That laser is a targeting laser basically fire the laser and the weapons at the same time or depending on how long the weapon take to hit fore the laser right after weapons and they should hit where the laser is pointed in theory

Seems with the random mod you have to build up armor around your reactors so nothing explosive or potentially explosive can appear next to them.
Maybe even as placeholders to place portals if your playing to only use what pops up.
