      Totally agree 😊 about finding this channel & hopefully will not wind up making a mess that'll be like confetti.... When you think it's all vacuumed up you find more! Think I'll line a slice tray with paper then felt on top to reduce the clumsy hand moments when I get time to try making some!🙂

    As a tip if you've not seen it before...you can put the shaker bits inside the shape then add a 2nd piece of acetate to seal it up then stick it to your actual card. It means you don't have to blindly try line up over top of the bits and also means they don't go everywhere like the sequins did.

      Carol-me to Carol, JD and a couple of others keep me going. Most of the time I can’t stay awake more than a couple of hours a day, and I just decided, to hell with housework. I couldn’t do it any way, but I kept thinking if I couldn’t take care of other things, what right did I have to play. Every right! And if I can’t play, I can watch these wonderful people doing the things I would be doing if I can. And JD, I love you lovely lady. You keep it real.(that’s the problem with the beauty and sports videos. All pretend.
      You are a saver JD. How nice that you can do what you love, and spread joy doing it. Sometimes I feel like you are a granddaughter, or a neighbor, inviting me over for coffee. How lovely is that.
      Ok, babble time over for now. It’s 7: am, I’m thinking it’s bedtime❣️🙏🏼

      @@claudettemiskell2763 Carol and Claudette, I am a chronic pain sufferer as well. I get frustrated on the days I am in too much pain to craft or do anything. I have a really bad painful neck that is screwed together. I just ordered a thingy that you put on top of your desk so you can work standing up. I hope it helps. I enjoy JD's videos, too, and other crafters as well.

    I started making cards about 6 months ago. I paint paintings, do clay work and decoupage but this is my new obsession, and I love it. (I work full time so this is just for fun). I am still learning...and doing ok. I am a VERY clumsy person. I watch a ton of tutorial videos to help walk me through everything. I always watch them, try to reproduce their perfection and sometimes it's a disaster. I get frustrated and live in the "why can't I do it like them" place some days. This is the first video I have watched of yours and I love you. I feel like I am not alone in the world of losing stuff that was literally in front of me, machine getting stuck and items getting strown around. Thank you for being REAL and being so funny. I needed it and I can't wait to do my shaker cards tonight. I will probably have sequins everything everywhere all at once - but it will be fun trying!! Now I am going to subscribe so I can see more of your videos. Thank you again and Keep it real. :)

Plus you laugh at your problems along the way. Which is also a good lesson in life. Don't get mad, laugh. Crafts happen! Lol love ya, you're great. Thank you.

    DELIGHTFUL CARDS, JD!! NO WAY can I choose a FAVE~~~they are ALL so darn cute for various reasons! LOVE the variety of “shaker window materials”~~~so fun, and unique! The tulle was really cool, and a “never-thought of” window piece for me....but I also loved the vellum, especially with the bottle! Thanks for the tips along the way, too, JD~~~like before shaking “too hard”, be sure the window frame is secure!! (Haha)...and to be ESPECIALLY CAREFUL w/seed beads! TFS n’ HAPPY STAMPIN n’ CREATIN’!

    Love your videos! To help you with peeling the backing paper of double sided tape, get yourself a very fine tip tweezer. It helps me a lot or use a pokey tool.

    • @sherrypolleyauthentic172
      @sherrypolleyauthentic172 5 лет назад +2

      You can also use another adhesive, to grab the backing from the adhesive foam/tape. For example, use a piece of packing tape. When I have lots of small adhesive backings to remove, i just double fold a piece of packing tape and stick it flat onto my glass desk. Then I just touch a corner of the backing I want to remove to it and it peals right off! Something to try, in the right circumstances.

    Wow, thank you so much for showing us how to make so many different types of shaker cards all in one short video! I've become obsessed with making shaker cards and really wanted to try different methods, so I will try out all of these. When I make gift card holders for Christmas, I aways try to make ones that can be used as tree ornaments, so your removable shaker idea will be perfect. I also really like the card with the shaker on the inside of the card. You explained how to make all of the cards very well and gave some tips with the pros and cons of each type.

Just a thought- after you have created the well with the foam tape, it might be easier to put your shaker bits in there. They can’t run away from you then & it could also make it easier to line up too... just thinking

    I recently found your You Tube Channel and just love your attitude and presentation. I just cracked up when you said Jennifer McGuire doesn't have this tape problem. All the cards are great, I think I like the Margarita one the best - the ice cubes are hysterical. One little tip I found from someone else on the internet was to cut shape outlines out of fun foam rather than try and run tape around an opening. I did it, it works pretty good. Another trick I used was to drop the shaker materials into the clear side (or into the shaker itself) and then put the back , or just a small piece of paper to cover the opening. This helps to keep the shaker material confined to where it should be in the first place.

This is the way that most of us make cards - trouble peeling off the backing tape, etc. In addition I drop everything and spend a lot of time on the floor looking for tiny dies or card bits. I do really enjoy your channel. You are so relatable, friendly, and genuine. Just a tip I saw on Gerry’s Craft. She only pulls a bit of the double sided backing off of each tape and bends it to the outside. Then positions her piece. Once positioned, she pulls the tape backing the rest of the way off. I cannot for the life of me pull all the backing off then position it squarely. Subscribed.
