Really Karen is great in talent. No words to say, only listen to. She is a godness.
OK wow I've never seen anybody tell an audience they were lip syncing lol ... This is so cool to see, especially since it's the original vocal cut and not the one she did for the singles compilation a few years later. Thanks for the post.
Wow. I had never seen this before. "Ed" Carpenter (!) along with Karen at her absolutely most beautiful. I had to stop this a few times during her close-ups when she gazed directly into the camera and felt a chill -- because she gave me exactly that same look (along with many joyful and twinkle-eyed) in 1978 when I interviewed her at A&M. Karen Carpenter was the finest female singer of the 20th century -- aside from being personally perhaps the most warm and loving woman.you'd ever meet.
19years old....amazing!
Who woudn't love her ? She'd been sweet like candy fruit. Her voice allready hinted the Great singer. I was 20y.o. ; She 19y.o. and I felt deeply in love with Her that 1969.
She was still a teenager then, I think 19 years old and beautiful too. 💕
Never saw this kind of camera angle used before...almost an aerial shot so that you can see Karen sing and play up close.
1:25 The host's explanation of lip sync is the sweetest thing I've ever heard. Then Karen takes the drums and not only lip syncs but stick-syncs the whole performance in a tight closeup . And I'm like, wow I guess if you do it right it really is one of the most difficult things in the profession 😳
