Got a lesson on fitness, the American diet and the heavy club from Gary on the 4th floor of Snoqualmie Falls Lodge during the Boeing Classic one year, at about 12am, as I delivered two mega burgers, load of fries, and bottle of wine to another player. While that guy was indulging, Gary was working on his swing and teaching me a life lesson on staying fit, eating right, and practicing for the joy of it. I will remember that brief encounter forever, and think about it every time I pick up a club or get a craving at midnight!
I was in Dubai airport lounge a few years ago, sitting having breakfast I could hear a loud SA voice, I turned round and Gary Player was on the phone whilst sitting with his wife. I said to my boss, that’s Gary Player, he did who? I said one of the greatest golfers ever to grace the planet. Seconds later a hand touches my shoulder, I turn round and there is Gary Player, he apologises for being loud on the phone. I stand up and say that it wasn’t a problem and that I recognised his voice, he immediately catches the Scottish accent and we spend the next few minutes taking about his grand parents who came from Scotland. I respected GP before this meeting, but spending a few minutes with him on a private level was totally inspiring........full respect to the God of Golf.
Thanks for the Video clip! Sorry for the intrusion, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (google it)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for revealing an effortless golf swing technique without the hard work. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my close friend Aubrey after many years got excellent success with it.
The thing I see with Pxg their clubs are way to expensive but they do some marvellous things with their money like this clinic and their fitting days, oh and there clubs look amazing 👍🏻⛳️
When I look at Player's record it's hard for me to not consider him the greatest competitive golfer of all time. Especially when you consider he was dealing with Nicklaus and Palmer in their prime. I believe he is the only golfer to hold all Majors(one of only five) and to hold all Senior majors, as one example. Those of you doubtful I invite you to look at his record. It's utterly insane. Something like 167 wins, more National championships than anyone, and it just goes on and on.
Great player but he’s one of the most narcissistic people I’ve ever met. Worked with him a few times at Callaway and just spends every clinic bragging and being condescending towards everyone.

A living legend. 9 Majors in an era of absolute stud golfers. The golfing community needs to honor this man while he is still with us.

I’ve met Mr. Player and I can say he is at true Gentleman. His putting tip is gold, just use it. Good vid Matt.
I could listen to him all day everyday thanks
I'm pretty sure Gary player is absolutely nuts but I love him
A brilliant golfer and an inspiration.
Love to listen to the legend 🌟 ☺
Fantastic! Such a legend.
Great tip using a 50 out of the bunker. I have a 52 gap wedge and tried it with a smaller swing, easy out!!
I just want to say... his grandaughter isabbella hall is one of my friends! Thank you Bella
This is an example of someone with a larger than life personality.
Took on board Mr Players words regarding not always hitting your most lofted club from the bunker and had 2/2 up and downs 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
quality, it deffo works instead of pulling the lobber out straight away!!
Sure worked for me last week. Playing again later so see how today goes if I find a bunker.....

BRILLIANT!
Still incredible at 83 years old

he was one hell of a player for sure....still gives it a good rip today to be fair!!
@@Mattfryergolf and that's another incredible thing, he's in his 80s and can still shoot par golf!
Best ever...
@American Hero So are you.
Great video Matt.
i have seen garry player in south africa
9 majors !
Funny and good.
It's amazing how often KISS comes in handy, every now and then you just need to say to yourself Keep It Simple Stupid lol.
Watch this video with title “Want to know the golf secret?”.
Is that average golfer in crowd?
Was Matt the butcher in League of Gentlemen?
Thank you very much Sir for great words for PM Imran Khan :)
3:21 What?
I like Gary Player as a golfer, but he's a little condescending. In this video he makes 2002 Tiger look humble
It's not condescending. It's true. Amateurs can never putt without looking up to see where the ball went.
@@samualalbatross4817 Oh for fucks sake that comments was from 2 years ago
@@samualalbatross4817 Plus being conceded isn't about one topic it's an over all personality trait.
@@davidmurphy9433 Glad you changed your mind.
His name is Gary Player, not Gary Teacher.
Not a callaway man anymore.
Whats up with Gary's stomach on this one. Did he give up the 1000 situps?
Caloric intake and metabolism have more to do with our fat storage than exercise.

Gary player is the last person I would want a round with.... sorry Matt just dont like the bloke.

Bad loser huh
