Most domestic engines the crank pulley is pressed on, where allot of Japanese cars it just slides on like in the video. Wanted to just double check before i pry too much on this crank pulley I'm doing
Just did this on my 15 Wrangler unlimited thanks to this video. Dewalt impact would not move it. Had to get a long pry bar wedged in there and used a long breaker bar to bust it loose. Once the bolt was off she came right out. Front seal was not leaking at all. Thanks for the video
tip - if you ever need to change the idler pulley on the belt tensioner its the same one as the other two. That tensioner is stupid money and if all you need is a pulley you can get out of it cheaper.
I was amazed that I was able to pull the harmonic balancer by hand. I have never changed one on a jeep before but I have changed them on other engines and I have always had to use a puller to take them off. I believe that those ones on the jeep are made that way on purpose because the bolt was super tight and kind of tapered up by the head and I have never seen a key like that before either.
Oddly enough I also have a rhd with a bad balancer. Thanks for the quick tips before I get invested in this repair.

Thanks. Good to hear the project went smoothly for you.

Thanks for the tip. Thats good to know. It will save me some dough if I have problems with that tensioner again.
Put in gear chief
How did it slide off so easily? You would usually need a pulley puller.

@@TimberKing I just watched another video of a Dodge caravan with the 3.6 Pentastar, and same thing! I guess that's just how it is with these engines.
Love the Trump flag.
👍Thanks
What size socket for the pulley?
I used an 1-1/8” socket to remove the bolt.
