i was reading an article the other day about how tall, handsome men are more likely to be seen as highly desirable partners regardless of concerning behavior; essentially the hotter you are the more likely your partners are to let you get away with weird stuff or ignore red flags. He is 6’5” and *objectively* very handsome, I’m sure that people have dismissed his oddities solely based on that. But if you watch interviews he’s stilted and insincere. But the more I researched it, the more it was apparent that intrusive thoughts involve things that are ego-dystonic -- they make you uncomfortable, you don't identify with them, etc. When I think about cannibalistic things, it just makes me really happy. I'm a recluse. Life is a lot more peaceful and less stressful, but you have to WANT IT. Fifteen years ago, deep down I didn't want it but I tried to be a recluse anyway. I damn near lost my mind from the isolation and loneliness; laughing randomly at nothing, as well as talking to myself. But now, as I'm older, I'm able to handle it perfectly and the solitude has improved my life and mental health. The lifestyle is a good one, but it has its risks for the unprepared.

Love the new background! Thank you for posting this. I have struggled with what I would have termed intrusive thoughts in the past involving cannibalistic fantasy. But the more I researched it, the more it was apparent that intrusive thoughts involve things that are ego-dystonic -- they make you uncomfortable, you don't identify with them, etc.
When I think about cannibalistic things, it just makes me really happy. It's not always sexual, but it can definitely go down that road. I look at people and I feel a little anxious, because I have those thoughts in the back of my head, like they're food or something. It makes it hard to relate sometimes and it's given me a serious case of imposter syndrome. BUT! It's actually really comforting to know that there's a name for this and that most people don't act on it. If there was one thing that *did* end up becoming an intrusive thought, it's that I thought I was going to become a serial killer, like Jeffrey Dahmer.
Anyway, maybe a bit TMI, but just wanted to add something to the conversation in case anyone was wondering what it was like to have this paraphilia.
