I'm watching a previously watched video just so I can see your beautiful face and feel you upbeat vibes. Although I miss your videos, I hope you are happy and living your best life. Just wanted you to know that your presence hasn't gone unnoticed. Have an awesome day =)
You are wonderful! Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks. But most of all, thank you for staying on task and not wasting time by talking about what your cats/dogs did or your favorite place to eat. I mean I wouldn't mind watching those kind of videos but when I'm wanting to learn, I want to learn. LOL. I've tried to watch some popular people's videos, but they're WAY long and there's only, for instance, 10 minutes of actual learning time in a 40 minute video. Yet here I am rambling on. Thank you and LOVE your videos. Especially loved the "bloopers" at the beginning. Maybe you should post a bloopers video, just for laughs.
I'm brand new to papercrafting and I have to say: your channel is one of the very few I can tolerate. You have a sweet, conversational style and never take yourself too seriously. Your videos are both informative and entertaining. I know this is an "old" one, but I especially liked it.
This is one of my favorite videos! While these “bloopers” may make you cringe, they only make me like you more, and love your personality! Where would I be without knowing about the “tittle”? Thank you J.D. for all of your time and effort in producing these videos! Susan S. Thompson
popsickle sticks and toothpicks as well as little condiment cups with lids (sold at Walmart by the napkins and paper plates) I have used these for mixing paints, glitters, water down glues, pour gems or sequins in the little cups.... I'm never without these things, along with EVERYTHING you recommended.
“...glitter in the meatloaf.” LOL. Another classic memorable line. You are so funny. It adds a really nice, fun touch to tutorial videos about on paper crafting. Thanks for feeling free to show us yourself in these videos. You’re funny and charming, which are two of my favorite personality combinations.
If you have some hanging around, you can use cheap UV nail gel to add colour or gloss too. No waiting because you put it under the lamp after. Just make sure to choose one without a sticky layer.
createinspain : I knew there was a reason for hanging on to my UV polish and lamp even though I haven't used it for my nails in ages. Thanks for the idea!💅💡
Before I got some glossy accents, I have used clear nail polish. I put several coats on my cut outs,it gives dimension too, the more coats you do. Little more work. But it's worth it. Love the "web" idea to cut dies. I've bought several bead style containers with dividers , cut out a bunch of different images so I have them when I need them. Especially flower, leaves, words. Etc. Thanks for sharing.
I recently discovered your channel and am really enjoying it! I have gone back and watched some of your earlier videos. I’m still laughing at your pop-up cards video. “Fat shaming my tape” for being too wide was so funny. Also when you never thought the sentence “Snipping up into the teddy bears arm pits” would ever be said. Love your observations and sense of humor.
LOVE the acetate tip for shine. Thanks Tip: I use my powder tool on my intricate dies before cutting to make it easier to remove the diecuts from the dies.
That web is BRILLIANT! My tip is simple. When you are cutting and embossing with a die, I keep seeing cutting first. Tape your die down. Emboss first, the tape remains in place and then you cut without it moving.
Great tips and so helpful to actually see the process! If someone hasn't already mentioned, for the glitter die cut, you can use the release paper over it to press the glitter. Thanks!!😁
A hack I love is to fold a couple dryer sheets aplace it under your die before you fun it through and all the tiny little bits sticks to the dryer sheet! No more poking the tiny pieces out!
JD, I just found your channel and everything you talked about in the beginning was me. I got a vagabond and about the 3rd attempt I got a die stuck and I could not get it out, when I did it cut into a cutting tray and now I have a permanent bow in the cutting tray and have to skip that area or it shows up in the dies I run through. Thank you for your honest talk, your ideas and showing how to use the products really helps. Have a good day. Chris
My goodness what a ton of tricks to try - you are THE best at giving us different ways of doing something. Thanks ever so much, love watching your videos.
JD, I enjoy your videos. They are so fun and you pack so much information in! Part of the fun of crafting is learning new techniques and trying them. (I like the messy ones, too!)
I have been just making journals but had it in the back of my mind filed away that card making was on my list of learn to do's!! I love these die hack ideas. I will be watching more to get psyched up for making cards!!
Thank you JD, I loved the bloopers (which is what we all have done) and my favourite tip is the acetate over the die. Lots of ideas to try. I really thank you for all your time in creating all your videos.
Very interesting. There were a few there that I'd never thought about. One hack I have is for using with intricate dies. I don't have a metal shim, which apparently helps you get clean cuts and get all the pieces out when you've finished. But I've found that if I put some grease proof (baking) paper between the cardstock or paper and the die it really helps. It cuts out at the same time (so you get an extra die cut image if you want) but, more importantly, it is so easy to get everything out of the die. This has helped me so many times when I'd otherwise be stuck there for ever trying to poke out every little bit of paper. Thanks for shaing.
I have attached an adhesive magnetic sheet to the side of an organizer I have on my table. The die cuts stick to the magnet until I put them away in their spots. No losses after I pop out those tiddles!
Hi JD! Great tips, and here are 2 of mine. 1 - we recycle plastic grocery bags but the ones with the holes in them go in my craft room. I cut them into smaller pieces and they make great release papers when placed between the die and card stock. Then I use a pokey tool or an eraser to start the peel from the card stock. 2 - used dryer sheets are great for sweeping those little bits of paper from my cutting plates because static electricity really makes them cling.
I appreciate that you cover a topic in a number of different ways. You put a lot of thought into your videos. Thank you for all your work. I always feel I know enough about the topic to approach my task confidently. Sometimes I curse later... but I think I know what I'm doing when I start.
A piece of handy info: when doing several layers of clear embossing powder, after the first layer, don't re-ink between embossing. If you add the embossing powder while your die cut/shape is still hot, it will stick to it. Not only does it save ink, but constantly re-inking can leave your shape cloudy, esp if it is a light colour. I think it looks better this way. Hope that helps!
I LOVE that you speed through the video and do a voice overlay so you don’t have to make small talk while making the die cuts etc. Why make a 30 min video when you can say everything you need to in 10?! Ain’t nobody got time for that! I love your emojis too! So funny!
Oh, my goodness! I loved the intro showing some of your struggles -- we all know the struggle is real! LOL! Hey, JD, this video is the first time I've seen you and I think every.single.thing you shared was helpful to me! I haven't done a lot with my electronic die cutting machine(s): Gemini Jr. and Cricut Explore Air, but hope to use them more in the coming months. I have tons of supplies from the 90's (seriously) and never even use my rubber stamps, embossing powders, and inks. After watching your video, I got SO EXCITED and INSPIRED to try some of your techniques with the die pieces! I never even thought of embellishing them in this way! Thank you SO much for sharing your experiences and compiling these hacks-- you have a new fan in me!
JD, your compilation of crafty hacks rock as usual. You included my favorite; I simply ink my paper and then die cut the image, after the paper dries. TFS!😘✨😘
Being a total newby to the die cut world, I really appreciate any and all ideas. I'm waiting for the arrival of my Sizzix Big Shot and studying all it's different uses.
It's great watching your channel grow! I found you on Pinterest about a year ago and was so excited, I just knew you would blossom on here!!! God bless you!
I haven't used my big shot much as i honestly thought i was doing it wrong but now i have seen you having the same problem i feel more confidence to use it! Thanks for showing the first bit!
An other idea for the clear coating: depending on the thikness of your paper and your die and your machine (not all papers are working with all types of dies and not all machines are powerfull enough in pressure), laminating (lamination pouches also vary in thinkness) the paper first and then die cut. Could also give you a shine and some sturdiness.
Great hacks, thanks for sharing. Here's a tip for embossing power storage, I use manila envelopes for colors I use often, labeling the folder with the color on the tab, seal one side, the fold the other open side diagonally, when ready to use, fold the diagonal side over, to use, then use a paper clip or tape to come back and place back in storage.
JD, you offer some of the most practical tips for stamping! Thank you for creating this one. Loved the bloopers in the beginning...just gotta laugh at yourself sometimes, right?!
As far as my favorite things here that you've shown i love the faux embossed look, the one that you lined letters up with a ruler then taped them, the tape roller to clean up and also remove extra "tittles", ok just mostly all of your tips are great! Tfs.
I'm watching a previously watched video just so I can see your beautiful face and feel you upbeat vibes. Although I miss your videos, I hope you are happy and living your best life. Just wanted you to know that your presence hasn't gone unnoticed. Have an awesome day =)

I love of you keep your unintended features in the videos. Showing how to correct it or to live with it. Thank you for being keeping so real.
Yeah. Even if I forget to use a gem, I think people will recognize an 'i', even with a dot.😏
This is one of my favorite videos! While these “bloopers” may make you cringe, they only make me like you more, and love your personality! Where would I be without knowing about the “tittle”? Thank you J.D. for all of your time and effort in producing these videos!

Using a die cut of clear acrylic to add shine was new to me. What a great idea!
Yes! Perhaps laminating would work too!
Very useful tips here. I just need more time to craft!
Great hacks!!
