Toy Hunting and Chat at the Leicester Vintage Toy Shop

- We visit our good friend Joe and the team at the Leicester Vintage Toy Shop now that's it re-re-opened. It's been way too long since we last made a visit, and now seemed a good time.
This is our first physical toy hunt since the start of the lockdown at the beginning of the year which makes this extra special.
Joe & Gavin were on top form as usual making us feel welcome and always helpful. Thanks to both of them for allowing us to film and to spend the time chatting vintage toys and life.
Take a tour of their amazing shop filled with so many different vintage toy lines, and listen to our chat, well mainly Joe who's ever passionate about this world of vintage goodness.
Finally, see the items I picked up - super pleased with the haul.

Cheers Marc - yeah never seen an Automan carded figure before - thought it was funny as had just seen it on Toy Galaxy's channel - also never seen carded Takara Star Wars - the Japanese sticker on the card makes them 😃

Fantastic store, the stories behind the toys really do sale the product. I had hoped for more original vintage Star Wars though. Only because that’s my obsession. The shop owners were also very pleasant it seemed. So who wouldn’t have loved to go there!?!
The owners are great guys and really know their stuff. The problem with vintage Star Wars is that they can't keep it the shop for very long 😀

Great video and pick ups. Really need to get myself to the shop. Think it’s around 3 hours away so a full day trip would be needed. Also a lot of money haha Have seen some gems in the video! 👍

Pretty fun trip, awesome store. :D In hindsight I wish I had more Madballz, still have a comic book somewhere. Found a vintage one but I dare not squeeze it anymore lol. The one's with bodies looked cool, I should look into that.
This is one my favourite stores in the uk!! I've seen those Madballz appear in several places, they look great, but don't have any in my collection. Maybe one day 👍 Definitely worth looking into, good luck in your hunt.

It's great to see a shop like this - looks brilliant! I wish there was one similar here in Manchester - i do not know of one. I was also wondering about the pros and cons of using buying from a shop like this rather than using eBay. Prices may be higher in the shop but I guess you can check out the quality of the item? All the shop stock looks like it is in good condition too. Would appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks for watching! Good question, you're probably right that the prices are going to be shop prices to cover costs etc but that doesn't mean you can't find a bargain too - the main advantage is that you can strike a relationship with the shop owner, in this case Joe who really knows his stuff - so if you collect certain lines you'll likely be first in the queue for any new acquisitions - Joe of course gets to meet loads of people in this world too so will have amazing contacts - Leicester is the home of Palitoy and often he'll have fantastic pieces direct from Palitoy employees etc. Having said all that, I'll still attend toy fairs and last I'll use eBay especially if looking for accessories or items to complete something 👍
