  • The Alder Tree (Fearn) : A Bridge Between Worlds
    On the Mythology, Symbolism and Magic of the Alder Tree and it's association in the Ogham sometimes known as the 'Celtic Tree Alphabet'.
    The Alder has historically been associated with the element of water, also with fire. A tree of balance, protection and communion with the Spirit World.
    In the Ogham Kennings the Alder is associated with the Warrior.
    In the Battle of the Trees, from the Book of Tasliesin, the Alder is the first into battle.
    In Welsh Mythology the Alder has ben associated with Bran the Blessed from the Mabinogion and the Cauldron of Rebirth.
    The Alder has a range of uses historical and modern, from making Iron Age spears and shields, to clogs and milk vessels, to bridges, neolithic causeways and flutes.
    The tree has many associations in Paganism, Magic and Druidry, often to do with proitection, balance and contacting the realm of the dead or otherworld.
