- It's our second time speeding our way through the Ashlands and we see a killer segment 1, some new/refined strats and a 30-minute overall time improvement with only a little extra salt.
This is an edit to remove breaks for a slight increase in watchability.

Huge congrats on the new WR Thread! Those ML dungeons were insane, and man, the mental fortitude shown getting through the Ashlands fortresses (think I would have rage quit, deinstalled the game, sold my computer and moved off grid entirely at that point… 🤣🤣).

WOW!! Most impressive speed run I've seen by anyone. Truly impressed with your spear proficiency. Watched the whole thing and was amazed how little time you actually spent in Ashlands. The hardest biome yet you made it look simple even though you had a few deaths. Keep up the great work Thread. I learned a few strats that I will be sure to use in my regular playthrough. On a side note your storage skills could be improved upon....lol.

Not gonna lie, those Ashlands corpse runs were tough to watch, especially that first fortress. I know you've broken the record twice since, but congrats man. These runs are fantastic and I can't wait to see what else you do to bring the time down.

You’ve been living in a skelly tower again, nice! You’ve improved your setup a bit by placing your bed and other items higher up this time around! Also, you CAN live without bed stairs, this run proves that!
I enjoyed your in-depth discussion on player agency and RNG weapons in the Ashlands. You expressed the main problems with the Ashlands more clearly than I could have. I hope the devs realize this is an issue and find a way to do more about it than just reducing the number of enemies.
You’ve found more trolls in the first two hours than a social media comment section has on a bad day! Too bad they never were the kind you needed.
You were insanely unlucky with the elder rune, but insanely lucky with moder and the queen. Have you ever found a second queen’s lair? You fought Moder straight on, and this isn’t even a hardcore run!
Awesome strategy for the ashland fortresses. Your increased focus on gathering greydwarf eyes was hard to miss. At one point you had something like seventy in boxes but still wanted more. I was wondering the whole time what they would be for.
How about making Asksvin pants (if no Fenris pants)? You had enough Ask hide and Lox pelts. All that was missing was 15 flax which you could have easily -stolen- borrowed that from a goblin camp.
I loved the postgame analysis. Moder was indeed on the same mountain as in your NoPorts series! Zero doors closed all bosses run when?
Yeah, tower isn't so bad once I stretch out a little!
Glad you enjoyed, that was part of the salt that I was worried about, so somebody enjoying the bit about agency and randomness helps me feel validated.
Yeah, still waiting for the solid rng throughout but this one definitely had its moments.
I might try to go a little portal-lighter but essentially still use the same strategy to jump the the center tower, we'll see!
I should have looked up the recipe for the ask pants! I thought they were 10 linen and in a botched run I farmed 14, but it turns out they're 15! Definitely an idea worth thinking about.
Thanks for all the videos man, i love them ... All the flags in the fortress give 4 ashwood. And you can still pikaxe from under to enter the center.
Hey, thank YOU! Damn, 4?! That's insane, gonna use that, thought I'd only gotten 1 before. Swear I've tested the digging on this patch a few times with 100% failure rate but you're not the only one saying that so I'll check again
Tested, give 2 ashwood, I manage to make 28 from a fortress.

not sure how much ashwood is needed but you had 4 at some point and needed more, the flags/banners at fortresses drop 2 ashwood so u can get about 20 in a pinch (how much time that would save, if any, i have no clue)
I was just about to mention this, then found your comment. I think fortresses are the second-best source of ashwood with the best being the benches in the large ruins. Fortresses are a bit more reliable since you have to find them anyway and I reckon it's feasible to get all the ashwood you need from them.

Could it be quicker to simply repatriate the swamp base entirely to the original one after you get your first stone portal ? That looks like 3 encumbered portal trips or thereabout to remove way more later trips juggling the two sites ?
Also I'm amzed how on point all your combat is. It seems you ahve the perfect read on charred swordsmen now, I wouldn'' mind some explanation on how to read their attacks one of these days.
I believe it could be, absolutely. It also helps me keep my head on straighter. I switch to that method in upcoming runs, good thinking! :D
Thanks! I basically just parry the swordsmen twice, haha. I'm never sure if they're doing an attack or a feint but if you look closely when they do the feint you can see me quickly press and release block, then press block again when they actually launch their attack

Haha, about half of those noises I made were voluntary for comedy purposes. Bridge prolly woulda worked. Hopefully there's not a next time but next time I'll explore that

Looks that way, yup. Freeze frame shows a Skugg bolt coming in from the right. I think that was the major culprit.
you can put coal in one slot and have infinite spam insertion by pressing E and that slot, should be worth it

@@ThreadMenace you can fill eg. a smelter by putting the coal in slot 5 and pressing both E and 5 at the same time, I am pretty sure it is more than 2x faster
