    Sid is the only wrestler I ever met face to face. First of all,,, he is a monster, but that monster was one of the most gracious, soft spoken, funniest people I have ever met. That night he was to wrestle Vader. Someone asked how much Vader weighed?,, and Sid replied 460 pounds. The same person asked Sid what was the most he ever lifted? Sid replied,,,, 460 Pounds!

    From the time I seen Sid in the early 90s WWF, I always felt a sense of intimidation. Huge, tall loud guy with a blonde almost mullet. Strong, he could move well for a big guy. He just had a sense of danger to him. 2nd run, returning in 1996, I knew Shawn was going to lose the title to him.
    From many standpoints, he was a great choice to dethrone Shawn. Yeah, I also knew Shawn would regain. I was disheartened that Shawn vacated, happy that Bret won it, conflicted that Sid won it from Bret as I'm a fan of both.
    Every time I seen Sid on TV I knew we'd be in for some craziness. I felt his feud with Goldberg was too short and hated that Sid kept jobbing to him. Another case where Sid, from many standpoints, should've been a great threat to Goldberg. If he were shown to be the threat that he could be and capable of beating Goldberg, the rest of the wcw roster were in for some shit at point.
    What should have been.

    Sid and Randy Savage were two of the wrestlers I respected the most.
    Sid was a smart businessman, if I was booking and he said he wanted to take the summer off to play softball? Fine, let’s do an injury angle and give you some time off TV.
    Randy Savage was another smart businessman who always took care of his family, and I admire the fuck out of that so much. I gained so much respect for Randy when Vince called him and he asked Jerry Jarrett how many weeks he needed him before he left.
    I would give some credit to Bill Dundee for being a semi smart businessman…kind of, he tried to do the Letterman thing with his son on Jerry Springer

    Good to hear. Always liked Sid. Did the twitchy pyscho routine really well. And he never pandered when talking about wrestling as a business for him more than a passion.

    I usually enjoy technical wrestlers, but there was just SOMETHING with Sid. He was just built like a monster and had a presence to him that I haven’t seen before or since.

    I am really enjoying these podcasts. I've only read bits about Sid being difficult. I am with Kevin on this, great guy and did what was asked. It's always been known he only did it for the money. No shame in that, how many of us these days get a job we absolutely love and stick at it for life?

Much respect to you both and well that was not an easy episode for Big Kev ... sorry for your loss man😢

    • @DWtechfan
      @DWtechfan Год назад +2

      Agreed. Sid was getting heavily cheered over Hogan because audiences were getting tired of the Hulkamania shtick. Sid was a fresh face who also happened to be a giant man who could work fairly decently. WWF did a great job of presenting his psycho character and he stood out in a sea of stereotypes and cartoon characters. It's a damn shame he didn't end his career in the WWF and instead broke his leg in WCW and had his career taken from him.
