  • Doctors Muse and Meyer discuss how functional rehabilitation is different from traditional rehabilitation in this video.
More often than not healthcare professionals address the site of pain. In the example of shoulder pain, exercises may be prescribed that aim to restore strength in the shoulder. The unfortunate thing is, often times the site of pain is not the area of dysfunction causing the experience of pain.
Functional rehabilitation aims to address the full body and how dysfunctional patterns in movement may lend to local dysfunction in an area. Rib function and core stabilization can play a role in shoulder pain, if these dysfunctions are not addressed then very often the individual may not find full resolution of their symptoms.
