The evidence we have available for whether or not HM affects GO spawns is WILDLY inconclusive. There’s evidence that would say it increases spawn rates, there evidence that says it has no effect, and theres evidence that would say that it negatively affects the spawn rates of GOs. There simply is not enough data to make any sort of accurate guess without a severe amount of doubt being placed behind said guess. Now, should HM increase the spawn rate of any GOs? In my opinion, no. HM should only be capable of increasing your diamond spawns. Leave the GOs and rare furs out of it.

This hypothesis is based on information we have about what is perhaps the rarest trophy in game, which seems to be the male albino bobwhite quail. It purportedly has a 1 : 37,000 spawn rate, according to NexusMods.
I think each Great One species has a different spawn probability (example: GO Whitetail may spawn in 1 : 2000, GO Moose might be 1 : 5000, etc...)
When you use herd management, you compress the spawn rate on either end of size spectrum (low and high sizes). When you groom your need zones and fill many of them with your low-level animals, it forces higher animals to spawn in the open slots you create by shooting mid-high level animals. Because the code is written so that high and low level animal MUST be balanced, filling your zones with such low level animals tricks the algorithm into thinking super high level animals are needed for balance. So, as the RNG is working to refill these open slots, it randomly chooses high-scoring rack/fur combinations available in the code. This includes the Great One data pool.
If the spawn probability for a GO is less (using my moose example, 1 : 5000), then you will likely see it spawn less even with herd management as compared to a GO species with higher spawn probability (say, GO Whitetail as my example with a 1 : 2000 spawn rate). This would explain why it seems to work faster for some GOs and not all - BUT, you're always working against the RNG system so it will be as random as it can be... even with compressed spawn rates.
    Clear as mud? ^-^
Apologies for the novel. It is just a hypothesis. I leave it to peer review for your consideration.

So kinda like the Pokémon games? You can find shiny Pokemon if you keep playing but there’s ways to increase the chances, but it’s not required to get it, that’s what scared me at first, I believed that you had to do hm to get a GO but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I've noticed that animals that have solitary need zones can still be male/female managed to ease the grind later. Taking only females around lakes I like to use that are nice and open with good sight lines and going around to "bad lakes" taking only males regardless of size seems to help in getting almost exclusively males around my preferred lakes.
Then when I grind I only shoot males and only around the preferred lakes. Being able to take out 8 male Pumas in a single run around a lake really speeds it up!

Personal opinion, maybe herd management affects some animals more than others. Fallow deer and moose are a great example of this as there great ones come very quickly (in kills) but with other things like bears HM doesn't make them spawn a lot quicker. I think the GO spawn rate has something to do with the number of levels and the number of fur types of the animal, it explains why red deer and black bear seem to take more kills. Where moose and fallow only have 5 lvls. White tails would be the shortest grind with that theory, but they don't have as many fur variations so it kind of offsets it. Just my .02

I've been using HM since I started my red deer grind and I'm at 2300-2400 with 47 diamonds, 9 trolls, and 7 rares. No GO yet. So in my opinion it definitely doesn't work for Red Deer. But I'm still using it, just to try to fill my lodge with a lot of diamonds. The grind is extremely boring otherwise. But I'm starting to still get bored with it. In my opinion my 269.1 diamond looks more impressive than the GO. But I want to get it in memory of Grandfather

  • @maverik5167

The game will try and make it interesting so you don’t get bored, so what happens when you tightly HM your map is the game spawning bigger animals, the game will do this with any species. I think what happens is after you get a great one or a diamond, males will be smaller for a bit and then your spawns will gradually increase in size until it peaks and the process repeats

Great video, and congrats on the GOs! In my opinion HM has no affect on GOs. The way I look at it is that why would a system designed to help players that have small animals on their map, spawn the end game trophy? Also, remember when the GO WT was released, TK said that a GO was an upgraded version of a diamond. So going by that logic (if it's true), if GOs are affected then they would have the same increased spawn rate as a diamond has when using HM. Also I'm 1140 kills in doing pretty solid HM and still no GO.

  • @killerangel4160

I don’t know how much herd management matters but if you want diamonds and larger rares HM works well. I think w/ GO It’s random chance….my hubby got his GO White tail on Rav w/ herd management in 272 kills. It took us both about 2,000 kills to get our Red deer w/ Herd management and i just got my Fallow GO last one at 775 kills (not perfectly as I had trouble switching the big single zones with the smaller males in my herds so after a while I gave up) Im gonna stack the GO to see if I can get my second one quickly but it may or may not work or matter don’t know

How long does it generally take you to set up herd management for whitetail?

    • @Delilah_rdr
      @Delilah_rdr Год назад

This is just my opinion but setting up herd management for any animal is all different because it depends on how much you shoot maybe but my hm took around a week but that could be different for you
