The real problem isn't reservations. It’s that our country doesn't have enough opportunities for bright students in general. Take NEET as an example: in 2023, over 2.1 million students competed for just 120,000 MBBS seats. That's less than 6% of applicants getting in. Even if reservations didn't exist, the majority of students (from all categories) would still miss out. What we really need is more seats, better colleges, and accessible resources for everyone because removing reservations won't magically solve the problem. Reservations aren't about unfair advantages, the literacy rate for SCs is 66.1% and for STs it's 58.4%, compared to 82.2% for upper castes. Without reservations, these inequalities would only deepen. I know it can feel frustrating when someone with a lower score gets in, but we have to consider the systemic hurdles marginalized students face. Most NEET qualifiers (over 85%) come from private coaching institutes, which many SC/ST students simply can't afford. And even with reservations, they make up less than 15% of students in top institutions like ITs and AllMS, despite having a 22.5% quota. That tells you how much harder they have to fight to even get there. Rather than targeting reservations, we should push for real solutions: more seats, better colleges, and equal access to resources. Blaming marginalized groups for a broken system only distracts from the real problem.
@@dontmisimi you can't just assume that many of us (upper caste) come from private coaching institutes. And what about fees?? Reservation is not a problem there it seems?? We have to literally pay 7-8 lakhs upfront and lower caste can get admitted into top universities with a lower score and paying in what 1000 rupees? These entrance exams are there because of the Indian mass population. More than 65% of the population is st/sc if you are so poor why do these people have so many kids if they can't afford kids. Look at China the Gaokao exam is the most difficult in the world and there are no reservations That's why China's economy is going to cross the USA in some estimated years. I really appreciate how you said we need more resources as the entire Indian education system is rigid.. but again you were saying how it's difficult for them to get into colleges l mean yes it is but our (upper caste) chances are even less than 1%???

This video is highly researched, and I truly appreciate the effort that you put into studying and presenting information about casteism and reservations in such a thoughtful manner. As someone from an oppressed class, I feel proud to see someone tackling this important issue especially that someone is from the ‘lower class’. Blatant hate and caste discrimination on social media is so very real. I even stopped using Instagram and Reddit for the same reason. Interestingly, the same people who do this discrimination usually cry out on the internet when they see racist posts or videos against Indians. Thank you for making this video, and please keep up the great work!

Its not casteist bruh u get it when u graduate gurukul and then u turn into you own man right then u go and beg for money so yk to get your shit together while u find work. Even karna who was well lower intercasteguy studied with dronacharya didn't do the begging part tho cuz he was training to be a Soldier n shi. Im disappointed in my sc/st folks over here 😔.
I am a Rajput, most of my close friends are Brahmins and Rajputs. This was sheer coincidence, we became friends first and asked each other's castes like years later. A friend of ours, a very studious one at that, achieved almost 100% in all the exams he tried, be it competitive or school exams. Later I got to know he's from a lower caste, but the man wanted to prove himself and he did. That he got in on merit 100%, no special treatment, Really surprised me that he was driven to prove himself so bad, can't imagine the remarks he had heard. Not from us, anyway. Still a close friend to this day.
I wish I was like him. I also want prove that I can do it without any advantage. I can understand concepts but I am not able to score. Thankfully my friends do not talk about caste and sh*t at least in front of me. I am studying in good school so that can be a reason. I am really grate full that I got supportive parents specially my father who is professor. As long as I don't talk about my caste everything will go smooth. Right now no one has insulted me on basis of caste and I hope it continues this way and work hard like my upper caste friends (this is first time I have yapped about my caste in internet because of your video).
It takes courage for a 20 something to talk about her caste openly, especially when media stays mum and parents tell you keep your mouth shut about it forever. We need more people like you who wear their caste as a badge of honor. In my opinion, this video is more relatable than an upper class Brahmin lecturing people about casteism.

Soft casteism 😢 - I want to share something that happened two years ago when I was preparing for NEET. I was staying with two roommates who were from upper castes. My surname is unique in the sense that no one can tell from it that I belong to a lower caste. One day, one of my friends found out my caste from the caste section on my NEET application form. He said, “Bro, you’re from a lower caste? We didn’t know that. Then they said bro This caste type thing used to happen in the past; we don’t believe in caste anymore. But yeah, my grandparents still follow it. They say people from your caste work in our fields, but they don’t enter our home. Even for drinking water, we pour it from above. But we’re educated now, and we don’t do such things. Only my grandparents did this” (I come from a good family, was preparing for NEET, and was living with them in the same room, sharing the same status. Yet, I felt so embarrassed and inferior just because of the words they used to remind me that I’m ‘lower’ and they are ‘superior.’) Then they added, “Bro, we eat with you, we eat food prepared by you, we don’t practice casteism. But if my grandmother knew I ate with you, she would definitely scold me. words made me feel like they were doing me a favor by eating with me. This is what soft casteism looks like. That day, I realized how words can be more dangerous than swords. Later, I sat alone and cried. I thought about my ancestors and how much they must have endured. I thanked Ambedkar Ji for his contribution and for giving us the strength to stand up today.

Maybe , just maybe. People are sick of reservations. When british left apart from landlords, everyone was POOR. Also, study how British actually imposed caste on Indians, no conversation on that!!. When poor so called Upper caste, do not get seats because of their so-called "privilege" casteism, in fact, INCREASES. They are reminded that they did not get seats due to their caste!. Isn't this reverse casteism?! Also, Casteism in india is not as simple as upper caste or lower caste. 80% of the caste atrocities recorded are from people in the same CASTE. In fact, SC/ST on SC/ST crimes are recorded the most. Honestly, your video comes as virtue signaling. If entire life you see others getting privilege based on their caste, there is going to be bitterness. So instead of demanding constant representation in every area just because of your "caste." Maybe for godsake , start demanding MERIT RESERVATIONS. Open category asked for 90% & SC/ST for 50% is really unfair. So instead of that ,can we atleast have mertious reservations? If Open is at 91%, SC/ST should be 90% minimum. Instead of dismissing genuine complaints as "casteism," LISTEN to them. Listen to their genuine complaints. Open category losing seats because of their caste is casteism. If you want representation, it should be on merit. If it was on merit, people would have not be disgrunted by this. Heck, we didn’t even know what our caste was until the admissions came in!! Constantly asking for caste during school/college, reinforces caste. Honeslty, i am quite disgusted by this privileged gaslighting you are doing in the video. It still sounds so privileged to us. No wonder there is bitterness. Let's not forget 70% fake cases on upper castes done under SC/ST act. Let's not forget 90% of crimes on dalit are by other lower castes . Facts that no one will talk about 👆. Your struggles" give me a break. We lose seats with 90%
Your courage to speak up about caste discrimination is truly inspiring. You are a beacon of hope for so many who face similar challenges but feel unheard. Keep it up damsel
Casteism is deeply rooted in indian culture and history but over the years it's meaning has been morphed to support the narratives of political campaigns and for creating an illusion of superiority over the others. There are a lot of minorities who still need the reservation as a means of economic upliftment but the general public need a deeper level of understanding of the same. Kudos to you for discussing this matter
Most caste-politics are about freebies, though? The majority of India isn't upper caste, and the majority isn't as educated or financially well off. There have been systemic problems for centuries, but appealing to vote banks with freebies is a slippery slope. The most caste-superiority politics is done by OBC jaats, ironically.

@aniket.l.4833 all this because of reservation? Right? What about those you worked harder than you and didn't get to do what you did because of reservation? Only fair reservation is EWS one
As a privileged person who is from ST, I have seen people criticize me for getting benefits of reservation even though I belong to a pretty well to do household. And honestly, they are right in that feeling that this is unjust because i dont need those reservations. However, the hypocrisy starts when I see those very people say things that are so discriminatory. I scored 97% in my 10th boards and have been good academically. One day a friend of mine (who didnt know yet that I wasn't from gen) was talking bout how people from ST and SC are so laid back and dont bother studying and how they are so disgusting living in villages and getting married at 15 (this is a just a part of the many things she said)and then she had the audacity to tell me that "oh you're good at studies because youre from general na?" And i was so miffed at how they were talking that i couldnt even tell them I was from ST because they would have ditched me then and there(Mind you, this same friend was always one of the low graders that barely passed and she was from gen so idk maybe she forgot about the term "potential"). So yeah, people say they dont want reservation because discrimination no longer persists and the same ones do shi like this. They need to understand that discrimination isnt always in stuff like not letting people sit next to them and other things but also in the little things they do. Get rid of your discriminatory mindset first then talk bout getting rid of reservations
Can't agree more, I have seen majority of these general hypocrites(not all) who have this type of mindset are actually losers, barely manage to pass and score average grades. They exaggerate so much to a certain level that they blame the reservation system. People have the tendency to complain a lot than finding solution . I have never seen successful candidates complain, because they know complaining won't help. Yes indeed I understand this can be frustrating for general people when they see stable SC/ST people make it through unfair advantage. Me being from SC/ST also fall under this bracket. Instead of complaining we should reduce the cap of reservation for privileged SC/ST people and at the same time caste discrimination should be observed in rural areas where it's peak still after 75 years.
Jyada woke na ban... don't say you are privileged so you don't need reservations...Your money won't matter when they'll give you less marks than general category and kick you out from many jobs just because you're SC. They don't give a shit about your privilege.

@@AmanKTiwarii The fee difference exists because reservation policies aim to make opportunities more accessible for marginalized communities, including financially and socially disadvantaged SC applicants. Historically, Scheduled Castes faced severe discrimination, and many couldn’t access quality education or employment. Lower fees are one way to reduce barriers for them, considering the systemic inequalities they still face. That said, I understand your frustration about fairness. The implementation of reservation policies has been inconsistent for decades. While the system was introduced in 1950, it didn’t fully start uplifting marginalized communities until much later. For example, it was only in the 1980s and 1990s, after the Mandal Commission recommendations were implemented, that the focus on reservations for OBCs and more active measures for SC/ST communities began showing results. Even then, progress was slow and uneven. In recent years, say from the 2000s onwards, you can see more visible changes. Government initiatives like scholarships, financial support, and targeted programs have finally started to help these communities access better education and jobs. The difference in fees, while it might seem unfair, is part of this broader push to level the playing field for groups that were kept out of the system for so long.

People who can afford education don't deserve reservation irrespective of their caste. I am a teacher and i have never discriminated against any of my students. After watching the situation on caste system, i have observed that even people in SC,ST etc. discriminate against each other too, depending on their subcastes. So the best possible solution to provide opportunities to backward castes is by not allowing rich families in backward castes to use reservation priviledges so that people who actually need it can progress.
This is so my experience. I am sc with a changed surname and preparing for NEET. My friends on the other hand have no idea about my caste and I often hear them passing casteist remarks and stating how unfortunate they are to be born in an upper caste family. It used to break my heart and I always thought that I'll be taking something away from them if I get selected and they didn't. I discussed it with my father as well and all though he is a DSP yet he faces discrimination from his seniors and folks and he told me to take up every opportunity that I get to make my career. I know that I'll never be able to tell my friends about my caste because of my fear of judgement and discrimination. Edit: Let me adress a few things here for people who don't understand my point. Even if reservation is removed, 98% of you general caste peeps still won't get a government college but I yet don't see enough people holding the government accountable. Although I do understand student's frustration but removing reservation will still keep you frustrated plus you'll have no one to bash when you don't get selected. You're never truly gonna understand caste based discrimination until you are someone from a marginalized category. Having financial success does not mean a person is entirely free from caste-based discrimination. Like I mentioned my father facing discrimination, my uncle's office colleagues not wanting to eat at his house, my cousin sister who wanted to be identified as who she is but latter changed her surname because of the bullying in school are just few examples of discrimination amongst the so called "creamy layered" society. And don't even get me started about 'ch*mar' being an offensive swear word thrown around by people just so casually as if it's not someones literal caste. If it wasn't for reservation I would wouldn't even be able to speak up in front of upper caste people. Not being able to open up about my caste to my friends was less about NEET and more about the fear of being looked down upon and social segregation. Many of you might argue that you'll never discriminate but I can't help but notice caste being mentioned everywhere, from nasty but huge influencers like Rajat Dalal to Instagram bio mentioning "proud kshatriya". Don't get me wrong it's great that you're proud of who you are but then why are you making me feel so inferior that my only way out is to change my identity. I hope that I made myself clear and if you just wanna talk about reservation and never caste discrimination then you can cry about it forever. Even foreigners see and sometimes even mock India for it's rigid caste system (like pewdiepie) but Indians are still either participating in it or just being downright ignorant. If you're still pissed about NEET then hate the game, not the player.
i understand and i was warned against the same because people have such fixed mentalities but it will reveal a lot about “friends” around you. people who know you will know how capable you are, they will respect you beyond stupid things like caste. you don’t need to justify and tell them a sob story about your family’s experiences for them to have basic empathy towards you. be proud of what you are and thats how things will change. it’s the least we can do for the people who have suffered before us and are still suffering.
understand their situation too, you're talking about NEET, which is hell for general category peeps, even 650+ isn't enough nowadays, whereas for SC/ST peeps, even 400 is enough to get in. now obviously, the cutoffs are low because most SC/ST peeps are not in good conditions, but yes, the ones which are, get an unfair advantage, which the general students are frustrated about. i understand this problem very well, by changing surnames, you may avoid some of the remarks you may get, but on the other hand, that leaves no meaning to the "reservation is for representation" agenda, if you can't stand for yourself. all in all, our country has flaws, nothing can be done. edit: (just so y'all know, i'm a general category male)
so many capable students shouldn’t be fighting over a mere number of seats to begin with. it’s not the fault of SC/ST students but the lack of accessible higher education and infrastructure in general. the pressure should be on the government to create more opportunities instead of hating on lower caste students who are literally changing their surnames and identities to not face discrimination. general category students often benefit from cultural capital, access to better guidance, mentorship, and preparatory resources that SC/ST students typically lack. this unseen advantage is rarely acknowledged in such discussions.
ur father is a dsp which means reservation has served its purpose and no way in hell should u be given reservation....but here we are.....u justifying reservation cuz u hear some of the boys in ur class saying 'xyz' truth is no amount of reservation will be of anyuse to you till u suffer from this debilitating case of lack of confidence. Know that even if u end up becoming a doctor cuz of reservation it will always be cuz of reservation and u will never be as good as the general candidates who worked hard and got the seat despite leaches like you

So u want reservation in bollywood?? 😂 Think before what u are saying. We are living in 21th century,I don't support Casteism but that girl is saying one sided story and promoting bullshit agenda..
Casteism on the Indian internet at least wasn't as common in the early days (i.e. 2019 and before) The democratization of the internet brought the most regressive illiterate people online.
Fr, been using internet since MTNL days and Indian internet communities weren't this toxic. Jio revolution should've never happened. No wonder why we get cooked so bad in the rest of the world
@cocaa_colaaa you're right, a lot of Instagram comments are predatory towards minors and I can guarantee at least 30% of these people are masking their true identity beneath "Dark Humor" Another thing is these people genuinely tweak out when you make fun of God or the military (they suddenly hate dark humor now)
Earlier before jio, broadband internet was a luxury and there weren't many lower caste people on the internet anyways, so there was nothing to be casteist against online.
Growing up, I didn't really know much about caste, but I was always aware that my parents' relatives were poor. My father had the opportunity to work in the central government thanks to reservations. I didn't face much discrimination because of his hard work, but I still heard remarks like, "Tujhe toh achi college mil jayegi", when applying for colleges. I got into a really good college in Gujarat, but that's when I started feeling outcast. Our roll numbers were assigned based on merit; with a total strength of over 300, the students were divided into five groups. The first two groups were those who got into the college through JEE, and groups 3 and 4 were those who got in through ACPC/Gujcet. I was in group 4. I often heard my juniors make fun of people from groups 3&4 for not knowing proper English, as most were from the Gujarat state board. Even though I was a CBSE student, hearing those comments was very humiliating. Throughout my life, people kept asking me what kind of "Patel" I was, only for me to realize later that they were actually asking about my caste. I can't really complain much-I had a privileged life thanks to my dad. But sometimes, I'm reminded of the differences when I see others living the kind of life I might have had if my family's background were different. Great video, though! I would like to add a few things about how we can see casteism on social media, too. People from lower backgrounds are often labeled "chapri" and are constantly mocked for the way they dress and present themselves. A lot of it might seem cringey, but calling something "cringe" and calling it "chapri" are very different, in my opinion.
You used reservation to get into a college you didn't deserved, snatched someone else's seat who must have been way better than you, and now you cry that they don't put in a pedestal in your college and they divide based on merit why won't they?? You want reservation in everyday life as well as much as you can right ???? Way to create an inefficient nation.
Whatever you say it doesnt change the fact that and reservation is causing harm to our country, You guys play victim card in order to get keep getting reservations. This is the sole reason for hate
didnt u use ur caste certificate to get in to that college ? if not then i sympathize with u .....but if u did then what r u complaining about ....ur offended they grouped students with merit and not caste !! ..if ur a gujarati u would also have got reservation in gujcet right? then it sound ok to group students acc to exams ....the students who came through jee ..gave a much difficult exam and dividing on the base of merit sounds fair to me ...!!
We were taught. We were TAUGHT that casteism is a thing of the past. I belong to an "upper caste" family / surname, hence because I never experienced casteism and my friends, majority of whom were in the same social strata as me, genuienly believed it to have gone out of power for a long long time. But the stats don't lie. Unfortunately most people even around me refuse to acknowledge this even with the info provided. I was living in ignornace for 18 years and more. 18 YEARS?!!!
same i am from general but my cousin is SC we are of same age and his economic condition is bit better than me . We are good buddies but at a below level I was jealous of him because he had an upper hand both financially and reservation wise and I always used to argue that if the govt. was that concerned about people they should just give reservations to people who are financially weaker thinking that this inequality doesn’t exist because I used to ask him if he faced any and he said no but now seeing that infact this discrimination still exists shocks me in majority parts of India .
@@Vk9970-p3b Y'all often demand justification for reservation but never acknowledge casteism-the very tool of oppression and the primary reason reservation exists in the first place.
such a great video! I'm a SC and i think one big part of peoples thinking in India is that reservation should be given on economic basis (only poor people should get it) but they don't know caste is a societal/social problem not a economic problem any rich/poor person whether a SC or ST can face discrimination in every part of the society and reservation is a form of representation in the fields which are still dominated by the upper castes, so to save us from the discrimination in a upper caste dominated field DR. Ambedkar provided us reservation. Maybe one day they will realise! Anyways im studying my masters and im the only SC in my class which shows how less of our people even reach here because they are always limited by society and not allowed to reach here! Thanks for speaking up for yourself ik it must be hard and you're so strong for that!
Thank you for shedding light on this important topic Misimi. I wish you strength and happiness. I deeply resonate with your thoughts, as this issue is incredibly prevalent yet often overlooked. As a design graduate with a Master's degree from IIT Kanpur, I have witnessed its reality and the profound impact it can have on one's life. Fortunately, I’ve been fortunate to meet remarkable individuals who recognized my merit and potential beyond caste biases. However, I’ve also encountered others who casually dismissed me in ways one wouldn’t even anticipate. Let’s continue striving for equality, standing up for every individual, and dismantling the superficial notion of so-called ‘pure blood’ superiority. At our core, we are all the same.
i have faced this too, I found out I'm sc during my entrance too, my parents never disclosed it to me till then, because they don't believe in that too but I've seen extreme lower caste discrimination and I'm glad I was safe from it, my perspective just drastically changed since then, I still don't don't disclose my caste because who tf cares, I'm well educated and cultured and thats what matters, nowadays due to internet sanatanism these things are coming back, the hate I've seen always makes me fear the people around. Indian society will evolve the day they leave castism behind
this video was very much needed!! as a person who's studying in a school with all these "upper caste" people and has to listen to "discussion" about caste that is shallow and biased on a daily basis., this video was a breath of fresh air
@@coolguy-zm7tn Did you give up on your casteist mentality? Reservation is the consequence of casteism and nothing else. Let go of your higher caste wala ghamand and reservation will be abolished automatically.
Thank you for this Video, I cracked Jee mains and Jee advanced but after getting to one of the best NITs in North India I got discriminated against, there are many caste groups in my college, still roaming in that city for rooms they ask the surname before giving the room. Cast discrimination never stopped, casteism changed their medium.
honestly i can't even put it into words how much i relate.. from being shielded about these topics, to not being confident enough to speak out about this within friend-circles, to understanding so much of generalized casteism around myself later on in life. Its a whole experience. I m so inspired by u having the courage to speak up on this topic.
One thing I want to add. People who says castism only exist in rural india, just google castism in top companies in google, apple , netflix etc that to in USA. Because when upper caste go their they take their castist mindset with them.
Bruhh if congress doesnt have a parsi mp it doesn't mean congress doesn't support parsi's it just comes out to be that they don't have parsi mp. The same is with jobs just because it comes out to be that upper caste people are seated in good posts doesn't mean that they gone till there by Casteism
From a completely logical standpoint : people from "upper" castes have nothing to do with this shi. It's just that those people working for those companies have enough money to work abroad. I am half upper caste and I don't have the money to work or study abroad, yet I can't apply for FAIR scholarships without hoping someone less deserving got the scholarship just because they're lower so they get more pity from the education board. Why? What did I do? By your victim mindset, this isn't castism though is it? 🙂
I am SC and i live in Tripura, let me tell you what happened with me,when i was 9 years old there was a baisnav seva in our Village,i touched the baisnav when i was playing and he was eating,he got up and went out took cow dung and mixed with water and sprinkled on her,no one said nothing,we are not allowed to go near the Durga puja bhog or touch the pandit directly while he was doing puja, when we moved to the city ,the house owner wont drink even water from our house, thats the condition we are living in i am very eager to leave the country and settle abroad,i have lost belief in both my religion and my country.

I belong from an uppercaste family. Since childhood I have seen my parents working really hard to earn. So much so that they brought us from a status of a lower middle class family to somewhat above an upper middle class family (according to a town lifestyle). What I have noticed is that my parents were really good at making family level connections with people from different work background, be it from a SP to a catering person. I myself believe that along with their hardwork, this one factor is also something that contributed alot in making my parents work life more smoothe. I always wonder that whether a lower caste person would be able to do the same because of society prejudices. Would love to have other people opinion regarding this thought. Also in my personal opinion I think that no matter what the competitive exam is,reservations no matter whether on the basis of caste, religion, gender, economic background etc should not be applied to students who gets the highest scorings in exams according to the paper difficulty level, because those are some extraordinary students and deserve to be in the top colleges.
Your videos are too good and bold. Love your content and the fact that you neither commented on any caste or if someone's behavior is right or wrong and left the audience to see the right or wrong is appreciable
You yourself stated that growing up as a person in an urban setting, you didn't have much understanding of caste or even faced any discrimination UNTIL you sat for entrance exams. Because it's true than most people in cities, especially the younger generation, do not discriminate or even care about caste. It was you getting reservations that pissed off your general category friends, and rightfully so. Your maid's daughter will not get the reservation because people like you who don't NEED reservation, take it, and use it as an unfair advantage. I'm all for reservation as long the creamy layer, especially people with access to the best tutions, books and opportunities, are left out of it. That will help people from lower castes who are actually backward, from rural and underdeveloped places, and not just on paper. Imo, all the 'casteism' that you faced stemmed from watching a rich person with all facilities getting reservation, not actual casteist prejudices. And fyi, someone getting into your dream college with a rank that is triple of yours feels equally bad as the so called casteism you claim to have faced.
i think there is a creamy layer thing for obc people, because i myself didnt get a caste certificate because of my parents income. but i dont know if it exists for sc st people.
Being a dalit It takes lots of courage to openly talk about caste system in India & also getting benefits from it in the name of reservation as a birth right for generation after generation, I seriously don't understand when will it all ends & equal opportunity happen to all . Seriously don't know when
U are so true. All my life i have been told by my parents not to tell my caste to the people around me so that i don't have to face discrimination. It's also true that how much my fellow classmates used to talk about being proud of their caste and being told by their upper caste families to not sit or even talk with the lower caste people. Let alone the fact that i was in an ICSE school still i had to see all of this happening around me. Till this day i feel ashamed and my mind goes blank when someone asks me about my caste. The fear that i have is can't be described. Fear of losing the ones who were with me all these years is scary. But i am glad that i have also met few people who doesn't ask me about my caste two minutes in to the conversation , and just loves me for who i am. And Just to show u what living in india being from a lower caste feels like - me and my family lives in a Punjabi colony ( No hate to all the Punjabis out there but what i am going to say is not really Just about you ) so people in my colony always avoid talking with us . Specially the aunties , they always make my mom feel very excluded from all the kitty parties , evening walks, they even avoid talking with my mum . Like just being sweet in front of her but never wanting to include her like a normal human. Not only this but I have heard countless stories from my mother of her being discriminated throughout her life. My mother is is well educated and now she is a teacher, but one thing that is different between my mum and these people is that my mother always teach her students to never discriminate , treat everyone equally no matter the gender or colour. It's really not about the caste it's about the kind of person u are.

Caste discrimination is real. Not all kinds of discrimination can be eliminated. The world is unfair in a lot of other ways. On a broader level, Class is a more widespread marker for unfairness. Everyone can see that this is true. Reservations on the basis of caste is not a solution that works at eliminating unfairness and in fact increases it.
1:47 ....my parents are upper caste brahmin bhumihars from Bihar and I've (born n raised in Delhi) always wondered why , i was never given a surname . Kaafi late I come to know about all the horrors of caste violence and brutality that has stained my home state . They wanted me to never be identified with my caste or background in public and professional surroundings , almost like yours did to shield you .
Whatever you say it doesnt change the fact that and reservation is causing harm to our country You guys play victim card in order to get keep getting reservations. The only reason for hate.
I'm from OBC I didn't knew about caste system until I moved to India from abroad. Because in school it was quite prevelant to ask about caste for admission, exams etc. When I was abroad we barely know about caste it was just Indians regardless of caste. Caste discrimination will be wiped out only if caste system is removed from India. But no political party has balls to remove caste system from India since it is good for their vote bank politics. Reservation won't solve the issue as its been 70+ years already & there aren't much changes in the society. Discrimination won't exist if other people don't know the caste of other person. Ban caste from matrimonial sites, educational institutions, caste surnames etc. Then we will have real changes. Financial assistance should be given to economically backward families instead. Else we are already witnessing brain drain in India due to many smart talents moving abroad.
I agree with you. the reservation system in educational institutions had led to a cycle of discrimination and hatred wherein the lower caste get benefits due to discrimination and the upper caste discriminate against them because they are favoured and so the cycle continues.
@@VinayashaPaswan-nn9vd Problem is same last name alone won’t solve the issue. Eradicating caste system & no caste based name is better step. In Bihar people still ask for caste which is why same last name isn’t doing much.
absolutely real, when i tell my friends that its STILL being practiced they are like nah we are genzs why would anyone discriminate blah blah but there are SO MANY PEOPLE WHO OPENLY DISCRIMINATE IN OUR CLASS BASED ON CASTE. one of them went "humara khoon toh kshatiryon ka hai whyd we even be friends with sc sts" ???????? Once one of them hatesd this guy for being a teachers pet toh she went "pakka sc st ka hoga mai toh inke kareeb bhi na jau"...and the reservation thing especially people dont consider ki sc st people do get in on the basis of merit as well! Whenever any sort of puja is done, my parents would call themselves lower caste and avoid touching the pandit directly. In the villages of my parents side, being an sc st our community people live at the very end of the village and no one of the upper caste would enter that side. My parents never told my about our caste until i got to know myself and asked about it, I was told not to tell anyone about it. At that time i thought no one could care less about my caste, but i was so wrong. Being rich or poor only affects how openly one is discriminated, if poor youll def be openly targeted and if not people will talk about it behing ur back, either ways u will be discriminated.
Just because some people discriminate based on caste does not mean that you were denied the same education and opportunities as the general students of your class. It's like saying that I was bullied in school because of my darker skin so I should get a reservation... Social discrimination is a sad reality, I agree. But the fact is that discrimination did not lead to opression or denial in education or opportunity. Hence the preferential treatment of reserved castes in selection in higher education and jobs create a unfair playing ground where students with same kind of education are treated differently, hence igniting more discrimination based on reservation and the sense of unfair unequality it gives to the SCs. the village experience you mentioned, I agree is a reality too. But not in Urban India, The above paragraph is in relation to the Urban Indian context, as for the Rural Indian context, I wholeheartedy agree that for the social and economic upliftment of Rural India and the SCs of Rural India, Proper reservations should be given to them because there the discrimination often penetrates their rural schools. But also a wider reservation must also be given to the economically weaker classes of India, because as you said discrimination is open in economically weak societies, where it starts to translates into opressive exclusionary acts. But to equate that with the discrimination of urban India is simply unequal and unjust since in urban settings it's a discrimination that never translates to anything, equal opportunity and education stays.
@@mr.d3051 I understand some of your perspective, but caste-based discrimination is deeply rooted and persists even in urban contexts, often in subtle tho impactful ways. Discrimination isn’t just about overt denial of education or opportunities; it even includes systemic and societal barriers that hinder confidence, integration, and access to informal networks critical for growth. Urban India may provide the same textbooks, but the psychological and social setbacks caused by exclusionary attitudes are significant. Reservations aim to address centuries of structural exclusion, not just immediate discrimination. They work to LEVEL a playing field where generational privilege still influences who gets access to opportunities and the influence of the upper caste in high positions. It’s also important to note that many SC/ST individuals succeed on merit, yet they are unfairly labeled as “beneficiaries of reservation,” which perpetuates stigma. Framing reservations as unfair overlooks their role in correcting systemic inequities and risks fueling resentment, which worsens the very discrimination they seek to reduce. Instead, I feel we gotta focus on addressing inequities without undermining the progress made through these policies.
@CiskoLunar-mk3yw The "jail all men" analogy doesn’t fit here because caste discrimination isn’t about isolated actions but deeply ingrained biases that still exist-even among Gen Z. As you pointed out, people openly discriminate in class and beyond, making judgments based on caste regardless of merit or economic status. Reservations aren’t punishment but a way to level the field for communities that still face systemic bias. It’s not about individuals; it’s about fixing a larger issue.
@@dewy_droplets Not really, Discrimination exists in urban India, and it is not restricted to just caste based. but I'd say it is not Impactful as you claim. You said it includes "systemic and societal barriers" what kind? and how is reservation curbing it? "Confidence, integration and access to to informal networks" are only lacked by economically lower class and are not at all affected by caste. As for the Psychological and Social affects of casteism, they are not reduced by reservation and only magnified by it. Moreover, Similar psychological and social affects are faced by victims of other forms of discrimination, like dark skinned vs light skinned, accent in speech, a person's state's stereotypical caricature, general bullying, religion* based discrimination and even region based discrimination (like north, south, east, west, jamnapar divisions of delhi... same with other cities) These discriminations also affect in a similar way and manifests as exclusionary attitudes. Your next point is that reservation addresses generational privilege and allows a level playing field where generational privilege helps. Again, if you attempt to define that privilege, you;ll find that it exists only in financially prosperous classes, irrespective of caste. Cause No generational wealth actually translates into economically weak general caste people and Selection in High Positions should only take place based on Merit and not otherwise, it is unconstitutional if "influence" of general caste high positioned people discriminate against reserved caste, but reservation to the influence and economically stable reserved class is the bane of system. Plus this creates a barrier for those reserved caste people who actually need that leveling due to poor financials and lack of equal education and opportunity cause the financially stable and educated "reserved caste" get an unfair advantage not just against general caste but also against the actual needy reserved caste. Reservation system's unfair and unequal nature is that derives the unfair labeling of "beneficiaries of reservation" to someone... I have said it before and I'll say it again, No one will have an angst against reservation if reservation is given to someone who deserves it, someone who actually did not have equal opportunity and equal education, who suffered opression due to any measure not just casteism... But when people see someone who has the same education, same opportunities, same or better financials as them, then they are destined to turn bitter and I dont blame them. just like I dont blame someone who does not need reservation(due to equal education and opportunity as a general) but uses it cause they have the right to use it. What I blame is the lack of proper policy and lack of will to create a more equitable society. *Edited

True. I am always very pessimistic about the situation of people because internet is filled with this anti reservation and pro castism narrative where they outright deny every problem that exist and just say it doesn't exist...but this young lady putting it out in a proper and clear manner is inspiring.
the only thing i'm kinda eh about caste system is that so many undeserving candidates get seats due to reservation. i'm not talking about the sc/st/obc ppl who actually work hard, i'm talking abt those who take advantage of the caste system. i have seen so many people illegally change their caste using connections which is so fucked up. i'm muslim so i fall into general category but whatever i don't really care. in my opinion, college entrance exams shouldn't have reservations, it should only be based on merit. on the other hand, job placements wtvr it is called should have reservations because obviously interviewers can be prejudiced against lower castes.
You are muslims muslims r the most hypocritical gotta be honest like 90% of muslims of west bengal have onc reservation 😂 West bengal never had castism inthe first place yet this is so fkn wild😂
this was SO NEEDED, I (Sc) myself preparing for NEET see so many ppl only spazzing on reservations saying sc/st are as rich as general and stuff like that but fail to realize that reservations have never been about the lower caste being "financially" equal rather socially
Lmfaooo also so what if few sc's are rich and well to do, not to mention there might be sc's who are rich but rarely if not never a brahmin who is doing manual labour work like working to clean the streets etc... goes to show the proviledge tgey have as well lol

Reservations are not making you socially equal they are further broadening the divide, If I got into a cllg at score 650 I can never see someone with 450 as my equal
I discovered what castism is like im college fr. To me, its insane how people, people we look up to or people who i assumed to be wise and old can so easily discriminate on the basis of where you were born, its like logic and morals just left the chat. Good to see younger folk talking about such issues. Caste cannot be eradicated only by reservation. Social dialogue like this is also equally important. Keep up the good work.
Casteism isn't a problem that can be solved through reservation, in fact it will increase the heat between castes. Besides that the government should focus to support economically backwards people(whose "major part is lower caste"). The lack of "lower caste" people in higher ranks/jobs isn't only caused by casteism but majorly due to corruption and lack of qualifications which is problem for everyone. So government should focus on giving improving free and quality education and provide opportunities for economically weaker classes.
Reservation is just a representation of a particular community in the administration. It empowers the particular community in the discriminating society leads to improvement of social status. Brahmins are powerful not only due to Varna System or Brahman Dharma but also due to their participation in administrative power sharing. So get out of here, your idea is useless.
Unless you are able to erase thousands of years' worth of history and culture that actively promotes a societal hierarchy based on caste, and even harder re-educate the entire Indian population on TRUE principles of equality and a MODERN civic sense, then no, it is impossible. You may claim to have good intentions but don't contradict yourself by turning a blind eye to the reality that is that casteism is a system that is inherently discriminatory and incompatible with any form of 'equality' or 'equity', and that much like any power dynamic the upper castes will always defend it, willingly or not.
Thanks a lot for bringing up this topic. These assholes have literally made our lives hell; they previously made our lives hell, now as well. Basically, they don't want to see us progress. That's why they cry about opportunities.
This was a good video. This country really hates conversation about this. You shared your experience about your friends otherizing you when it came to reservations and entrance exams, I have people who I called friends once completely alienate me and they did not hesitate to verbally call out my "privilege", it was so strange, I knew that would happen but it still sucked. Choose your friends wisely, work on yourself !

They were rich yet took st sc reservation i still don't know which category does Choudhary come in but few of choudhary friends took st sc reservation instead of obc. Rich st sc obc Don't deserve reservation. Thats major reason of college dropouts
So glad to see more people of our generation talking about casteism. It is such a deep rooted problem and avoided by those who don't directly experience the horrors it has inflicted. Being from a Malayali Christian family, I myself never came to realise the depths of casteism that is still prevalent. My family never covered caste or even most societal issues for that matter. But, as I grew up, seeing the unfairness of Indian society made me delve deeper into the topic and realise how much casteism still affects literally every single part of the country. Now, living in the center of Urban Bangalore, just seeing how almost all of the BBMP workers, who wake up early every morning to clean the shit, literal and metaphorical, that the urban upper caste throw out every day are of lower caste, it makes me realise that caste has never left us. It will never go away, until we develop an education system which properly tackles societal issues including casteism, and until the government develops better reforms to help aid those that truly suffer from the caste system.

I think this problem is deeply rooted to the core no matter how lenient you really are , some part of you is still the same . The problem with the reservation situation is , when as a general category student you see a vast difference in marks needed , it gets demotivating. But the thing that we can't see easily is that the "lower cast" (idk why we call it that) have been denied of information and opportunities that this actually uplifts the . I don't think reservation is the solution and i also know if not reservation then what ? I just dont understand this world and i am tired of it

But in my college i had a friend she was a jatt sikh (general caste) we ate together, she was such a sweet heart but one day we and few more friends were sitting together she started bashing a guy who was also an SC saying castiest slurs because he had a girlfriend from jatt sikh caste , and man i felt so weird that it became unbearable for me to listen and i slowly left her friendship . I feel sorry for that guy like i felt she might be bashing me behind the back on my caste too.

Close friends B. People you would call in case you need to get work done C. People of influence in your phone D. That Founder/CEO who you admire. And see what is the percentage of marginalised people in that list. You will soon realise the system itself, irrespective of reservations, is built to cater to a certain layer of society - and you'll notice that caste and class in India are very similar.
People are not showing the other side of this caste discrimination thing this is the real story from my city There was a brahmin guy who went to a restaurant and ordered something veg and owner/ worker of that restaurant was from a lower caste so when he saw that this guy has a chutia he decided to serve him non veg food and when the guy confront the worker/owner he attacked him with some other guys working at the restaurant the guy was brutally injured and he was rushed to hospital but still no one covered this news
Being a ST category man, I just used to think (in school) that why people leave me after knowing my last name. And people say there's no casteism in 2024. Lol.
Thanks a lot for making this video!!!! The generation of our parents had a chance to break these casteism barriers by simply denying the ideology that their parents tried to push on them. But even educated Brahmins of that same generation not only have accepted it but also are actively propagating the same under the guise of "pRoTeCtiNg oUr CuLtUrE". Just like you said at 10:42 that casteism is still around us but better masked. This decision on our parents' part is what is indoctrinating upper caste youth into adhering to the same ideology, especially in these times of high academic and professional pressure where the youth is actively searching for someone to hate for all of their problems and failures. And I can say this about Brahmins because I am one. Casteism is so ingrained into our social lives that my parents had to point out these things behind the backs of our relatives and family to make sure we don't fall into such bs. And they couldn't do so openly because the Chinese whispers would've killed off their professional and social lives in our native state.
I beleive if u wanna keep reservations then do it on the basis of family income, otherwise dont keep it. Its true that many people from sc/st community do take the unfair advantage of reservation irrespective of their family income which is quite unfair in my opinion because you will also find many unprivileged poor people from upper castes as much as u find from lower ones.
Economic criterion is the most bogus criteria for reservation. Reservation or in other words Representation is based on the social backwardness which is prevalent from centuries prior to independence and which is still prevalent now. How many people in your family have married people from a so-called lower caste, you do not see this phenomenon as a problem? Aren't you able to infer what is still happening in today's contemporary society. Let me ask you a question, does it hurt you when people are relatively richer than you? Do you judge people with the same parameter in your own caste or are your cries reserved only for lower castes?
Misimi could you please create a video exploring why India is often perceived as one of the worst countries to live in and why there seems to be racism towards India from people in other parts of the world? ❤ Also Excellent video! You’ve done a fantastic job of shedding light on the truth and presenting it so honestly. Truly appreciate your courage and effort in addressing such an important topic!
as a sindhi teen from general category, I'm glad Sindhi Hindus, atleast in India have never adhered to the caste system or maybe some do, idk. maybe it's because of the incredibly low population of us in india but i digress. growing up, we never had caste discussions in our household but ig my family, unfortunately is against the caste based reservations because identifying ourselves by "caste" is such an alien thing for sindhi hindus. we tend to bond over our language and ethnicity only. i still dont know nor care if I'm a brahmin or kshatriya or vaishya whatever lol. thank you sm misimi for making a video on such an important yet neglected topic like this.
Sindhis do have communities, but they’re more like sedentary tribes than “castes” because Sindh (and also Punjab) are peripheral regions where brahmanical authority is not that strong. Many of these Punjabi and Sindhi tribes like Khatris, Jatts, Kambojas actually migrated from further north in Central Asia or Afghanistan after the establishment of the Varna system in the sub-continent. They don’t traditionally have any position in the “caste” hierarchy but some, like Khatris, accepted brahmanical authority later on, for which they got a “Kshatriya status” despite being merchants by profession. Irony is, the most casteist group, Rajputs, are actually composed of peasants and tribals who managed to acquire land and accepted brahmanical authority. The Brahmins gave them “Kshatriya” status and made up imaginary lineages connecting them to actual kings who were called Rajput (son of King).
Caste is NOT alien to you Sindis BECAUSE , The Hindu Sindis who are still in PAK are MOSTLY Dalits . During partition only the previlaged and rich could escape from the Ashrafs and they BLOCKED these Dalits to enter India.

i'm born in delhi, in 2007, and i moved to london in 2008. i'm not experiencing caste, but my mamaji and papaji (who are both punjabi and sikh) experienced severe caste. although sikh last names don't have any caste attached to them because followers of sikhism were asked to have common last names so whether you're rich or poor is unidentifiable, no one looked down on my mamaji growing up in delhi (she was born in patiala) because my naani and naanu were both teachers and highly educated and got married later after finishing university. my dadu was a yoga teacher and my dadi was unemployed because she never went to university as she had my dad at 19. when my papaji and mamaji got married my naani and naanu were not okay with it and had a 'inter-caste' sort of marriage and ran away, saying my papaji wasn't going to be able to provide as he didn't go to a very top IIT for engineering, whereas my mamaji went to delhi university for her undergraduate and MBA. now, we live extremely comfortably in the UK, with a big house, two expensive cars and i'm able to afford designer clothes and makeup, and go on holiday every other month. thank you to my mamaji and papaji for giving me this life, even though they didn't think they would be able to do this, even when my dad came from poverty. goes to show, although you may have a 'low caste' you can still make a good life for yourself - at the time my parents got married my mum earned more than my dad! although, being fully indian, i wasn't aware of this caste system. i'm very privileged to live in the UK where this isn't an issue.
You’re wrong, sikh surnames do have caste attached to them. Only singh and kaur don’t have caste connotations, that’s why guru gobind singh said we should go by singh and kaur and not surnames. You can tell whether someone is jatt, khatri, tharkhan or ravidasia by their surname.
Blaming marginalized groups for a broken system only distracts from the real problem.
pinning this cause i can’t keep replying with the same shit to everyone 💌
Agreed 👍
Btw there is just a little mistake in your comment, You mentioned IITs as ITs
@@dontmisimi you can't just assume that many of us (upper caste) come from private coaching institutes.

Only my grandparents did this”
(I come from a good family, was preparing for NEET, and was living with them in the same room, sharing the same status. Yet, I felt so embarrassed and inferior just because of the words they used to remind me that I’m ‘lower’ and they are ‘superior.’)
Then they added, “Bro, we eat with you, we eat food prepared by you, we don’t practice casteism.
But if my grandmother knew I ate with you, she would definitely scold me.
words made me feel like they were doing me a favor by eating with me.
This is what soft casteism looks like.

Let's not forget 90% of crimes on dalit are by other lower castes .

@@AmanKTiwariithey have generational wealth we don't.

Economics is joke though You became the opressor now leaving the opressed the indian dream best of luck.
If you're still pissed about NEET then hate the game, not the player.
i understand and i was warned against the same because people have such fixed mentalities but it will reveal a lot about “friends” around you. people who know you will know how capable you are, they will respect you beyond stupid things like caste. you don’t need to justify and tell them a sob story about your family’s experiences for them to have basic empathy towards you. be proud of what you are and thats how things will change. it’s the least we can do for the people who have suffered before us and are still suffering.
understand their situation too, you're talking about NEET, which is hell for general category peeps, even 650+ isn't enough nowadays, whereas for SC/ST peeps, even 400 is enough to get in. now obviously, the cutoffs are low because most SC/ST peeps are not in good conditions, but yes, the ones which are, get an unfair advantage, which the general students are frustrated about.
i understand this problem very well, by changing surnames, you may avoid some of the remarks you may get, but on the other hand, that leaves no meaning to the "reservation is for representation" agenda, if you can't stand for yourself.
all in all, our country has flaws, nothing can be done.
edit: (just so y'all know, i'm a general category male)
so many capable students shouldn’t be fighting over a mere number of seats to begin with. it’s not the fault of SC/ST students but the lack of accessible higher education and infrastructure in general. the pressure should be on the government to create more opportunities instead of hating on lower caste students who are literally changing their surnames and identities to not face discrimination. general category students often benefit from cultural capital, access to better guidance, mentorship, and preparatory resources that SC/ST students typically lack. this unseen advantage is rarely acknowledged in such discussions.
i totally agree with you.

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 well said
i think there is a creamy layer thing for obc people, because i myself didnt get a caste certificate because of my parents income. but i dont know if it exists for sc st people.

Yup she didn't even concluded the video well
The fact that people don’t really understand the essence of existence of reservation is loud enough to mark the need for it.
Being a dalit It takes lots of courage to openly talk about caste system in India & also getting benefits from it in the name of reservation as a birth right for generation after generation, I seriously don't understand when will it all ends & equal opportunity happen to all . Seriously don't know when
You don't discriminate?
It's really not about the caste it's about the kind of person u are.
facts
Like how you mention ICSe school as if it's some kinda higher than normal schools that's another form discrimination nothing else.
@GIGADEV690 tbh the syllabus of what kind of school went to was literally irrelevant to his story tbh 😔

I would say that Caste has a portion of class discrimination too with factions of others i.e racial, behavioural etc.
Many were also doing it with an intention to get a fake category certificate.
Whatever you say it doesnt change the fact that and reservation is causing harm to our country You guys play victim card in order to get keep getting reservations. The only reason for hate.
Biharis use Kumar, Kumari, Raj instead of their surname even if they are upper caste. But
I'm from OBC I didn't knew about caste system until I moved to India from abroad.
@ Yup
I'm from bihar magadh region and all the classmates here like 95% of have Kumar as their surname no matter which caste they are from.
@@VinayashaPaswan-nn9vd Problem is same last name alone won’t solve the issue. Eradicating caste system & no caste based name is better step. In Bihar people still ask for caste which is why same last name isn’t doing much.
Bihar m to bahut casteism hai@@VinayashaPaswan-nn9vd
absolutely real, when i tell my friends that its STILL being practiced they are like nah we are genzs why would anyone discriminate blah blah but there are SO MANY PEOPLE WHO OPENLY DISCRIMINATE IN OUR CLASS BASED ON CASTE. one of them went "humara khoon toh kshatiryon ka hai whyd we even be friends with sc sts" ????????
The most weird thing is when people claim to be Brahmin or Kshatriya despite not even knowing who their great grandparents were
@@mr.d3051 I understand some of your perspective, but caste-based discrimination is deeply rooted and persists even in urban contexts, often in subtle tho impactful ways.
What I blame is the lack of proper policy and lack of will to create a more equitable society.

the only thing i'm kinda eh about caste system is that so many undeserving candidates get seats due to reservation. i'm not talking about the sc/st/obc ppl who actually work hard, i'm talking abt those who take advantage of the caste system. i have seen so many people illegally change their caste using connections which is so fucked up. i'm muslim so i fall into general category but whatever i don't really care. in my opinion, college entrance exams shouldn't have reservations, it should only be based on merit. on the other hand, job placements wtvr it is called should have reservations because obviously interviewers can be prejudiced against lower castes.
hopefully whatever i said was coherent lol

privilege are concerned for what ?
Casteism isn't a problem that can be solved through reservation, in fact it will increase the heat between castes. Besides that the government should focus to support economically backwards people(whose "major part is lower caste"). The lack of "lower caste" people in higher ranks/jobs isn't only caused by casteism but majorly due to corruption and lack of qualifications which is problem for everyone. So government should focus on giving improving free and quality education and provide opportunities for economically weaker classes.
Wow. You didn't listen to a single word she just said
Reservation is just a representation of a particular community in the administration.

Thank you for speaking out loud on this subject. I like that the younger generation is so aware of issues like these.

But how are you all so rich?
Caste is NOT alien to you Sindis BECAUSE , The Hindu Sindis who are still in PAK are MOSTLY Dalits . During partition only the previlaged and rich could escape from the Ashrafs and they BLOCKED these Dalits to enter India.
@@timepasstubee Sindhi who migrated to India were not rich most of came barefoot they also have their own struggle they also struggled financially and yes they didn't face discrimination which is not having disadvantage rather than having advantage Sindhi were not socially backward community so they became rich by hardwork and their expertise..

i'm born in delhi, in 2007, and i moved to london in 2008. i'm not experiencing caste, but my mamaji and papaji (who are both punjabi and sikh) experienced severe caste. although sikh last names don't have any caste attached to them because followers of sikhism were asked to have common last names so whether you're rich or poor is unidentifiable, no one looked down on my mamaji growing up in delhi (she was born in patiala) because my naani and naanu were both teachers and highly educated and got married later after finishing university. my dadu was a yoga teacher and my dadi was unemployed because she never went to university as she had my dad at 19. when my papaji and mamaji got married my naani and naanu were not okay with it and had a 'inter-caste' sort of marriage and ran away, saying my papaji wasn't going to be able to provide as he didn't go to a very top IIT for engineering, whereas my mamaji went to delhi university for her undergraduate and MBA. now, we live extremely comfortably in the UK, with a big house, two expensive cars and i'm able to afford designer clothes and makeup, and go on holiday every other month. thank you to my mamaji and papaji for giving me this life, even though they didn't think they would be able to do this, even when my dad came from poverty. goes to show, although you may have a 'low caste' you can still make a good life for yourself - at the time my parents got married my mum earned more than my dad! although, being fully indian, i wasn't aware of this caste system. i'm very privileged to live in the UK where this isn't an issue.
I was also born in 2007
You’re wrong, sikh surnames do have caste attached to them. Only singh and kaur don’t have caste connotations, that’s why guru gobind singh said we should go by singh and kaur and not surnames. You can tell whether someone is jatt, khatri, tharkhan or ravidasia by their surname.
Great respect for your grandfather👑.
