I only found out about the Black Pumas during the 2021 Grammy's and man was I enthralled. Everytime I hear the first words I get goose bumps. I got to see Black Pumas in San Francisco in Sept 2019 a couple weeks after I stumbled over them on YT. Their show was an excellent from beginning to end. Their guitarist, Adrian Quesada, has serious cred in the funk/soul scene and even has some past association Prince, as I recall. According to lore, the singer was a street busker in Austin before being introduced to him.
They use the song "colors" on a major TV station in South Africa.I contacted the manager just to let him know in case they weren't paying royalties for it but he said he was aware of it.He also said they'd be touring South Africa.Cool guy-just sent him an email and he responded.Great video btw.
