Just a wee note for those asking about the guitar tuning.I'm in Dropped D tuning on this tune (DADGBE with a capo on the 1st fret to bring it up to the E flat banjo tuning.) I think that Double Dropped D is the tuning that Steve Cooney uses a lot of the time but I'd say check that with him. (I know that he'll be teaching in the Belfast Tradfest over the summer.)

@@EricOwensFlute in sessions i think dadgad is more common but i've seen both used often. John doyle uses drop d and there are some clips where seamie uses dadgad. honestly it's purely preference. one thing's for sure many people hate standard in trad lmfao

Saw Cathal play a few years ago in London, Barbican i think, and overheard him at the bar say this would be the first time he'd played fiddle for ages...of course he went on to play some of the best fiddle you've ever heard ! Total master

Seamie is in Double Dropped D with capo on first and Cathal has banjo tuned semitone higher than concert pitch which allows him to play along without capo on first IMO.

    pourquoi plus personne ne danse?
why nobody dance anymore... even when musicians play standard trad. folk dancing songs?
we have to learn the dance. folkmusic is dead if not.
how boring it may be for Cathal and others performing for "immobile" people!
we have to learn how to enjoy charing the pleasure: musicians playing, workers dancing; men and wemen.

It’s a bit crowded in bars and the fleadh TV sets are fairly tight and are packed so you don’t want to be dancing about and tripping over others and making it harder work for those on the cameras

I actually loved the vibe of the crowd and how they cheered each time it got to that refrain. Also lovely to see young and old all coming together like that. Folk music seems very much alive, to the contrary.
