Stumbled across this after Google teased a new pair of smart glasses. I remember wanting to try out Google Glass, but it was, as you said, first the price tag and second the way they looked. It couldn't have been really mass market with the price, so it never looked mainstream. Also, if they want people to want to wear it, that flat line/frame across the face was a killer. It just looked to silly. That said, with what was teased with Project Astra, it could be a really compelling product. It's too bad that, these days, Google kills things off so quickly that it's hard to want to invest in any of their hardware. I think people would be more accepting of the camera today, especially if there was a clear recording light.
If it were a compelling format like the Ray Ban Metas or, even better, the Intel Vaunt, I think that today's AI implementation would make me pull the trigger.
