to make a pile in my backyard and burn all of this laminate had I not found your video. I sincerely thank you.. and so does my wife lol. We decided to take this project on and we were about to quit when I found your channel. Keep sharing your knowledge.
Great Video. It's always the weird areas, and tight corners that are a struggle. Your tips will be a big help. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much for the tip! I am a first time DIYer, used this at a number of places. Works like charm! Thank you!
Your videos have saved my butt this week while doing a laminate floor installation. It's the first time I have attempted this, and while a 10x12 room took me all day, I've had to rewatch a couple of videos for review. Thank you!!
Very glad to hear!
Thank you so much for your very helpful tips and clear instructions. Your video is easy to follow and well-timed with your explanation. I wish every DYI was this straightforward.
I wish I saw this two days ago!! We have been struggling so much with our tight u-shaped kitchen area. This will help so much! You deserve a bonus!
Thanks for taking the time to put this on line!
I’m fascinated with your videos & tips! I’ve been installing fitted kitchens for over 20 years & occasionally get asked to install laminate while I’m there. The tips & tricks I’ve picked up from you since watching these videos over the ‘lockdown period’ have amazed me. I’ll certainly be using all of them from now on....no doubt saving me plenty of valuable time.
Thank you!, I ended up using a wood file instead of the box plane. The razor on the box plane I bought wasn't wide enough to get the job done. File worked great too
God bless you, Joe!! I've been looking for this solution all day. Will get the planer tomorrow and start again around those door jams. I have quite a few to do throughout the house with all the doorways and closets. Thank you for sharing your knowledge about installing laminate flooring. I've watched a lot of videos on RUclips and yours are by far the best!!
I had the exact situation and your video was the ONLY one I could find that explained it with perfect camera work. Thank you and God bless you.
Love the slide under installed tile part
Useful tips thanks. I don't have one of those little block planes, I found a sharp chisel worked really well though, much better than a knife for me.
Great tip and timely as I am finishing up my floor with the two closets. Thank you!
I was struggling with this and trying to get too creative without thinking of stripping the joints! Great tip, thanks!
Thanks! I think yours might be my favorite of the laminate vids on RUclips.
Thanks Aaron. I hope so!!
Exactly the information we needed! You rock!
First video I've found addressing the type of flooring that connects at an angle. Thank You!
You are one of a kind. Thank you for helping so many of us desperate here 👍🏼😅✅
Thanks Joe! You da MAN!!! Appreciate all you do to help in the areas we (I) am clueless in:). God bless you bro! bd
Thank you so much for this tip! I used it and it worked better than expected. The last floor I installed I ended up removing the whole door casing. What a pain and a lot of extra work. Keep em coming
I’ve watched several of these videos to help me with my tight spot along a wall with 4 door jambs, and this one is by far the best video. Thanks for sharing it!
Yw and thank u!
Joe, another excellent videos! I am doing my first laminate floor and this video allow me to complete a very challenging portion of the project. It took me hours to complete one side of installing the laminate around the door jam but took me minutes to complete the other side after watching your video. Planing down the locking edge and using wood glue was very helpful. Thank you very much.
Thank you for sharing your expertise; first time we are doing this; having to repair due to a leaky frig, and onlyhad 1 box left, so not any room for mistakes! You are a life saver!
I want to thank you so much for your straight talk.. ( example) not saying a million other things that take away from the point that needs to be understood. And also for sharing your professional advice with everyone. I can't thank you enough for taking the time out to do these videos. May you always be successful in what you do Joel..
Exactly what I was looking for. I'm a high-end carpenter and as old as the hills. Doing my own place. Tips like yours should be paid for! I tell all my apprentices they will give me $50.00 a week for the easter eggs and easy outs for the duration of the job. I get the headlight stare....after the first couple lessons I've a couple offers. Funny as hell. You are a pro my friend!!! Subscribing and bookmarking
Used this technique last night for a closet and doorjamb, worked like a charm, thanks.
Thank you for your video. You made our project possible. We learned a lot from you.
OMG, thank you! I have been searching high and low for this instruction!
Thanks for your videos. They have been a great help. I appreciate you taking the time to help us out.
Thanks Peter! I need to hear that!!
Great, you just saved me at least 3 hours. Thank you very much.
Wonderful explanation of a common problem experienced by laminate installers. Thanks bro!! U da man!!!
Awesome video! Thank you for investing some of your time to help us. Much appreciated.
Wish I had found this video before I spent much of the day yesterday fighting my new kitchen floor and wasting pieces. I will use this technique today to finish under two adjacent doorways for pantry and garage in my kitchen. Thanks!
This is EXACTLY what I needed to see! Thanks for actually showing each step! Now I can finish that last row!
Good luck
Have struggled with laminate in the past this will make life easier on my next project
Your series are videos are AMAZING! I’m tackling the installation of a basement with a bedroom and hallway. I’ve watched your videos over and over and then come back again when I’m doing a specific technique.
+Di Yer thanks for the comments and im happy to help. Check out laminate university there is a link below. Hope to see you there!
Getting ready to lay laminates in narrow hallway with 5 doors and stairwell access. Tips in this video with definitely help! Thank you!
Its amazing, I watched a bunch of your stuff before I started this project, and after it took me 3 hours to plot my room, board spacings, planning for vents, doorways, closets, and set up the first row, I'm watching it all over again just because I want it perfect. Thanks for your uploads, very helpful.
Thanks for letting me know that Robert!!
Thank you for this video!!! Spent so much time trying all the things that came to my mind and nothing worked! This video helped me in 3 minutes. Honestly felt like crying when I managed to fit it in. Thanks once again
Thanks man. This saved my day. Liked and subscribed. Keep it up.
Wow. This answered my questions, and I feel much more confident. You do a great job of teaching. thanks.
+Jane West thank you
This is my first laminate installation of my bedroom. Your video provides great info my me to install my closet, doors and door way. Thank you. Jane
Glad to help Jane!
Just watched a dozen ‘how to work the end row doorjamb’ vids. YOURS answered all my questions, told me exactly what I needed to know, so HELPFUL. The other vids can be planed and glued to the trash heap compared to this gem of instructional tips.
Great idea -- thanks so much. Good quality video. I got to see clearly all the issues that I'm dealing with today.
Plane and glue??!! Thanks for this video! After struggling with 4 bedrooms installing 1/2” thick premium laminate I will now use this on the fist floor coming up soon. Why did I not find this RUclips channel before?! God bless!
Wasn't sure I could do an installation, till I saw your advice here. A lot of people use a wood strip to cover the expansion gap in the UK, but this is so much better and you make it look easy! Thank you.
Glad to help John!
Great information, I'll make sure to try this next time I do a flooring install .
Can't wait to try it! Was pulling my hair out trying to get the plank around the door!

Thank you soo much, buddy. My prayers to you too, and to yours family.
Thanks. Great to see real world situations being dealt with rather than just theoretical videos.
Thank you
Well done thanks, I was so nervous about how I was going to finish my installation. I actually have 6 jams I need to go under in my last row.
Watched all your videos prior to installing my first laminate floor. Followed your directions, screws not wedges or shims, layout prior to start, etc. floor came put perfect. Had to refer to videos a few times but very helpful, thanks......
You are very welcome and thanks for the comment.
I really appreciate your flooring videos. I'm doing flooring install at home and refer to these videos a LOT!

Great Great video, thanks for taking the time to post these great practices
Just saved my ass on redoing my living room, thanks for the tip!!! It worked wonderfully
So thank you very much for this lesson. I am installing a laminate floor in the majority of my home to get it ready to sell. I was falling into the problem to where I could not get the floor into some tight areas due to the way you have to install laminate. the whole angle into the lip and snaps down thing. So unlike installing a wood flooring, it is much harder to get around stuff. So to get around this I pretty much took out the door molding and jams for both the broom closet and pantry in the kitchen area. This morning while I was looking at another area that I will have to do; which is the door area going from the kitchen to the living room; I was thinking I really do not want to take this apart and started looking on youtube for another solution, and found it, thanks to your channel. Thank you very much; lucky for me I would have to take off the molding and replace it anyway in those areas due to the molding now being too high and leaving a pretty big gap so the work that had to be done anyway.
This was great, just what I needed to tackle a really difficult doorway. Thanks for posting wih good visuals.
You are welcome!
Hi, very good Idea to use small plane tool. Thanks!
Excellent . I am just starting my job and have been pondering how to deal with the situations that you have just shown. Thank you for taking the time to present this. Ken
You are welcome!
Wonderful video. To the point and excellent visuals and explanations. Thanks for sharing!
I'm doing a laminate floor in my daughter's room. I'm at the part where I have less than the width of a plank at the closet and wall. I really wasn't worried about it though. That's because I knew extraordinary people like yourself have already done clear concise videos on RUclips that walk me though the problem and solution. Thank you. Ill let you know how it goes.
Thank you so much! This is the video that helped me get the job done!
Thank you so much for this!! needed it.
Shaving the lip trick worked really well for me today on my first install. Thanks for this tip I would never have known
Great tips. Thank you.
Thanks so much.......I had the whole bedroom done and I got to the closet and door jams and have been cutting and fighting it for hours. Your advice will work great.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you, buddy! Nice job!

Thank you very much for all these helpful tips and for taking the time to make these videos and post them.
Yw buddy
Thanks Joe. For a beginner like me, there were a bunch of tips in this video that I would never have thought of, and saved me a ton of headache. 👍
Glad to help!
Thank you so much! Doing laminate for the first time and was having some real problems with the last row and the door. I was about to call the entire thing quits but your video saved the day!
That is great to hear!
Thanks for your expert advice, I get so much out of your videos.
Thanks
I wished I'd come across this 2 weeks ago. I actually pulled my door jamb off because I got soo frustrated! But, l still have a small closet area to do and this will save me all kinds of grief! Thank you for the video!
Excellent videos! Just completed a challenging (for me) first laminate flooring project that included a lavatory with 45 deg. doorway. Would not have been able to do it without first watching your videos. I one about planing down the locking tab and using wood glue was the best. Great job! Thank you.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! I have fought with angle angle flooring until I finally thought I had it down. Then came the doorway leading into the hall. I was ready to tear it all up and throw it away until watching this video. My problems are solved and you are awesome!
You're welcome very glad i could help.
Very good video. I am a flooring installer of 30+ years and am always researching on the internet. I ran across your video and found it to be very well made and simple to follow the instructions. I use this technique often and it is not a well known technique. It really goes back to the old installation method, when laminate first came out. There are very few installers out there with this knowledge.
Thanks for the comment Joseph!!
No problem at all. I am working on some things to help flooring installers on the internet and was wondering how long you have been doing videos, how is it going for you with youtube, does this channel create any business for you, and if you have any ideas that may be of help to flooring installers on the internet.
Yep my thoughts exactly been fitting since the big boom in laminate flooring clamping and glueing the bad old day lol
Been watching several of your videos and they are clear, concise and show a lot of experience. All are practical methods. Good Job
beautiful we love your work
thanks for sharing you made this project so much easier than it looked!
I'm glad I was able to help
Answers my curiosity how to work it out. Thanks for this tip!
Your videos have been a big help.
I watched this guy's videos a couple of times on my no-transition laminate install. I went and got that exact little plane from Menards after I tried using a blade on a few boards and almost got a blister from how much pressure I was exerting. The plane makes a huge difference. I also used small nails on my first row to keep it in place to avoid adding quarter round (drill small hole first). The cheater board helps with the first and final rows. Great tutorials and lots of helpful tips.
Thx and glad to help
