And if they had a forward that ran the entire game without a ball, moving into channels and free spaces, they'd score at least three goals each game. Ronaldo was not the issue it is just the mix of attacking players around him. Bernardo should not have played on the right wing he doesn’t take on defenders and best suited at the centre. He should have played Neto, jota, cancelo or Felix on that wing that can actually take on defenders. Vitinha lacks the experience and should have given a run to nunes or neves in the centre they would have had more impact and have better composure in creating and taking chances. The left wing was good but they needed to a bit more composed in squaring the ball or making better crosses. Defence was good in tournament, Pepe is still a class act. All in all the midfield a-times lacked creativity and pace which dulled counter attacks

@husseinmusselmani8339 portugal obviously have a good midfield and awesome wingers but the decision made by them in the final third moment was poor the crosses was not working in the entire tournament but I don't know what got into their mind they were just forcefully crossing the ball. And the substitution they subbed palhina for neves like what was the reason, they subbed burno and cancelo too like was that a joke and you r playing ronaldo on other side like there was nothing to offer. They had great defence but leao was breaking them bruno was breaking them we had ample amount of chance to Bury and win this game if he had made substitution that could actually affect the game.
@@Wri8er.7 yeah, Bruno and Cancelo being subbed out was undoubtedly the wrong decision. It almost seemed like Cristiano was the most isolated player on the pitch, like Portugal throughout the tournament was not made to play with a pure striker. They aimlessly crossed the ball from the wing for it to be blocked or be dispossessed, or would play a back pass which would nullify the attack. I think they simply lacked that extra edge in skill to be able to maneuver past opponents with creativity, aside from Cancelo, Bruno, Vitinha, and occasionally Mendes. Bernardo was quite underwhelming in my opinion, and Ronaldo being the scapegoat of their failures with the least number of touches isn't purely down to his own inability. Simply put, they lacked chemistry and would at times look to dribble past a number of defenders in situations when dribbling wasn't the right option ie being swarmed by multiple/having open options to keep the play flowing upfield
