that story about St Michael really touched me. I'm glad he shared it. I was just talking about the Chaplet of St. Michael to one of my friends and how he helped me one time when my husband left me and went to live on a farm/commune, and within a month of me finishing a novena, all the people on that farm moved, and the commune dissolved, and my husband decided to come home after that. (This was in 1990)

Welcome home. I am a cradle catholic. I can identify with the choir. I have learned a lot through praying in song and growing in knowledge through sacred music. Try listening to Gregorian chant and if you have the opportunity learn to sing it. You won’t regret it it. God bless you.
Thirsty for God. This is what he's experiencing. Our Lady of Sorrows will also help with this aspect of our faith where we feel we are going through a spiritual desert. One of the promises of reciting the seven sorrows chaplet is that she will reveal to you things hidden from others.
The devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows is spiritually fruitful. I hadn't heard that one of the promises is that "she will reveal to you things that are hidden from others." If I recall, she will reveal to you your sins that are hidden even from yourself. In other words, you may have forgotten certain sins that you need to confess, but she will dispense the grace of remembering those sins so that you can confess them. But she won't reveal hidden knowledge, so to speak. I'm just wondering what exactly you mean by "things that are hidden from others."
May the Lord draw you ever nearer to Himself, Sir. Our experiences are different, yet there are similarities. I believe it does go back to being baptized in the Catholic Faith. The Church teaches that it's an indelible mark, meaning it can never be removed for the rest of eternity once it's placed on your forehead. The Lord will draw the unbaptized as well, but I think He calls the baptized in a particular way. Having been baptized and then raised nominally Christian, as a Cafeteria Catholic, the Holy Spirit has to pour forth more grace in abundance to overcome that will l which separates the baptized from the world. The Sacrament of Confirmation itself offers more graces, so you're blessed by having been directed interiorly to present yourself for Confirmation.
