    TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS
ABRSM’s recommended tempo for this piece is between 132 - 144 bpm but should ideally be played very loosely in a rubato style.
A smooth, legato touch is needed, with careful observation of the crescendos in bars 5 and 9 (which actually feesl like a gradual build-up between those bars, until reaching the loud paused chord at bar 12. The final crescendo at bar 15 must build up from pp (very soft) all the way to the end of the piece, culminating with an extremely loudly fff - fortississimo (very, very loudl!) on the final bar.
There are constant sustain pedal markings written throughout the score, so be sure to keep an eye out for the break points between pedalling.
One area to be extremely careful with are the 8va markings at bar 15 - the left-hand part is to be played an octave lower than written in that bar. Even more importantly is the need to notice the 8va dotted line located high above the right-hand part of bars 17, 18 and 19 - it would be very easy to simply not notice this, due to it’s high placement above the notes. All the notes therefore in bars 17, 18 and 19 must be played an octave higher than written. The capital letter L.H. indicates the left hand will share some of the playing in bars 17 and 18.
