Rainier was a life accomplishment for me. You just walk up it on a random day solely to ski down. Summit 300 feet off? Naaah, already been there. Haha. You guys are amazing!
Seriously. I went up to camp Muir once and I was in pretty decent shape. I failed on nutrition and took a picture of Muir when I was within camera range with the notion of turning around 😂. Ultimately Ended up making it to Muir but man was I hungry. Stayed in the hotel at paradise and ate a bunch of food.
Seriously. We went summer 2021 and didn’t think there would be snow up to paradise. Trained for half a year to do and got there to 30 feet of snow in the parking lot. Booted up all the way up paradise and bailed on Muir. Ate an entire pizza after and was still hungry. No idea how they do this lmao
@@mikemcintosh9933 agreed, I've hiked that to the meadows and even that piece is no easy task and that like maybe 1500 ft elevation where they started hitting snow...
One thing we as viewers don't realize is the effort to get the shots...Often have to retrace a bunch of steps to setup camera and get the approach shot. These guys are amazing.
I'm predominantly a hiker/backpacker. I've played around on some mountains. Done a few miles. But what I just saw was astonishing. And done so casually... You literally made that look effortless. Thanks for sharing!
This episode is so symbolic of life, the first 10 minutes is all the hard work and efforts to get to the success point in last couple minutes is the fun downhill ride
Sunday Mediocre. The Spirit was felt. Awe inspiring effort. Ski footage is always amazing, but especially nice in this vid. Thank you, as always, for sharing your inspiring adventures with us!!

When the skiing part started the music reminded me a bit of Fire and Ice by Willy Bogner (dating myself lol). Really cool shots and editing, and as a long time News AF listener/viewer was happy to find more of Danny's humour in these videos. :D Edit: Oh and forgot to say, proud of Danny for accepting the cheese and meat from another mans hand. ;)
There is nothing mediocre about climbing to the summit of Rainier (or just below the summit) in a day. Not many people do that. Thanks for the views; I'm glad to get them without doing any of the work.
Great stuff, nice to see Chase back again. He needs to slide his skis when going up hill. He lifts them which is not efficient. Danny has excellent technique in comparison.

I was in that park three days ago with my wife and three kids (7, 10, 12 so not a ton of hiking). As we were going up a moraine on the south side near paradise, I thought to myself, “seems like a good place for that guy Danny on Mediocre…”. Low and behold, this video is posted. Still here in PNW and watching this video. Good stuff.
I've never heard of Slowder, the slush and powder, but being a long-time skier of Washington snow I am familiar with the Glit, which is a fine mixture of glue and $hit.
I hiked that trail just past Comet Falls in May (pretty sure I parked in that exact spot). It's crazy to see how different it looks just a month and a half later!
You guys should hike Three Finger Lookout in Washington State Boulder Wilderness. Unfortunately, I didn’t make the full summit. I didn’t have an ice axe and crampons so I wisely turned back at Goat Flats. I will have to return someday to finish what I started. I made it about 33 miles and decided to turn back. I feel like you guys would love it and probably have zero problems. 👍🏼
funny when i moved to washington from utah my bros were like "john i can't believe you are moving away from here...thought you liked the mountains too much to leave"....and everytime i am in north cascades or rainier i think about that lol
Stayed the night at muir the other day and was just talking with some friends about this line! I don't think I could ever do it in a day, but it is on my list to explore some time! Great video. Have you ever thought about doing the Tatoosh Traverse? I highly recommend it if you want to get into some scrambling and minor rock climbing! Id happily lead all the trad routes for you if you ever wanted a camera man to join! haha
Everything on Tatoosh traverse is a scramble for Mediocre Amateurs. Danny jogs up and down stuff easier than the hardest pitch on this adventure. I would be interested to see how fast he could do it though. Did the TT in about 20 hours from Eagle to Unicorn and rode bikes back we had stashed ahead of time. Nearly killed me. These guys would probably do it in about 8 hours.
@@scottgriffith407 Yeah for sure! The only somewhat technical one is Unicorn. I have roped up on it every time, but the rest they would crush. I have not done it in one continuous go yet, but did Plummer to Unicorn and then walked the road back to reflection in about 4.5 hours. Hoping to do the whole thing, Eagle to Stevens this fall.

I've been a fan of this channel for a long time- you guys are part of what inspired me to get outdoors more often. With that said, I'm disappointed that you chose to just leave a rope in that glacier on the mountain.
