I'm from Singapore, and it's really common for us bikers here to put a lot of boxes on our bikes, particularly the top box, as they're often our daily drivers and you either own a bike or a car, rarely both (It's expensive...). I doubt they were going on tour, likely just went to work :)

Hi! Local here. Really enjoyed your video! Btw, after the first 10 years, actually there are 3 options. The 3rd one is that you can buy another 'COE' for 5 years instead, for roughly half the cost of full 10 years COE. But the downside is that after the 15th year, you have to scrap or car/bike. But if you go for the 10 years, you can keep on renewing for 10-20 or for how many more decades you want. But if im not wrong, after the 30th year, you have to convert you car/bike to a classic scheme, the ones with the yellow/red registration plate. Like the vespa shown earlier in your vid.

If you're referring to the COE , its been around for decades. And yes, for context, the public transport is significantly effevtive, however, it isnt favoured for day to day necessary life for working people.
The overcrowding and uncomfortable journey and delays that are constantly caused by rush hour is physically draining. Not to mention, most business districts are very, very far away from people's homes, so you can easily spend 2 or 3 hours travelling per day, in a country that's barely 60km wide.

Prices of vehicles here are always a shocker for foreigners, and it's a constant grumble for us locals.
I'm not a proponent of the tax system, but it keeps the vehicle population in check (controls congestion, which plaques many Asian cities) and encourages use of public transport, which the government has invested heavily in.

I used to work in Sun Tech City in 2000, but I am back in the states now. Such fond memories of the friendly people, the DELICIOUS foods, the smells of the street food, the warm embrace of the morning heat, the architecture alongside the quay….loved every minute. Lots to do.

most of us just use the public transport to travel...taking a cab to the cbd/town area for work is much cheaper than owning a car.cars n bikes was much much cheaper 10-20 years ago..
come back here again n there are other places to explore ..

Ayyy the Yamaha YBR125 is one of the main trainer bikes here in Singapore, used at the Comfort Delgro Driving Centre (CDC) for learning the first tier of motorcycle license (Class 2B)! The other two driving centres here (BBDC and SSDC) use Honda bikes instead!
Side note: Looks like the one you guys rented was a much older model than what's used at CDC :o

Hi , been waiting for this , as you never see Singapore on TV other than F1 , to see the city is a treat . The blue Honda vee twin were in the UK in the late 1970,s early 80,s , as two chaps I worked with had them, one red one and the other one black . Keep an eye on Freddie , Monica, some how the heat is effecting his booking ideas , or you could end up in CHANGI Prison , my brother was often there , collecting wayward drunken sailors back in the late 1960,s to 1970,s , he always said it was a great place . Have fun and look out for the RATS .

It's so easy to book wrong dates, I have just had to re-book a nights accommodation for the Wheels and Waves trip in June as we're traveling down to Biarritz over 3 days I'd booked the 1st night and the 3rd night but totally forgot the middle night. Luckily I managed to find somewhere on the route so all good in the end.

We went up to Laos then Thailand and Malaysia, then came back to Singapore and got he same place again for the same price. Okay, my girlfriend originally came from Singapore (inside info) so we had local knowledge but it is more than possible. Best of luck with the adventure✅
