And in case you were wondering, our channel title "89 Days Away" refers to the typical 90-day visitor limit for staying in a country or area (such as the EU Schengen Zone) before having to become an official resident.
We try to maintain a lean, scaled back lifestyle in the US, and spend around 1/2 of our year living overseas as "slow travelers", within those time limits, to get the overall expat experience without having to become a full time resident of the foreign country.
Our channel started out talking about that lifestyle, but has morphed into other topics related to this stage of life that we find interesting.
We hope that you find the topics interesting as well.

Thank you for bringing this up! When you see those, you wonder if they’re having vacation and having fun or into some weird ritual getting in everyone’s face (quite literally) ruining others’ enjoyment too. Many quite literally push you out (locals or anyone) and go in front of you for a half hour hour (or more) staged shoot with some photographer/videographer for 100 fake shots and videos (some of them don’t even seem to be vloggers, just for some insta shots! It’s become an everyday occurrence everywhere!). Channels like these are at least sharing useful info with some tidbits of footage or snaps here and there… which is plenty (as things used to be). Wonder if it ever stops being a trend?

The great thing about a lot of these photogenic destinations is that you can point the camera in pretty much any direction and get amazing footage. So it is unlikely to stop. But on the plus side, you get to see some cool footage of the destination.

@@89daysaway well, imo, a peaceful place might be better off than having access to more footage of the same… how many can one watch? as you said, RUclips is saturated with tons of footage of any place on earth one can think of! local or faraway, exotic… even a local park with redwoods or wildflowers in bloom, nothing is enjoyable without an elaborate photoshoot going on! Believe it or not! I come across these every day even if I try to time it at different times to just have a peaceful walk!

Me and my wife were enjoying a sunset and watching a RUclips couple trying to get the perfect sunset in their camera, and they were fighting about the perfect shot but yet missing the sunset.

Our channel is in the travel category and a lot of what you pointed out is true. Luckily we don’t travel full time and create videos to document our travels for our family and friends but it is a lot of work.

We’ve been doing some travel videos and the biggest problem that I see is I don’t want to sacrifice my experience of a great location for a video production task. Last thing I want to do is pull out the camera and start planning out shots for a RUclips video. Glad it’s working out for you.

We have a rule where we set aside filming time, then put the camera away and have fun.
We may not have much of an audience, but it has got us out of the house. Plus, met more people who love travel too. No regrets ❤

That sounds like a good rule. For us, when we get out someplace that is really scenic and enjoyable, the last thing we wanna do is pull out a camera to capture any systematic video. General B roll type video is fine, but the more staged stuff Interferes with our enjoyment of the place

@@89daysaway luckily I don't have skills and am all about that B roll. 😅
