I don't care about his motion, inside track, release or whatever all the rest of the people are focused on because in the end....none of it counts for much really. I say the best thing about the old Gary and the Gary of today that has never changed, and in fact has gotten much better with age is the mans character and the kindness in his heart. The guy has been a beacon of love and kindness to all his entire life and I believe provided himself as a role model for other golfers to also spend time and money giving to those with so much less. He's done what I wish I could have done far more of and that's make this world a better place for so many while also getting paid to play the game I love. No one has done it better, and no wonder Jack and Arnie and him were such good friends. Sports will never have another "big Three" like these men and I was blessed enough to see them for so many years God bless you Gary.
One of the reasons for Player's longevity of physical ability is because he's a health fanatic. He's been a whole foods vegetarian for sometime now. Last I heard he wanted to go vegan but not sure if he did. He was also into physical fitness. He also utilized a modern style release which is releasing the club by driving your whole body as opposed to most folks in the 70s and 80s who relied on keeping their head "behind the ball" to prevent blocking it out to the right. That also helps with longevity.
The difference is what he found out from what Hogan told him early on it didn’t hit him until later. Watch the video of him explain it. The only thing he change was moving is left arm across is chest with the club in front of hands.
Bingo. At least I'm not the only one who knows this. He changed in 2005 (when he was 70 years old) because of what Hogan had told him. He said if he'd known from an earlier age he would've won so many more majors. Hogan even said at an old age he finally knew how to swing the club but that he was too old to put it into use...amazing stuff that gives us an insight into how many balls it takes for you to truly learn how to swing.
No player has ever won golfs "Grand Slam" in the "modern era of golf" . The "Grand Slam" is winning all 4 majors in the SAME YEAR!! Tiger came closest by winning 4 in a row but not in the same year. Hogan had 3 in one year and Nicklaus had 2 in one year. The most Gary won in a single year was ONE. I have heard Gary talk about his winning "The Grand Slam" and he should know the difference between the "Grand Slam" and his "career slam" (winning each of the 4 majors in a career). Bobby Jones is the only player to win all 4 majors in a single year. In his era the 4 majors were the US Open , US Amateur, British Open and British Amateur Championships.
Besides Royal Latham there are reportedly other times Player cheated. Nonetheless a fabulous performer especially given his physical limitations, eg my son is smaller but stocky and drives the ball 300+ yards. Player was not naturally stocky and muscular so he had to work out. Remarkable player, great mental strength. Some braggadocio but so what? Other reasons for that. Also quite the father and ambassador for golf. Hooray!
+bicklesby1 I don't know if he cheated 165 times but he scraped a ton of sand away from behind his ball whilst up against the clubhouse wall at Royal Lytham, watch the footage.

Did his driver length change as he got older? That could explain the flatter swing plane when he was older.
The two things I notice is a stronger grip and an inside swing path versus the younger Gary Player.
