  • With many of us now living longer, the question of how to maintain a good quality of life into old age is more pressing than ever. Now, a group of women from Barnet have joined forces in a radical social experiment to help each other to continue to live independently and avoid expensive care home fees. So could ‘co-housing’ be a way of tackling the elderly care crisis? We went to find out.

This is a great initiative. The social, support, and community side of this is brilliant.

It's a very good idea, men generally have a lower life expectancy and also tend to be the older partner in the relationship, which is likely what led to this being female focused.

I wish I could live here or something like it! At 72 the loneliness and even more so since the Pandemic has caused many health issues for me. I would love to be part of a community like this.

Could do with a modern day Peabody with the money and will to help create many of these types of schemes for older people especially for the not so rich. Just to get the idea established.

It's a great idea but how much does it cost per week? You pay extra for all the facilities including the garden.

We've had these in USA for, I know over 40 years, and they're a great idea, we use to take the kids to a couple different ones, when they was little, for Halloween and anyone that wanted to see or participate all came out to the dining area aka bingo area. And the people just love it, because some don't have family left or not living in the state. We would take the kids table to table, sort of like a trunk or treat

English people tend to not have close relationships with their relatives/cousins.
These OAP probably have cousin sisters and brothers, sisters and brothers family etc. They would've kept them company had they followed the tradition of having close ties with their extended family!

I hope the younger generation(the lesbians) learn from the older ones! you'll be lonely, you won't have kids! you'll never have a husband. Why? because, you listened to voice inside of you that told you that you're a lesbian.. Same goes out for the gays as well.
No one is created this way, but when we let our feeble mind guide our gullible self, we most times end up making bad decisions. You're not a lesbian! you're not a gay! Stand up today and say no to that devil in your mind! it's goal is to destroy you!
Only Christ can give you strength to overcome these evil whispers from the devil. that's where i found strength

What about men ? They need to fight to keep the women keen in their lives too. With so many things going on. How do you keep a relationship going ? Always work at it. Making her jealous or whatever.... Recognise when your partner is jealous and stop. Talk about it.
