Why Trading Alexander Holtz Makes NO SENSE (And Why He'll Thrive In Vegas)

  • Alexander Holtz and Akira Schmid have been traded from the New Jersey Devils to the Vegas Golden Knights for Paul Cotter and a 2025 3rd round draft pick. This has left many Devils fans upset, because the addition of Holtz in this deal means losing a young and incredibly talented scoring winger who had promise to take a leap under the new head coach Sheldon Keefe. In today’s video, I want to highlight the shortsightedness of this trade and unpack why moving on from Holtz this early could be such a mistake for New Jersey and why I believe he will break out in Vegas.

So i love the video bro, i disagree with the bad assest management part. Holtz will be great is this league no doubt. But, the devils are currently stacked with high power offensive players and most importantly high elite defenseman (luke hughes and simon nemec) who are still on their elc's. Unfortunately holtz didnt sprout as fast as they wanted but Mercer who was picked the same draft class as him did and with the tinelime ofnthe Devils Mercer is more important due to his grit as seen in the 22/23 season. I as was every devils fan shocked by the trade and i do agree that it has a higher possibility of it being in Vegas favor in the long run. But the reality is we didnt need Holtz to win, we needed to be more gritty and heavier and holtz doesnt offer that at all. Gotter and him have similar points as it is but Gotter is something the devils need not want. But again bro great video overall because you shined a light on things regarding Holtz that will be factors in the future.

Great video man. The holtz haters are gonna feel pretty dumb when he's scoring like crazy for Vegas. He hasn't even hit his prime yet.it was too soon to trade him. At least give him a chance to increase his trade value. Horrible asset management.

Imo I think this trade is gonna end horribly for the Devils by trading Alexander Holtz; I think Holtz could potentially find his potential with the Golden Knight and he's still young and tons of move to grow

Holtz has an NHL shot. Unfortunately he can't skate so it doesn't really matter. Devs gave him every opportunity to improve that part of his game and it never happened. good luck to him but in the modern NHL there's no room for skill players that can't keep up
