Mac. People just dont understand. Here in canada we dont ha e E85. But i youse mr12 race fuel. And let .me say its not cheap its 1045 dollars for 45 gallon drum. It last me almost 4 months. But its worth every penny. George is the best in E85 in tuning. Keep up the good content 👍
My 13 street glide has been tuned on e85 for 3-4 years now. Haven't had any problems yet and it runs way better. People need to put down the owners manual and ditch the dealership mechanics. 😂
I'll start off by saying this, in my experience e85 is hands down the way to go for racing, NOT FOR COMBINATION RIDING, or cruising for that matter. What I mean is, if you make a 100 mile one way trip every few days and want to spank a hellcat or 2 on the way e85 is not for you unless you want to stop for fuel before you get there. Everyone has their own opinion (being in the race scene believe me ive heard them all) I run 93 octane in my bike (128 w/ headwork and a big cam) and I can run it or I can cruise it and still do 150 - 250 miles on a tank depending on riding style. Me, I prefer 93 in my bike but I don't race Harleys on the track. I will say this. E85 makes anything a blast to drive or ride but like Officialmac said, there is maintenance that goes along with it because of its inconsistencies. Beautiful bike brother, Good video. 👍
@@officialmac yeah I'm in the upper Northeast, diesel is definitely more than gas, Unfortunately. And I don't think I've seen E85 for sale, we just get blended fuel. Everything from 89 to 93 is blended with E85. Gas stations up here actually advertise for non-e85 super.
The biggest thing that gets me about E85 is the inconsistency in octane and the fact that it is a little bit of a dirtier fuel on filters, injectors but the thing is if you're running your bike everyday that is a lot of heat in the cylinder for example you don't want to run 100 octane race fuel everyday it'll burn up your cylinder walls now with that being said the long-term effect on a performance machine like a motorcycle would be interesting to see say for example after 10 to 20 thousand miles now I have seen this effect on cars that were used everything from daily drivers to amateur racing and from that personally I prefer as little ethanol as possible and I have noticed better performance and mileage when it comes to using less ethanol But that is my humble opinion
Ok so can you answer me this I have a 103 head work reaper cams fueling lifters etc. is it safe to say that it would be ok to use E85 at least in the summer. Love the videos by the way.
I thought that ethanol attracts water to the fuel system. Do you use any treatment in the fuel to avoid this? I have ruined a few small engines with far less ethanol.
Is it possible to put an e85 pump on a 2011 sportster 48? Where to buy the pump, If you run e85 on a non e85 pump it will burn out the regular pump happened too my 08 crown vic three times.
Here in belize we only have regular and premium gas. Idk the numbers for them but I used to drive premium on my harley cause I could get more miles on one tank. But now the premium gas is $9 usd per gallon so I'm driving regular. I know the more gas the engine gets the cooler it runs so I know the regular gas is healthier for my bike anyways
Would be a much better video if the benefits if e85 were better explained like tuning characteristics such as richer stoich ratios allowing cooler temps and the high octane allowing more spark advance. This guy sounds clueless as to how e85 has less energy than straight 93 octane gas yet will make more power when tuned correctly for internal combustion.
There are plenty of videos out there showing that including one of my previous videos. Also I'm not a tuner or mechanic I'll leave that for the professionals and your builder to help you out with.
Tell ‘em my brotha. Tell these key board warriors da fact’s. I’m subscribing and I apologize for just just being one of those watchers and not subscribing.
If I'm taking a trip and I can't find E85 that's when I switch to 93 i have separate tunes for both. But there aren't to many places I've been that don't have E85.
So u have a tuner that you can switch in the middle of a ride? That's cool as shit. And no disrespect but it's obvious you haven't been anywhere your bike only has 6k miles.
@@FHOHNIC Yes I can switch maps between the 2 fuels and can ride the bike anywhere all day. Going cross country on my bike just ain't my thing but to each is own. I'm more of the going fast in a straight line type of rider.
Again can u switch maps on the road at a gas station? If we left ATL and was in Mississippi with no E85 could we at the Gas Station wait for you to switch maps and then they only have 89 Octane are you good.
I don’t have a bike so I would never disrespect and talk greasy to someone that does, but I will tell you (which you should already know), expect the haters and comments (doesn’t mean you have to except it, just expect it lol). Keyboard cowards always think they know more and like they can say whatever and WILL continue to do so- don’t entertain the small ish homie, life is too short….
Id like that e85 on my bike i live in houston texas and hot as hell and keeps getting hotter. but idk i cant stand riding in the damn heat. lol but be nice to have cooler engine with pipes and better on the entire system . makes sense to me and who the hell doesnt want more HP/TQ seriously.... how much was this to put on your bike and tune. i need this
What milage are you getting? How does it compare to what you got with 93? I know in built and tuned trucks/cars E85 will make great power. But E85 has lower energy content per gallon. Which makes it get lower miles per gallon. This makes it less attractive to longer distance driving. Like the vid!
Yes it does burn a little faster but cleaner. But as for the mileage I don’t have an exact but number but I’m usually not that far off from guys who run 93. As for long distances your bike will definitely run cooler and smoother on the throttle
So, If I start running E85 in my bike, I'm assuming that I'm going to have to upgrade the fuel system (fuel pump, lines, regulator, EFI mapping, etc...). E85 does burn cooler, but does it give any significant gains in power and reliability when the situation demands it? This application of fuel would be going into a 2021 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom that I use damn near everyday (just rolled over 3k miles in the last month of riding). As a mechanical engineer, I partially understand the benefits of using E85, but I'm not well versed in what gains other then lower burn temperature that I would have.
Benefits power figures, hurts longevity of fuel lines, fittings, and poor fuel milage. Basically, if you race, use it, if you ride often and far, dont do it. Overly simplified
Also just keep in mind man that that ethanol strong fuel is dirty as hell and you’re only getting away with it because the bike is new 6000 miles is nothing wait until you have 45 or 50,000 miles then let’s talk
We’ve got a bike with 52k on it now you can see it racing in the videos… plus these are 6k hard miles but I see a lot of guys that are running 93 octane and bikes not lasting 1k miles after being built🤔
I caught what you said about the filter, but did you change out the rest of the fuel lines? It was my understanding that e85 was harsh on the fuel lines and pump. Now of course that's 4 wheels with longer lines vs a somewhat direct. I'm looking at doing stage II this year, and any extra power that I can squeeze out would be an added benefit. I'm already in it for several thousand - why not make the most of my money?
Great info. If I understood correctly, you run E85 99 percent of the time, but if you don't 93 will run in the bike. Is there any performance issue when you don't run E85?
I wouldn’t say yes or no but we’ve been running E85 for years and never had a injector problem even ran it in my Grand National tuned of course but anything is possible just have always had good luck with it
Its 2022, they are quietly not putting as much alcohol in fuel as they once were. The drought and cost to produce corn fuel has gone up substantially. Thus, the mix ratio is no longer 85% anymore. The rating means it can max at a given percentage, but we are no where it during these times. Get an alcohol test tube and test the alcohol gravity for next vid.

Diesel fuel is always more expensive then gas. I've never seen it below, in fact it's usually a $1 more, at minimum.

Funny that your filter was clogged at 6000 miles when the recommended replacement is 100,000 miles.
Yep should always check your filters and lifters because harley recommended 10k on those
Have you heard of sta-bil fuel treatment for Ethanol fuel. I literally blew up A push lawnmower even rated for E85 just using it to mowe with before.

I don’t know about Harley but I put 85 in my jeep during my trip to Florida a few weeks ago and within 15 miles my check engine light came on
Sounds like your vehicle is not equipped for E85
I'm not a spokes person for the fuel just giving my experience.
Harley recommends premium gas. They made the engines. 91 octane. Are you saying different?
I’m saying if you had a opportunity to run a better fuel with more power from the pump would you?
@@officialmac so I run Shell 93 octane only. Ethanol free. What are your thoughts on that

E85 is cheap race fuel ! At the pump to an extent plus higher octane burns cooler . Yes it is facts no doubt !
