Thanks for sharing our cultural food! This is especially cooked during our festivals, weddings, Diwali, and Holi!
Thank you Matthew. My mother in law always makes this for special occasions and I never watched her making it. I love your short cut methods.
Thank you so much
I love karie my mother in law used to make it a lot,it brings back memories of back home 🏡
Your recipe is very good. Guyanese people make the best phoulrie. Instead of so much flour, I add grind dhall to the fresh mixture and I get a lot of compliments on the flavor
Yum! I love the Guyanese style pholourie over the Trini style
Matthew I tried this recipe and it came out so well. It is a good snack for a cold snowy day, like today. I am having it with some tamarind chutney. Thanks again for explaining this recipe.
So happy to hear!!
This is the best recipe I have ever seen. You are the best Matthew!

Thank you so much!
I love the old school polourie.
I agree, me too!!
All this time I thought it was curry inside but it’s turmeric! Nice !!
Thank you for watching. I am not sure why people started adding curry powder, but it isn't a traditional ingredient for pholourie in our family.
Love it. Thanks for the info
Thanks for watching
Hi Matthew you make the best Guyanese pholourie
Thank you
You are very welcome!
Nice job- greetings from California
Thank you for watching!
There’s a reason this the 1st recipe when you do a YT search 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hope you enjoy
Hi Matthew thankyou for sharing for recipes. Yep I remember making this pholourie in Trinidad with my grand mother. She made them the same way like this. grinding the soak dhal on the Sil and lorha. I used to help her sometimes. But I made more of a mess of it. Lol. Yes you are correct they did not add flour or b powder. She did it the old ways , she did not put any baking powder or flour in it.
I will do a recipe without flour and baking powder one day just to show the variation
@@matthewsguyanesecooking4601 Thankyou Matthew! You are a nice young man!

Indian Cuisine shaped the food in the west indies , best recipes are indian inspired foods.
Potato balls next please!😄
Will do soon
This is a good recipe but I think most ppl are used to the flour polhourie. It's cheaper to make so most school canteens sell those. I didn't really enjoy this one as much because of the texture but the flavors were on point. Thanks.
Yeah my mom use to make it with no flour then later we start to do half flour and half dall mixture or dall flour with baking powder I also know some people only use flour and yeast and clour
For sure. There are lots of different ways to make pholourie.
❤
Already regret clicking on this video my stomach is calling for it.
I miss eating that stuff with the sour
Hey where did you get your blender from please
Hi Mathew I'm from Trinidad what is orange soda that was use in your sirnie recipe
I used the Fanta brand. You can also use crush brand or literally any other brand.
It also has to have some ground geera (cumin)
Sometimes I put and sometimes I don’t
Hey Matthew,
Can I use spilt Chana dal chickpea split?
Yes
If I were to make this recipe, can I make the batter a day ahead and refrigerate it for the next day when I can fry it?

Wouldn't it be easier to put the pepper and garlic in with the dal and.blend them together?
You can definitely do that too. I've done it both ways, I just did it this way for the sake of showing the ingredients in the video
Can i blend this in the blender too?
Yes
Thanks!

@@matthewsguyanesecooking4601 ok I'll check.
I do baking powder
Yes some people do and some people dont
I wanted to cry when the peas were put in and a few of them were on the upper part of the knife segment and not in the bowl 😭
Waaaa!
@@ronbuil6923 Thank you for crying for me
How about some yeast.
The traditional Guyanese pholourie made with fresh dhal doesn't have yeast. Some versions do. This one isn't meant to be super fluffy
