I think american football knocked most of them out of my head 😅 But Prešeren's "Toast" was always my favorite and you did a pretty good job reciting it. The cocktail was better though 🤤

We all had to learn the same poem I guess. 😁 I will remember my recitite for ever. I was going through puberty and halfway through I went from Barry White to a gnome. Whole class was laughing, even the teacher. 🤣
Happy Birthday to your mother. I'm sure she will be incredibly surprised and happy to see this video! Another great piece of work and an pretty looking cocktail. I love the brush of chocolate. Cheers! 🥃
Kevin you are going to make your viewers blush with that wink! Haha, great job as always guys. Happy birthday to your mom! Hope you guys are having a great time together
I adore reading and writing poetry. Some of my favorite poems are Strictly Germ Proof, A fool's Prayer, and The Yarn Of The Nancybelle. But there are so many great poems!
What an astounding creation. So happy I just discovered your channel. Alongside Truffles on the Rocks, these are the 2 best produced and easily most underrated cocktail channels on youtube.
I thought I was losing my mind for a sec but that books eye brows definitely raise up lol. This looks very fancy and amazing. I like the idea of the fig liqueur that's not something that you see too often.
Thumbnail alone makes me want to read some poetry and sit in that beautiful chair of yours. With dr. Fig cocktail of course! Did I just wrote a rhyme? 🤣
Really enjoying your work! I have a friend who is a well published poet in Trieste and am going to share this with him. Now, to find some good dried figs here in Canada!
That's awesome, thanks for watching! Haven't heard of Camões before, but I now saw that he's compared to Shakespeare, Dante, and Homer (among others). That's huge! Thanks for your comment.
Looking at the thumbnail I was so convinced the drink will include rhubarb ribbon. You really catch me by surprise. The drink looks great, and the fig liqueur sounds too good. :@) Cheers!
The greatest poet from my hometown is Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. There’s several buildings here that are named after his most famous poems. We even have a lovely bar that is named for him situated in a town square that also bares his name. Which makes me want to come with a cocktail recipe in his honor now that I think about it.
That sounds like a great idea! I've found this - www.mainespirits.com/recipes/longfellows-word - but there's always something new you can come up with in the world of cocktails. Name it after a poem or a character, something you can draw inspiration from. And let me know how it turns out! Cheers, Jacob!
@@KevinKos This has got me going down the research rabbit hole! So far I've read that Longfellow was a big fan of Thanksgiving desserts and especially pumpkin pie! I'm thinking a good fall cocktail might be just the thing to honor Portland's greatest poet!
Hey Kevin, Another awesome and knowledgeable content as always. Really loved the way u make every single cocktail with a relevant story or for a particular day or occasion. Thanks Ronit! I have a great team, so when I create a cocktail for a specific day/theme we'll build the story around that. I'm really happy you appriciate our work! I read the translation of India's anthem and I think it's great that country makes the works of the greatest poets as their national symbols. Cheers to India!
If- by Rudyard Kipley My favorite poem of all time. Describes from a father to his son what a man should be. Unfortunately, like all great works of art, it is incomplete. It forgets to mention that to be a man, one must become an initiate by becoming a busboy, then barback, then finally bartend through all phases of life or until the service well becomes a beast well tamed, whichever comes first. That joke is a stretch. But the poem is a great one. Give it a read.
Damn, okay, that looks amazing. I've got to try this now.... Do you use this liqueur in other cocktails also? Or any favorite spirits to pair this with in a drink?
You can of course! In the comments below Jan gave us an Idea to make this fig liqueur with cognac which sounds delicious. I think that this liqueur should go well with pisco as well, but I would really want to try it with Calvados. Next time I will make a sour with Calvados and this liqueur for myself.
@@KevinKos pisco sounds great! I think I'll try with a decently neutral fruit alcohol first. Brandy sounds like a great idea too but sadly I'm out. I'll make it this weekend and experiment then! Thanks again for the great video!
Hello Kevin, Really great content as always! I was just wondering if let the fig-vodka mixture steep if a closed jar for 24 hours or something like that, it it possible to get a similar result? Thanks!
@@KevinKos I was way to impatient, and just bottled the liqueur, and it's just fantastic! I think I will replace some of the demarara syrup in my whiskey old fashioned! About poetry and drinks, we had a writer here in Hungary called Gyula Krúdy, and we have a wine spritz(fröccs) recipe named after him. It's 9 dl wine 1 dl sparkling water, just to have some bubbles :D
@@KevinKos Dude! The fig vodka tastes amazing! I almost want to just drink it straight and not put it in the cocktail. Do you have a recommendation for how this could work with fresh figs? My parents have a fig tree and I would like to use those figs when they are ready.
@@Mik3Easter Haha, I feel the struggle. I am glad that you like it! You can use the same procedure that with the dried ones, but skip the reconstitute part. And if you want, you can use brandy instead of vodka, to add another note layer of liqueur, since you will use fresh ones. But make sure, to use only really ripe figs, because they will add more taste.
Greatest WRITER in the United States? Of all time? Um, maybe Emerson? Longfellow, for my money, is our best poet. Contemporary short-story writers and novelists include Ted Chiang and Lauren Groff. I think they're some of our best today. Best living poet? I would say Craig Arnold, but he is nearly fifteen years dead. Can we claim the songwriter Richard Thompson? He's lived here forty years.
I'll stick to cocktail making instead of reciting! Do you still know any of the poems you had to learn in school?
